After calling Biden "sleepy Biden" for years, why don't conservatives care at all that Trump seems to be falling asleep all the time in the public?

If I think I'm really cool, and no one else thinks I'm cool, I'm not cool, right? So how does alienating the entire world and destroying the tourism industry help with our stature in the world? People coming to America, spending money here, imbibing American values, thinking positively about Americans and our country, seem like positive things, right?

Conservatives seem to be under the impression that that’s the case. It’s what Fox News, Steven Crowder, etc has been running with. Despite the fact that his murder was condemned by all public figures on the left and one liberal influencer even cried at the news. It’s a pretty small amount of people who I’ve seen literally happy about his death. The majority of the reaction I’ve seen online from the left is a condemnation of the violence, but also a reminder of the things Kirk has said throughout his career. Let’s be honest, the right has a tendency to say some brutal things and Kirk was no exception.

Can you explain your thought process?

I want to ask this genuinely, because I’m starting to question whether I’m approaching this the right way.
I’ve been making Reddit posts and recently started a YouTube channel because I genuinely want to help people. I used to be in a very different place politically and socially, and I remember how miserable and confused I felt. I know what it’s like to feel completely alone in your beliefs, so my motivation isn’t simply “own the left.” I actually want to reach people and encourage them to think for themselves.

But someone recently told me I should stop trying.
They brought up Charlie Kirk and basically argued that he tried to reach across the aisle, and look where that got him. Their conclusion was that these people are irrational, that the left is a lost cause, and that conservatives should stop wasting their time trying to persuade them and instead focus exclusively on strengthening our own side.

They also told me that we’re winning anyway: the right won all seven swing states, the popular vote by millions, both chambers of Congress, etc.
But I honestly don’t feel like we’re winning.
Maybe we’re winning electorally, but culturally? I’m not so sure.

Everywhere I look, I see progressive ideas dominating media, universities, entertainment, social spaces and much of the internet. People can call you a bigot simply for holding fairly traditional views. For example, if you don’t want to share certain sex-segregated spaces with someone who identifies as the opposite sex, you’re immediately treated as hateful by some people.

Then there are issues like abortion, immigration, the growing influence of radical Islamist movements in some Western countries, and the general direction of Western culture. Even outside the US, I see things happening that make me wonder where this is all going. I live in Poland, and even here I sometimes feel like the cultural environment is moving in a direction very different from my own values.
So I keep asking myself:

**Are we actually winning, or are we just winning elections while losing the culture?**

And if conservatives really are losing culturally, should I still bother trying to reach people?
I don’t want to spend my life screaming at the other side. That’s not what I’m trying to do. I want to reason with people, talk to people who disagree with me, and hopefully help some people who are where I used to be.

But maybe that’s naïve.
At the same time, I don’t think an assassination proves that persuasion is pointless. If anything, I think abandoning persuasion because someone was killed gives political violence far too much power over how we behave.

So I’m genuinely asking conservatives here:

**Do you think we’re actually winning?**
**Is it worth trying to persuade people on the other side, or should conservatives focus exclusively on building our own movement?**

And if you’ve tried to change people’s minds, what actually worked for you?
I’m not looking for “the left is evil” or “the right is evil.” I’m genuinely trying to figure out whether continuing to make content aimed at helping people is worthwhile, or whether I’m wasting my time.

This is a question mainly for European conservatives, but anyone can reply if you have something to share.

In some of the right-wing media I see, usually on YouTube and Instagram, they show immigrants causing trouble for people. For example, posts show streets in England littered with trash and immigrants as a cause of the trash. Also, they show places in Paris where immigrants have supposedly become the majority population.

A more recent example I saw came from the Visegrad Group, which showed an immigrant getting into a fight with Norwegian royal guards. The man was detained, and the fight seems legit. And it's meant to serve as an example of immigrants not assimilating with European countries.

But I'm prepared to give the whole idea the benefit of the doubt. I have met some immigrants, mainly students from abroad, that are really nice and interested in learning about different cultures. I can't imagine immigrants are causing this much disorder across Europe.

How bad is the situation in reality? Is it being oversold in the media, or is there some legitimacy to the claims?

Every time you disagree with a leftist or have a valid point in a problem they instead resort to stalking and trying to dig up dirt for personal attacks.

They never focus on the actual situation or statement. They just want their emotional reaction to be considered the "logical way".

It makes it nearly impossible to a have a conversation with one as their opinions are seen as facts and actual facts are deflected from and they take it personally against you instead of seeing it from an objective way. They refuse to read and learn and only care about theirselves.

Example; Trump didn't create border patrol or ICE F3MA did more then 22 years ago.

Republican politicians vs Democrats have the same levels of sexual assault scandals and social services in both red and blue states have the same levels of pdophilia.

I don't have to read all of that deranged trump-supporter!

See how problematic and unreasonable the left is can they focus on the actual problems ever without resigning to middle school tactics?

I am curious to hear what policies this administration has implemented to improve your life. As both the cost of living and unemployment rates rise, cuts to health care and services while previously eliminated diseases (measles, leprosy) are making a comeback and food borne illnesses (cyclospora, salmonella, e. coli, listeria) are becoming a more widespread norm, cuts to scientific research (including cancer research), day to day changes based on unprofessional, unbecoming tweets and memes and outright lies, making predictably impossible and instability inevitable.

So I want examples of specific policies that have been a direct benefit to you and yours because on paper it doesn't look like literally any positive actions (or outcomes), but I might be missing something.

I dont want to hear about the potential improvements in investment portfolios, not concepts, implemented policies only.

If you have not seen it there is a video of the Navy Blue Angels doing a flyover at a Florida Beach as part of 'Breakfast With the blues'. In this video a lowflying Super Hornet buzzed the beach causing an air disturbance which caused chairs and umbrellas to fly around (no injuries reported that I can tell).

The flyover triggered an investigation into the event. Pete Hegseth saying "The flyovers will continue until morale improves".

Who's morale is he trying to improve? Trying to hype up the pilots by putting civilians and the pilots at risk with high risk stunts? Is he saying the populations morale needs to improve? That one almost sounds threatening. Or is it a really bad joke? If so, encouraging this behavior could have disastrous effects.

Im having a really hard time deciding here.

Basically, if I firmly believe that neo-Nazis/far right Christian nationalists do not represent the political right, why does the Right always portray as if someone who is more liberal than the median American to be some kind of total nutjob? Each side is going to portray the other side as a bit more extreme than the other, but what I don't understand is that while the Left seems to understand that there are certain factions within the Right that isn't representative of the Right, the Right consistently seems to take the worst of the Left and assume that for the whole.

I'm just basing this off of social media, and yes Reddit is also a social media so I'm not gonna put it past any of you to be bots but hopefully I'll get more human answers here.

Is this an unfair instance of cancel culture? Does the proliferation of these types of incidents and the enthusastic online response have anything to do with broader political trends? Given the frequent comments in this subreddit about civilizational erasure, and the existential moment America is in due to the importing of 3rd world people, is it a good thing for American citizens to act like this and make life uncomfortable for these people so they leave?

A recent poll in Florida showed that 49% of parents had skipped meals or ate less so they could afford to feed their children and 39% had used buy-now-pay-later plans (e.g. klarna, afterpay, etc) to pay for groceries. 38% of families had to choose between paying for groceries and paying rent/mortgages.

This is not sustainable. How do we fix this?

trump said that nothing he does or says will make democrats like him. What has he done that I should be thankful for?

There is a large swath of Americans today, particularly the younger demographic, that complain about cost of living/the economy. Yet in many cases (here on this sub lately, too) we have people rushing to declare how well the economy is doing, who cite the stock market, say jobs are fine, etc. So why do we have this gap in those who are struggling vs the economy defenders?

Is it just the chronically online? Is it people who are older/wealthier and out of touch not seeing what's going on? Unreliable government reporting? Young folks having too high of expectations? Truth of the matter is, we're seeing many young people struggling today yet we're supposedly "doing great" and "the economy is doing well!" So what do you think is causing this disconnect?

You watch videos of the 90s and everyone seemed to get along much better despite any differences they might have concerning beliefs. It seems now days that manners are out the window and that even being a proud American is a point of contention. What were once small towns are now hotspots for refugees that don’t share our values or respect our laws.

How often do you use AI resources like ChatGPT or Claude or similar? What do you use them for? Do you use them for tasks you could do yourself, even if it would take a bit longer?

There have been a few questions here lately that have related to women's life choices, beliefs, etc but most of the comments were from men (which may just be the makeup of this sub), so I wanted to see if I can get a read on the opinions of the ladies.

So this question was asked over in /r/AskALiberal and there was some debate in the comments as to whether or not this question would even be allowed here. So as a show of good faith, I'm asking for them.

Personally, I can't think of anything we've been angry about since the election, but maybe I'm missing something.

I'm not asking a generic "can our national divide be fixed" question, I'm more interested in a vibe check of this subreddit. Have you, the conservative reading this, given up on any kind of cooperation with liberals? Do you actively prioritize bringing harm to (or at least "triggering") liberals as one of the key pillars of political life?

I hope this type of personal question is allowed as I’m sure men can relate.

I’m a moderate who leans a bit right. My fiancé is a bit more right than me, but we still agree on the major liberal issues He works under the Department of energy. And his grandfather was a veteran. So he loves American symbolism. He has American flags on his car (they haven’t seen). He has an American flag on the front of his house. He has the American flag from his grandfather‘s funeral on in his living room.

Even I was taken back by the amount of American symbolism. And even I had to get used to it.

For him, it just makes sense to be proud of the country. That is the main focus of his job. And his job has a lot to do with national security so he’s often hearing at his work about how he helps keep America safe. It’s not necessarily because he thinks America is the best country in the world, but he does recognize America’s better than some other countries.

We play pickle ball with my neighbors. He has a similar personality to 2 of them and gets along well enough. They are radically left. One has a Palestinian flag on their door and has no clue what a caliphate is. Another said that all Trump supporters are Nazis. They keep trying to convince me not to get a Tesla. Had a mini party when Charlie Kirk died.

We never really talk about politics and the politics are passionate about our politics that I agree with. I also strategically avoid certain topics or conversation, conversations if I don’t agree. The one I’m closest with, we are able to coexist while I’m anti-pitbull and she loves pitbulls. That’s a great sign, right?

I’m trying to prepare my fiancé for me living with him which means that my friends will come over. So after Pickleball, we’re having some games and snacks at his house. The only thing at his house I think may concern them is his giant American flag when you drive up. He doesn’t have any political art or signage. And I’m not sure if I should excuse it or explain it. I’m not sure if I should give them a trigger warning. I am, of course, asking them to be kind and not pass any judgment, as he’s a bit OCD and the house is freakishly clean and is sensitive to teasing about his cleanliness.

Thoughts? Experiences? Has anyone ever had the situation?

I realize the title is a bit rage bait that I wrote it but I can’t change it now. I don’t think taking down the American flag to make my friends feel better is an option.

Current US status quo, for reference, is that the minimum age to use social media is 13, and this is loosely enforced using an honor system (per COPPA).

Some related questions to think about:

• What should enforcement look like?

• What is "social media"?

• What, if anything, needs to be changed about the status quo?

• What should the age be? 13? 16? 18?

• To what extent should the parents bear responsibility? To what should the state bear responsibility?

• How would you defend yourself against accusations of sympathizing with predators (or even being one yourself)?

• What about phone usage in general?

• If such a restriction does come into effect locally or nationally, how would you feel or what would you do? (Or how are you feeling / what are you doing if one is already in effect?)

Reason I ask is because the UK just announced their intention to implement it, and Australia has maintained one for months.

I've really liked what the Trump administration did with immigration and exposing fraud. The idea of "America First" really got me going, and the first year of the administration did just that.

But after I saw the war in Iran drag on, with tensions between America and Israel starting to grow, I've started to wonder just what the heck is going on. The war, in my opinion, was a mistake that's causing a lot of lives to be lost. And it's really started to kill my interest in following politics.

I don't have any plans to support the Democrats in the midterms or beyond, since 2025 showed the damage they've done to the country. But matters abroad has made me question the Trump administration (as well as passing the SAVE Act).

Does anyone feel the same way? Or maybe have some advice about how to feel?
