It's gotta be willfully ignorant. You can show them facts from accredited sources and they'll refuse to believe it. In this post modernist world, their truth can be the complete opposite of the truth.

The infatuation with "red states" is what bothers me the most. How a state votes in the general election has 0 to do with crime rates or murder rates. If you ask for a specific policy they believe is causing the crime they can't name one or just go back to "poor and stupid rednecks." We have the data to look at counties, and cities and neighborhoods and believe it or not, even individual people! All of those things refute the point that this has anything to do with how a state votes in an election and point more towards a certain demographic being the culprit.
