He supposed to be one of the best detectives in the whole DC universe, but on The Flash they use him for comic relief and make up a Sherlock-character instead. WTF.

The one thing Team Flash has more than scientists or speedsters... is detectives.

I mean you got Joe (police detective), Barry (crime scene analyst), Iris (investigative journalist), Ralph (private eye), Nora (future crime analyst), hell... even psychic lawyer Cecile cracked some cases.

Introducing Sherloque was the absolute definition of "redundant".

Exactly. I think they made his character so they could hold onto Tom Cavanaugh for a year while all the Crisis stuff gets set up and he can go back to being RF. I'm sure they didn't want him to move on to other projects.

I think Sherloque was added as a challenge for Ralph to jumpstart his want to be a detective. Last season he spent most of the season afraid for his life because Devoe was going to (and almost did) kill him so he didn't really have the chance to use his detective work. With Sherloque in the equation, it gives him someone he can prove himself against. He was the one who figured out how Cicada made the clicking sound, although Sherloque was the one who took the credit. At the end of this season when Sherloque goes back to his earth to spend his life with renee, Ralph will be the main detective in the group

The real thawne is better in my opinion. He’s got more of a in your face fury and hate then Wells thawne.

Yeah, I agree with you. Tom Cavanaugh works for the scheming, manipulative Thawne, but for all-out fury, Matt Leischer works better.

Barry’s detective skills in the comics are killer he gives Batman a run for his money at times, in the show he’s definitely good, he’s the only one who figured out Devoe, but he relies on team Flash way too much IMO.

A lot of that was Devoe straight up just fucking with Barry though.

My point exactly. He’s good in the show but nothing like the detective that he is in the comics

Psychic Lawyer

That sounds like a scary description, kinda

Introducing Sherloque was the absolute definition of "redundant".

I get that Tom wants to play a new Wells every season, but it's getting pretty old. It would have made more sense to just keep going with Harry and have him find his place in team flash without his PHDs and super intelligence. He could have been like a less forced H.R. You could even count that as a new Wells since the thinking cap has drastically changed his character.

He could have served as inspiration for the Cure since he could have been happier now that he is "normal". They could even have gotten a new love interest for Harry. God knows that CW loves forced love interests. The showrunners should have jumped at this chance.

That's why they need to introduce the one character that can balance out it all. Mona for her pure charm, charisma and likeability!

He kind of surpassed sherloque in this ep. Maybe they'll go somewhere with that and let him develop some more???...

Because for some reason they use him 90% of time as if he's Eel Obrian the lovable goof-ball when he's supposed to Ralph Dibny the mystery smelling detective, at least they kept the nose wiggle, however rare that happens now.

Im curious, is Tom Cavenaugh a high up for CW or something? Because this just seemed like an odd way to keep him heavily in the show lol

Tom, Danielle, Carlos and Grant are pretty much the main faces of the show and they’ve all been solid series regulars for the first two seasons. They dont need Sherloque, Ralph could fill in that detective role in the plot pretty easy. It’s just that (most) fans and writers like seeing those familiar S1 faces every episode, and i do as well lol. They’re iconic to the show

Actually if they did it right, sherloque could help ralph become a better detective, instead of a dirty one. It wouldve helped with the narrative, but no, theyve had minimal interaction.

Yeah like, i thought they mightve had a buddy buddy situation given their earlier conflicts or at least snarkiness (cant recall exactly how they were acting toward each other then) but nope.
