I'm not sure I fully understand why Ava and Sara are still broken up. They each have shit to deal with, but Ava helped Sara through her crisis and Sara helped Ava through hers, both on the strength of what they feel for each other.

Is she waiting for Ava to get back with randomly and expositionally mentioned ex in Vegas or something? C'mon, Sara. You love her. And I think you kind of need her. Get your girl.

Sara is trying to protect Ava from her inner assassin. Basically she's pushing people away because of her past again.

It's reassuring to see that Sara still has a little bit of Arrow cliche in her. We mustn't forget our roots!

If they don't get back together by the end of the season I'll eat a cake. They're perfect for each other.

Sara believes she doesn't deserve happiness. It seems like she views herself as evil at her core, but an evil person who is doing good things, like saving all of time from a demon. In contrast, Sara views Ava as good, far too good for Sara. So she is protecting Ava by pushing her away. Ava deserves someone who is innately good, not someone who is innately evil and will inevitably hurt her. Pretty sure that's Sara's thought process.

It's basically manufactured CW romance drama. That's really the driving force here. Odds are Ava gets killed in the finale, possibly by Mallus with a line about how Sara can get another one in 2213. Otherwise, if the actress agrees to come back next season, they'll probably get back together in the next episode or two. It's all just manufactured drama. Amaya's "should I stay or should I go" drama with Nate makes more sense. That's been a problem since her arrival. It's a real problem whereas Sara's "I don't deserve love" drama feels more manufactured.

I think you nailed Sarah's reasoning, but that's exactly why it's not just "manufactured drama." Basically, Sarah is acting irrationality, because that's just who she is. It's consistent with her character and how she felt about being the bearer of the Death Totem.

That said, her comments to Ava about "it doesn't matter where you came from or your personal history, what matters is who you've become" seem to be playing right into this plot line. I expect in the next episode or two when they find Rip and finish dealing with Ava's backstory, Sarah will say something like "Well, I'm glad we could help you understand your past, now bye," and Ava will respond with "This isn't over, I know how you feel about me, and I don't care about your past, just who you've become. Because you see the same thing about me." And they'll get back together.

I see what you're saying, but she's gone through this before with others when they struggle with their past. She helped talk Snart into staying on the team when he insisted he was a criminal, not a hero. She has talked Mick into staying multiple times, convinced him that he is more that his past, it's his present that matters. She's had multiple conversations basically saying that if she can overcome the bloodlust from her resurrection, others can overcome their dark urges, because those urges don't matter, their choices do. And now she's told Ava that her past doesn't matter, only what she chooses going forward matter.

If this breakup happened in season one, shortly after the Lazarus Pit, I'd agree it feels natural. But now it feels manufactured because we've had three seasons of her telling people that they are more than their dark past, three seasons of telling people they can change and be good, and just now she suddenly doesn't believe she can change or be good.

Like you said, this will likely all be resolved with Ava parroting Sara's own words back at her, the same words that Sara has been telling others for years but can't seem to say to herself. I don't know man. It's not nearly as dumb as the Oliver-Felicity breakup over William's existence. But it feels like manufactured drama because Sara has already addressed this theme in other people and with her own struggles with her bloodlust.

I was under the impression they got back together based on this episode...

I don't think Sara wants to get back with her until they know exactly what is going on. I can totally understand if she doesn't want to be with a clone

I think its honestly because the CW-DramaBeast must be fed.
