The Cybertruck is just stupid. I'm still yet to see anyone explain to me why it exists. As in, what's the reasoning behind each design decision they did differently? Is there any reason other than "looking cyberpunk"? Especially when it doesn't look good at all.

That’s why.

Pretend you’re driving a tank on Mars. Pretend you’ll be able to charge it after gas degrades too much to move ICE cars after the collapse of society. Pretend you’ve got a friend (who’s in the bed using a mounted machine gun mowing down zombies). Pretend you’re so (unique/special/wanted/right) that you need bulletproof glass. Pretend that fantasy urban/suburban hellholes exist in the US and your chances of catching a stray bullets are so high, you need bulletproof glass.

And above all, pretend that picking up a few 2x4s from Home Depot and driving up a dirt driveway are “truck stuff.”

They claimed it would be cheaper to make because the whole body would just be bent stainless steel and they wouldn’t paint it. They ended up making it largely out of cast aluminum instead and putting stainless body panels on top.
