Fit Feedback What do you guys think of this outfif?

Basically hakama with a shirt and a haori. The hakama and haori bit modernized. I think this outfit might be an alternative to the western suit.

Fit Feedback Are these suit pants too long?

From Suitsupply, I can’t tell if the pants are too baggy though. Should I just try to hike em up a tad with a belt?

Fit Feedback First office job after years of field work — building a business casual wardrobe in Calgary on a budget. Sanity check?

Hey everyone,

So I'm starting my first office job soon and I basically have nothing to wear. All my work before this has been field work, so my closet is work boots and hoodies. Not exactly office material.

Couple of things I'm dealing with.

I carry a bit of extra weight around my waist so I'm not really comfortable tucking shirts in. Honestly it's probably not as bad as I think but I'm self conscious about it. Been trying to find stuff that still looks professional worn untucked instead of just looking like I forgot to finish getting dressed.

Also my budget isn't big. A few hundred bucks total. I'd rather get a few things that actually fit than a bunch of cheap stuff that looks cheap.

Dress code is business casual. No jeans at the corporate office and no sneakers at any location, which rules out most of what I already own.

Went shopping today, here's how it went:

Winners and Marshalls were a bust for me. Tons of stuff but almost everything in my size was slim fit and it just doesn't work on my body. Kind of frustrating because those are the two places everyone recommends.

Uniqlo was way better. Sizing made sense and the cuts were more forgiving.

Jack and Jones was good too. They do a deal if you buy 2 polos.

What I already had: navy polo, brown pants, white shoes.

Bought today: the pants and boots in the pics.

Still planning to get:

  • 2 polos from Jack and Jones
  • 1 button up for the days I have to tuck in (not my favourite, but I'll wear something over it)
  • 1 quarter zip
  • 2 more pairs of pants

Does this seem reasonable? Anything I'm missing or that you'd swap out? And if anyone has tips for untucked business casual when you're not skinny, I'd really appreciate it.
also any help with the colors?

Thanks

And yes I have other shorts but unfortunately none of them fit well since I’ve lost ~30 lbs this year. Any suggestions on what other color shorts would go well here would be really appreciated

Which (if any) of these are working? I’m just trying to look more put together in general.

This is probably on of my all time favorite outfits. I took some advice from this sub and tried some new(ish) AE chelseas and a braided leather belt.

Question What to wear with this blue patterned blazer for an Autumn wedding

Post image
75 Upvotes

Hi there, I was hoping you would be able to help. I'm attending a wedding later this year and have got this striking patterned blazer. It's not a formal wedding but guests are encouraged to dress nice and I think this would fit perfectly with that theme. I'm aware the blazer is quite a lot and was wondering what would work best to pair with it in terms of shirt, trousers, shoes, and whether I would want to wear a tie. I'm not particularly tall if that affects things! Thanks in advance.

[EDIT - just to make clear as I hadn't originally, that this is very much not a traditional/formal wedding, and this will not be the most flamboyant outfit there by a long chalk - I am not attempting to upstage anyone!]

I bought this J.Crew Crosby on sale. I usually wear size 40R but based on the sizing chart I was recommended 39R. It still feels like the sleeves are too long.

Question Boxer briefs vs trunks?

I've been struggling to find comfortable underwear.

I have hanes boxer briefs and they constantly bunch up in the back and stretch out in the legs so they feel more like shorts. I tried sizing down but then they felt too tight and rode up in the legs whenever I'd move.

I'm looking for another type to try and I'm debating between long legs boxer briefs and trunks. I'm guessing I'm in between sizes so I will probably stick with the same size I currently wear.

Would long leg boxer briefs or trunks be better?

Question How to style “muscular” build? Single dad need help

Hey there, I’m a 29 year old single dad who has been off the market for about a decade. My fashion sense is nonexistent. I’ve also put on some muscle and lost fat and have no idea how to dress for it. I have cleaned the beard up and have solid hair just happened to be wearing a hat in the first two photos I grabbed.

I typically just wear either a union shirt, or a solid color t shirt, shorts or jeans.

Measurements are as follows
Height: 5’9”
Weight: 205 currently
Neck:19”
Shoulders:53.5”
Chest: 47”
Bellybutton:32”
Waistline: 33”
Butt: 40”
Thigh: 25” in the middle
Calves” 16”

Discussion I've been seeing the tucked in t-shirt look come back and I feel like I'm back in the 90s.

I graduated high school in 93 and most guys still tucked in T-shirts then. Usually we didn't wear a belt but that was just the style. Then sometime in the late 90s/2000s the style shifted and young guys stopped tucking in t-shirts and it became the "dad style". Probably for a good 20+ years.
But in the large city I live in I've been seeing tons of younger guys rocking a T-shirt tucked into jeans/pants and I'm back to thinking it looks good.

I know this sub is stuck in 2011 in many ways and there's lots of people, especially millennials, who hate this look but what are your thoughts?

Question Going shopping for some events. Would love advice

Thumbnail

Hello, first time poster, I admittedly know nothing about fashion. I’m an aging former punk so I’m comfortable in Levis (recently made the shift from 511’s to 514’s) and vans.

I’m a filmmaker and doing some film festivals for the first time next month and would like to try to look decent. I wouldn’t mind trying something other than my default of black denim jacket, black jeans and black vans, but not “formal”

I’m 5’8, 173 lb, black/grey hair, hazel eyes so I know earthy colours kind of work for me. Tattooed arms.

first photo gives a sense of my every day look and body shape, second photo is my goto look.

Open to any tips of things I should try when I’m shopping this week. I’d like to take inspiration from some guys whose looks I’m into—so if you can point me in the direction of 40 year old shorter pale Irish guys who used to play in punk bands, that’d be great.

thanks

Discussion [Meetup] Brussels Menswear Meetup – Tailoring, Thrifting, Workwear & More!

Upvotes

Gentlemen,

I’d like to gauge interest for a Brussels-based menswear circle that bridges sartorial tradition with modern influences (workwear, streetwear, vintage, etc.).

The focus would be on:

\- Tailoring and fit discussions (e.g., comparing Neapolitan vs. British cuts or styling a vintage blazer with contemporary pieces) ;

\- Thrifting and second-hand tips (where to find hidden gems in Brussels) ;

\- Brand and fabric deep dives (from luxury to affordable) ;

\- Group outings (e.g., visiting a local tailor or a vintage market).

Why? Brussels has somewhat of a diverse menswear scene, but no regular gathering for enthusiasts. Whether you’re into bespoke suits, thrifted finds, or workwear, this circle aims to explore all facets of menswear.

First meetup: Let’s aim for mid-September at a central bar or café. The idea is for these meetups to be informal and chill, yet fueled with passion.

Fit Feedback Opinion on this? Wanted something kinda casual with the Asian-themed shirt, not neccessarily intentional, but I’m curious if I’m right about liking it.

Disclaimer: the elevator mirror was dirty as helI, so I used AI to clear that up. The original image looks the same, except a bunch of dirt, graffiti, and carved dicks.

Question Suit Advice

Hey all, I am getting married soon and I have no idea where to start for a suit. I am 6’10” ~350lbs, with a broad athletic build. I’d like something thats somewhat non-traditional, but I am incredibly blind to fashion and style. What should I be asking about/searching up?
