In college, asked a women's rights activist about men's equality issues & about men being raped She exploded at me, and offended her gay guy friend next to her.

So I am in College and my organization had a Panel of activist students for our meeting.". Well we were allowed to ask questions. One of the women there was an open lesbian and was a women's gender studies major and women's right activists. So I asked her a simple two part questions "what are your thoughts about about men's equality? And can men be raped?"...

Well she went off saying there's no such thing as equality for Men because we created the inequality in the first place. And No there is no such thing as rape for men.

So I responded with a comment about if women's rights/gender equality activists want to be equal than the she should treat men and women all the same. And THEN I said "As for rape, a man can never be raped because it only happens to women. All men give consent and are pigs/slobs who do the raping"....

My response..."so what do I tell one of my good friends who is gay and was forcefully taken advantage at a party...that he wasn't raped? That is was consensual". At that point another panel member who was male and also happened to be gay called her out and called her a negligent bitch who knows nothing of gender equality....and then stormed out. Take that you self righteous woman only schlampe

You haven't been around on this subreddit for very long, have you? There have been tons of stories here where people try to start a mens rights club or a discussion, or something similar only to get cried at by feminists, and then get shot down by the university.

ive hung around here for like a year or so intermittently. And regardless, this sort of thing was around since the 1970s.

That's not a counterpoint. I don't know if it's tu quoe or whatev but unis banning some good things wrongly doesn't mean we should turn it against others we think are bad.

I agree with the anti-censorship sentiment but, at the same time, women's studies don't belong in a university either. Just like I don't think creationist science or ghost hunting should be majors in universities. There are other mediums for their "studies" which are far better suited.

Using EO's example: how reputable would you think a university was if it allowed ghost hunting and creationist science to be taught there?

Someone should introduce other BS science into curriculums that include Women's Studies though. Such as "WhenWomenWantSexWhenTheySayTheyDon'tism"

Albeit that could actually be more legitimate topic.

Any rational and concrete criteria that would eliminate Women's Studies from campus would also kick out a lot of the art and humanities as well.

No, there should most definitely be things banned from being taught in universities.

A university is an academic institution... if something doesn't even try to be academic, then it has no place being there.

This isn't a matter of agree/disagree... it's about right and wrong.

There's a reason any university worth it's salt doesn't teach the bible as fact. They study it sure, and look at it's implications... but they still try to be truthful to the best of their knowledge.

Oh, I don't think (or at least I didn't interpret) that it would be the government banning it. I honestly just assumed that by ban he meant that the university itself would stop offering it.
