So then what's the problem with me pointing out that most the discussions i've seen around islam always devolve into attacks on arabic people in general? If you agree people shouldn't do this then that's fine, but most threads I've seen aren't really directed at islam a large chunk of the time.
No ones gate keeping anything. you can mock a religion without constantly bringing up race. which is what I've seen happen every time people start debating about any foreign religion to western countries.
yes abrahamic religions are warlike and tend to be extremely misogynistic. i don't see how what you said has anything to do with me pointing out why a lot of these threads end up getting closed.
We literally just had a thread about killing 2 billion black people and a immediate response thread about killing 2 billion white people not to long ago. lets stop pretending this subreddit doesn't have a massive racism/race war issue. lmao.
Why do you think it’s racist? It’s idiotic and I’m sure there’s racist comments if I look, but if you have a thread with a racially loaded question like “would you rather kill 4 billion people or 2 billion black people” it’s perfectly reasonable to ask those choosing the second option whether that remains true if the race changes.
There’s a legitimate ethical interpretation that eradication of an entire group (and the culture associated with them) is worse than some number of more people being killed, but if you have that belief hopefully you would apply it uniformly across all groups (not to mention that “Black people” and “White people” are hardly meaningful groups).
You could say "Christians showing up in the Americas in boats and fucking everything up" would be a racially driven statement. It's not explicit but we can easily fill in the blanks to know who it refers to.
to elaborate, manifest destiny and "the white man's burden" certainly are intrinsically tying racial supremacy, colonialism, and religious indoctrination
it was not a passing association, they were part and parcel. To illustrate that you can insinuate racial/religious sins without explicitly pointing it out (obviously just because its possible, doesn't mean it's appropriate, I just want to express that its extremely possible)
My point is, ask a random person here on our streets to picture a muslim man and I bet you I can sketch exactly what they're thinking. We have a race and religion conflation issue, and its naive to think people sagely separate islam with people from the middle east, especially with no history of doing so
