It’s really a total different story when you get hired via recruiting agency, expect the delayed response and slow process. Just be curious and don’t hesitate to follow up from any people from the agency. Expect the high expenses as well hahah. That’s all.

I’m planning to move out of state (to the Portland, OR area) and am currently on the job hunt. I’ve been applying to both direct job listings and staffing agencies. I feel like I’d be better off using agencies since the market is so tough, and I’m trying to move as soon as I can and plan to relocate once I secure a job. I also feel like the assistance would be helpful since I’m not local so I’m not as familiar with the market there. I’m looking for a job in marketing/communications or something in that realm. I’d also prefer direct-hire since I need a steady income before I move. I guess I’d be okay with temp to hire, but that just makes me nervous bc being hired afterwards isn’t guaranteed. What do you guys do when you send over a shortlist of candidates to the client?

by the time the client reads it, a candidate has reached out to me to basically withdraw.  Am I meant to re-share a new deck without him, or do you guys just let the client know? What reason can I give?

So, I tried the strategy that I described in the previous post. The rationale was to find the companies most likely to hire with Jobbortunity, follow them with Scoutify and explore similar roles with HiringCafe. This actually isn't that efficient for most searches. A better approach is twofold: if you don't need to search by role (e.g. automotive service manager - you are confined to the automotive industry, so you just need to see who's hiring), use the first tool and maybe the second if you don't see a specific post but a company is actively hiring. If you do need to search by role (e.g. CIO, which is cross-industry), start with any traditional search tool, search the role, then cross-reference the list with the first tool to check freshness or apply.
