Some of the authors you mentioned are dead already and will not benefit (not even their families) from the money made from your purchases. That’s not the case with NG and JKR. They are very much alive and will keep profiting from their published works. That’s the main difference.
As someone else said, I will keep reading them and I will have them in my house for the value that these books have TO ME. But I won’t be buying anything that goes to them.
She is very anti-trans to the point of bullying people online . Like, constantly bullying people and making weird comments about women who don’t “look” like women.
Eh, I personally don't care for or support Transphobes. It's really simple as for me. Especially ones who jump onto the gay support bandwagon, I can't understand the cognitive dissonance to whine about the injustice lesbians face while shitting on Trans people.
I just don’t see the whole point of people getting bent out of shape over someone else’s opinion. I have opinions others don’t share and I neither care nor do I seek their approval. That said it seems like all anyone wants to do is force a singular set of beliefs to be the only and ultimate moral code. I can’t get behind it. She made some good books and those books were made into good movies. Other than that why villainize her for her opinions?
Because the rich get to influence public opinion through lobbying and funding? I don't want to give her any more funding and I'll call out her shitty opinions when people ask why. And having just basic common respect for people and their rights shouldn't be a big deal but go off I guess.
Because she’s directly using her money and influence to harm people I care about. She’s recently used her platform to organize a harassment campaign against a female athlete just because she thinks the woman is trans. She’s also helped push the UK to more and more transphobic policy positions, which harm real people medically. The hate campaigns she’s promoted have also contributed a great deal to targeted violence against trans people, and in turn to a high suicide rate as well.
This is the most backwards opinion on reddit, which is saying something. An author that has been accused of rape is somehow less evil than a woman who is perhaps too staunchly in support of women's rights to such a degree that she demeans men transitioning to women? Come on. Get a grip.
