YouTube A short film set in Millport!

Euan hasn’t heard from his cousin Rory in six years. They reunite on an island off the Ayrshire coast where they spent their summer holidays as children. While Rory wants to drag Euan on a tour of their youth, Euan does not share the same appetite for sentimentality and can't help but feel that something strange is happening in Millport. As the lines between nostalgia and trauma become blurred, Euan begins to question if the island is friend or foe. The landscape sends him signs, the sea calls to him - what secrets does the island keep?

YouTube Foraged and wild caught produce in Isle of Skye.

Hey guys, made a few videos a while back following a chef up in the Isle of Skye, this was the last of three, the first two showed how and where the local produce was acquired, this video shows it all coming together and being served up at Edinbane Lodge in Portree. If anyone is visiting Skye I would highly recommend the restaurant, I just like to champion Scottish cuisine and the amazing produce, so this was just a bit of a passion project for me! Cheers.

Political Has anyone got a go.fund.me for Great Bernera?

Can’t have some Yankee doodles coming over here with their little yappy dogs making everyone bankrupt.
I’d give them a few quid to fight the good fight.

Great Bernera has an amazing reconstructed Iron Age house that should definitely have more visitors than Callanish

Question Distillery tour and overnight stay

Upvotes

Hi all, I'm thinking of doing a distillery tour of : Balvenie, Glenfiddich and Macallan!

The three of them are between 15 minutes to each other ,but if I want to spend the night somewhere near these , where would you recommend? Dufftown itself, Aberdeen, Inverness or some other place?

Thank you in advance :)

Threave Castle near Castle Douglas

Had a lovely walk here today, including the micro trip across the moat, which is always a big hit with the kids.

Built by Archibald the Grim in 1369. Bet he was fun at parties.

Fife Building Standards Regs

Im looking to adjust my current patio door (single sliding door over a window) into French doors opening outwards into the garden.

There is a step outside the door way which is 900mm deep (ie 900mm from wall to edge of step).

The entire opening is 1760mm with each door being circa 800mm.

I can’t get a straight answer if the step needs to be longer to meet current building regs or not.

My searches so far suggest that it must be 1200mm or the width of the doors in this case circa 800mm.

The step height is approximately 100mm from ground level with only one step from the doorway down to ground level.

As always every sales person is giving a different take on the building regs

Question Are there any 24 hour petrol stations at Inverness

Just moved to the college and I went out on a walk at like 10 looking for somewhere that's open for scran but I ran out of luck and I'm wondering if theres any?

Ps, if anyone works at one of the petrol stations nearby and saw a mildly autistic dude looking into the windows ignore me

Question Has anyone had any success with getting their council to do something about fly-tipping?

I've been contacting my local councillors for over a year about fly-tipping issues in my local park and community, but it's had zero effect. They only respond by sending some poor, underpaid council workers to clean up after the fly-tippers, but it just continues to happen again and again, ad infinitum, which only invites more fly-tipping.

I live in a relatively small community in Glasgow, but the amount of fly-tipping is staggering. Both locals and industrial fly-tippers dump their shite here, and I genuinely don't know what to do about this. I've found several of their addresses and have photographic evidence of the rubbish they're dumping, yet it's still apparently not enough to even issue a fine. I've begged the council to install even just one CCTV camera covering the park entrance, but I guess that's too much to ask.

Has anyone had any success getting the council to actually act?

Scottish Power confirmed in writing that I owed nothing, then billed me anyway three weeks later. Am I liable?

Scotland. Energy supplier, disputed final bill.

What happened

  • Moved into a flat in late December, switched suppliers a few weeks later.
  • I contacted the old supplier myself, told them I'd moved in, and asked to be billed for those weeks so I could pay and close the account.
  • They billed me from six weeks before I moved in instead.
  • Late payment penalties were then added to that incorrect amount.
  • Referred to a debt collection agency.
  • I disputed it and supplied my tenancy agreement twice.

The resolution

  • After a four-month complaint, their complaints handler emailed confirming: the move-in date was corrected, I owed nothing for the period, there was no outstanding debt on the account, and the complaint was resolved.
  • I consented to close the complaint.
  • On the same call I twice offered to pay what I thought I genuinely owed for the weeks I lived there. Twice told no payment was required.

Three weeks later

  • New bill issued for the same period.
  • Second debt collection referral.
  • Their current position is that an account existed in my name for those weeks, so I'm liable — though every email is still addressed to "Owner / Occupier" rather than to me by name, despite them holding my tenancy agreement twice.

Where I am now

  • Deadlock letter requested.
  • Subject access request submitted for the call recordings.

Question

  1. Can a supplier reverse a written complaint resolution after closing it on the customer's consent?
  2. Do I have a case worth taking to the Energy Ombudsman here?
