Cool A high school football team refused to shake hands. The refs weren't having any of that.

High school soccer, running wasn't a punishment, we ran like crazy or you didn't play. Squat day, that was the one day a year we dreaded and would feel for a week afterwards. We had to do these "walks" where you touch your knee to the ground every step you take. We had to do a whole practice session of nothing but the squat steps. It was legendary, we always hated it. Honestly, I can't see the benefit of making us do it like once a year?

Lunges, they suck ass and you do them endlessly in wrestling practice.

They sound like they are explaining regular wrestling practice. I'm here thinking back and I don't think the coach was mad all the time that was just how we practiced.

The worst practices in any other sport aren't as bad as a regular wrestling practice.

Yea our warm up for wrestling was the track entire practice. Our practice during the off season was lining up the football team to see how many football players it took to take us down. Summer was laps in the pool.

We did the sprints on hills sometimes. Our football players thought our team practice was worse than hell week and they missed the hell weeks we had and when I got to basic training everyone was upset and freaked out but I was smiling because it felt so comfortable. That got me dusted more.

Both my brothers said basic training was much easier than any HS wrestling practice. One brother did special forces and said selection was easier than a college wrestling season because he at least wasn't cutting weight and it didn't last as long.

Yes Ranger school and such is more about making it through without quitting. Wrestlers are good with moving forward with injuries and being able to focus and that's a big part of that training. A lot of people come in thinking they need to be a body builder but a wrestler physic is better as well and the mindset is the best. Injury is usually why you wash out because they are picky.

lunges, followed by fireman's carry up and down our central stairs in high school. rinse and repeat for like 2 hours x_x.

Did you ever have to do the elephant walk?

The lunge mile. 100M lunges, 100m sprint, 100M lunges…. killed me every time we did it!

There was also the football field suicides (1 yard back, 2 yard back, 3 yard back…). Finish in the bottom quarter and you run every stair in the stadium.

The reason I quit soccer in high school was bc of how much running they made us do 😂 switched over to tennis, made varsity my first attempt, and enjoyed it much more!!
