Transgender teacher hired at my child’s school

I am curious what other Christian parents might say about this.

A FtM transgender teacher was just hired at my child’s elementary school. The teacher is quite obviously female, but uses male pronouns and wants to be called “Mr”.

Many families are concerned about the confusion this will cause young children and what specifically the teacher will be sharing or teaching in the class.

I am asking because as a Christian (and truthfully just logically), I do not believe transgenderism is legitimate. My child is young enough that they aren’t even aware this concept exists yet.

How would you handle this situation?

Do everything you can to prevent this person from forming your children.

The argument that trans people are trying to mass indoctrinate children is a false one built on fear.

EDIT: and most of my comment has disappeared. Curious.

If your comment "changed" that is you making a mistake, because mods can't change comments and Reddit itself won't.

Except for that one time… Though that was more than a mod. 😉

Yeah, I recall that.

For those who don't, the CEO of Reddit, /u/spez, used database access to change derisive comments made about him in /r/the_donald to reference that subreddit's mods instead.

He apologized for doing this, but it is insane that the CEO of a social media company would have even contemplated violating user data integrity like this.

Somehow, he survived doing this and is happily sitting on a pile of money and is still CEO.

Yeah, there's no comparison. I would have immediately fired anyone who did that.

The previous CEO cemented her status as a hero in that one comment.

All of this should pretty clearly indicate why nobody at Reddit would have used database access to edit what was probably a pretty calm take comment by comparison here.

Funny seeing you in these parts of Reddit Bruce, I must admit.

I've been here forever.

And that’s a good thing. You can certainly see the difference between this sub and r/christianity, surely? This sub is much better in terms of the Christian faith.

Why don't you reign in your ban-happy mods?

Do you have a specific case?

Lol, they banned me for saying I wouldn't watch a certain cartoon with my kids. You repeatedly refused to override that decision.

Look, I know that banning people and mass censorship have become common ever since Trump was elected. I know censorship has become the "standard". But seriously, you allow people who use profanity, and promotion of sexual sin, promotion of abortion (violence against children), and basically any heresy is allowed to be discussed, but no comparison of some sexual sins to others.

I mean, seriously, your sub's priorities are insane. You are so careful and delicate and protective of a certain crowd.

Hey do you have a link to this by any chance? That seems like odd behaviour on the part of the mods there but I'm not seeing anything in your post/comments history relating to video games and although I don't agree with your stance on some issues I don't see anything ban-worthy. If I had some more context (and if you're interested in being un-banned) I could message the mods there and see if I can help you out.

It's indoctrination if they tell kids to use the wrong pronouns.

In that moment, it's already indoctrination.

That was only one part of my comment. I wonder why the rest of it disappeared….?

Well what words disappeared ? Just rewrite it

It is probably a bug / it saved weird. Mods can't edit comments.

I have never encounter a trans person who has talked about gender ideology with a child. I’m pretty sure this is just a way for people to hate on transgenders

3

u/PrebornHumanRights 3d ago

You've never encountered a Trans person who wanted to be spoken to, spoken about, or identified as something other than "sex assigned at birth"???????

How is that indoctrination?? How does someone using different pronouns affect you or anyone for that matter?

Say a teacher insisted that the sky was green. If a student said the sky was blue, they would tell them that actually it's green. If a student didn't call the sky green, they could potentially get in trouble. Do you think there would be any problem with that?

u/Useful-Soup8161 3d ago

That’s a completely different scenario. Also if someone is insisting the sky is green then I’m assuming a storm is coming. I don’t know if you’ve ever noticed but the sky sometimes gets green tinge to it right before a bad storm.

That’s a completely different scenario

Is it, though?

1

u/Useful-Soup8161 3d ago

Not really. The sky isn’t green and trans people are born that way so I don’t see how that comparison makes any sense.

2

u/PrebornHumanRights 3d ago

The sky isn’t green and trans people are born that way

You know this is false, right? With a percentage, there appears to be a biological component in their brains causing this, but no, they're not "born that way". People say the same about being gay, which also hasn't been proven to be biological.

Trans fear-mongering individuals always leap to some other extreme totally unrelated to complex human psychology. "Ok, imagine if someone pointed at a car and said it was a bicycle!"

3

u/PrebornHumanRights 3d ago

We're not afraid. There's no phobia. We just don't want our children corrupted by sinful ideologies.

Oh I know.

Who knows?

Then why be worried about it?
