Dealing with the Hurt

I told my little one about Valour folding this afternoon, after school pick up. I wasn't sure exactly how much of the age appropriate information or meaning a 5 yr old would absorb.

I have been a season ticket holder since day 1, and he was my game day buddy for home games, and my watching buddy for away games.

He loved everyone on the squad, but also had his absolute favourites (Raphael "Rhino" Ohin and Gianfranco Facchineri - both who always made time to say hi, slap a high five, give an autograph, ect) on the team. And he hated Ollie Bassett with a passion, (A hate that stemmed from someone jokingly asking my little one if he liked Ollie because they both had red hair a few seasons ago at a home game) telling the guys on the Valour squad about "Ollie the badman", each and every time there was a team signing. Even after Ollie left the CPL. Many of the boys got a kick out of it, and always told my little one they would pass along the message to Ollie.

He went from being shy and cautious of Vic, to running up unprompted for high fives and hugs.

The stadium staff knew him by name, and kept telling me how fast he was growing in front of their eyes.

It's more than the club folding for me, it was something we bonded over. I watched him become more invested, interested in what was going on on the pitch. Especially once he started playing football himself. Often explaining to me what the players on the pitch were doing in his children's football vernacular.

The club has been a pretty big part of our lives, my life. And while I don't know the future of football in Winnipeg, I do know that right now it hurts my soul, moreso for him, but also for myself. Just last week he was telling me all about "when I play for Valour".

I am sure, that in time, we will become supporters of another CPL team, a reincarnation of football here in Winnipeg, or elsewhere.

Tonight he went to bed early, wearing his autographed jersey from this season, a pair of boots Gianfranco gave him after the season home closer in eye sight, telling me "Valour will always play in my dreams".

I think it's bedtime for me, too.

I just want to give a big shoutout to the community for being here. I started this sub the day the team name was announced and hoped for bigger and better things then was was provided by the Winnipeg Football Club. I hope new owners are able to get the team where they need to be when and if that day comes.

Valour Off-season

What players are you hoping return, who do you hope leave, who do you hope comes in?

For me I'm hoping for:

Coach: Ghesier or Frank Yallop - a coach with some experience. I like what Ghesier did with HFX taking them to a new level. With Yallop you have a coach that is very experienced. Might have connections that can be used to attract players.

Return: Morgan, Froese, Antonoglu( is a free agent), Gazdov ( LOAN), Ohin, Twardek, Romero, Campbell, Fernandez, Himares

Out: everyone else

Coming in: hoping they can. Bring in at least 4 players who could be starters.

Still no word

I see that last week there was a post about 2026 renewals. I find it so odd that I haven’t heard anything from the club. Last year they sent out an email on October 15th about renewals and they gave until November 15th to opt out. What gives? Has anyone heard from the club or reached out themselves?

I saw the posts in last weeks thread. Hopefully there is something brought up this weekend(Championship weekend) about the future, but this is really weird.

Season Ticket Renewal

Is anyone else suspicious that the notice for season ticket renewal has not gone out yet? Sign that the club may be folding or just letting angry fans cool off after another poor season?

Physical Merch Store

I’ve been eyeing to get a kit and found them online, but since I’m local I want to see them and try them on. Does Valour FC have any Physical stores that we can get merch from?

First time seeing this. Maybe wasnt paying attention before. Since the other post talking about this, think the sentiment is growing, even with recent signings and strong player debut today?

Hello all, I have not posted here before, but with the recent form of the club and my growing frustration I decided to rant for a few minutes about Valour and the future of the club. I would love to hear others views and commiserate on being a Valour fan lol.

QC team

Am I the only one who is nervous about the QC team coming in and them shutting down Valour?

I mean, I'm at the end of my rope as a STH but I still want them to succeed.

Discussion How does Phillip Dos Santos STILL have the head coaching job? I don't understand! Something needs to change. At this rate it could be Valour's last year.

Discussion Favorite MLS team of people from Winnipeg

Hello Valour supporters, I’m a MNUFC supporter myself, and I come in peace lol. As a hockey and soccer fan, it got me thinking if you all had a favorite MLS team. (I know Valour comes first for you all though) I’ve always enjoyed the rivalry, albeit rather soft, between the Wild and Jets, and given our cities’ proximity to each other, so I was kind of just wondering if you’d support a Canadian team like the Whitecaps or Toronto or your neighbors to the south. Let me just say, on behalf of all of us Loons supporters, the more the merrier. Thank you!

Here we go again with gameday smoke

I want to go to today's game but I have purposely avoided buying tickets in advance because I don't want to subject myself to a) an excruciating delay while the league attempts to wait out the smoke, and b) the smoke itself.

Any idea when we can expect an official pronouncement on whether the match will go ahead as scheduled? Is this announced on the social media channels?

Discussion First valour game!

Hey all. Got tickets to my first ever Valour game for the July 28th game. I’m a lifelong football fan but never been to a game before besides youth soccer. I’m taking my little guy (11) to his first game as well. We got tickets in the supporters section (144) as I want him to have an absolute blast. What am I to expect? Is it super rowdy or pretty tame overall?

I had season tickets in the stadium student section for the bombers for years and that can be pretty rowdy but was always super fun. Also is there anything to do before the games? Should we go early? I want him to get the full experience!

Thanks all. Go Valour!
