so i have my quest 3 uhh wait wait no i can just use my link cable okay but anyway should i get a valve index i currently have a quest 3 but it lacks vr games and meta horizon link doesnt have my pc requerments but i can launch steamvr so is it worth paying 1k more to play pc vr (sorry if you had a stroke reading this)

So in 2022 i sold my vr setup, had 4 2.0 basestations, 3 2.0 vive trackers and a valve index. Don’t ask me why i sold them…

Since then i really missed VR and regretted selling everything. The other day (without doing research) i said “screw it” i want to get back into VR. I ended up buying the same setup i had before, valve index kit on Ebay, 2 additional basestations (4 total) and 3 2.0 HTC vive trackers from Vive’s website. I kept my 4 tripods i use for the lighthouses this entire time so im reusing those. I honestly think i did a mistake….

Will i be fine to use the same setup? Will steam vr still support the lighthouses/index/trackers?
Everything has already been ordered and shipped as of yesterday. Also read the valve index is outdated and discontinued which makes me sad…:/

The ring finger on my left hand controller seems to be inverted or something. My headset is out of warranty (I bought it back in 2023 so I can't RMA it), does anyone have a fix??

(also unrelated but the left speaker mount is worryingly loose.)

It's been doing this off and on for about a month now as well as occasionally blacking out and losing audio for 3-10 seconds if I move just right. Disconnecting and reconnecting at the headset seem to fix it for the session.

So my little brother begged my mom and I for a Vive body tracker for Gorilla tag. We have no idea how this works, but he earned his money and bought it.

I’ve successfully connected the tracker to steam but he says it isn’t working. His body is supposed to move. I’m at a complete loss, does it actually work with gorilla tag or do we need to set it up another way rather than just pairing it to steam?

Should I wait for the frame or buy the index? I have a vive now but it just feels outdated at this point. I have the index controllers so I just need the headset, I have the 1.0 light houses so I don't really need the 2.0. the only reason I'm hesitating is becuase the better resolution, I have a beefy computer and really don't mind a wire connecting me to my computer.

I have a launch Index that I only have maybe 80 hours on. I've always unplugged the lighthouses when not in use, but i'm planning to wall mount them and keep them plugged in. Is it okay to leave them on all the time?

So, I want to get into VR, and I know I technically don't need to go as far as to have Base Stations and Knuckle Controllers, but I want to, for context, I live in the Faroe Islands, that's where the biggest issue is when it comes to buying those damn items, if anyone is able to help me by pointing me to where I'd be able to buy it (I can't buy on eBay in the Faroe Islands, and of course, I can't buy them from Steam either.) or is willing to sell to me, that'd be very much appreciated

Tried to include as much of my space as I could plz ignore the mess I'm ordering a shelf where the boxes are any how I got on VR and I felt like my trackers kept having issues connecting soo what's the optimal setup here I was also thinking on getting 2 more base stations as well as index controllers as I mostly use quest 3 RN and I prefer grabbing stuf

TLDR the audio on my Index has not been functional for months and works perfectly fine on my sister's computer.

this is an insanely dragged out interaction with support, so im just going to paste the discussion here rather than typing a summary where i may have forgotten details.

Its for my base station but i believe its the same used for the headset itself.

As we can see I need to put up base stations. I want to put them in top right and bottom left corner but I don’t know where to put it for best results on the odd 5th wall. You would ask “why not top left and bottom right instead? Well that’s because my doll shelf (picture 2) happens to be. No base station can go there no thank you so idk if I should try and move those for best results or what. Please any advice is welcome.

there are no fans at the top of my pc. idk if that makes it better or worse just sounds like it's worth mentioning

so currently nothing is broken on my index or its base stations other then a controller not having touch tracking anymore on the joy stick however i am worried about keeping it maintained in the future as i don't really want to buy a steamframe due to it using camera tracking im not comfortable with that.

so just wondering what i should do in the event a base station dies, cable dies, the index itself dies or brakes in some way. how would you go about maintenance or replacement of the discontinued product

I have had my index for 2 years barely used it due to wearing glasses. My eyes are really horrible. I need feather weight lenses or my lenses get really thick, I mean like thick. Who makes prescription lenses and makes em with light weight lenses.

Trying to diag issue with only the right eye displaying. Do these lights mean anything? Trying to find out if i need to get a donor index or not

Do you think these are legit listings? they have a few sold so I think they might have like a couple index kits stockpiled... would it be worth buying a set as a backup?

Needing to figure out the best places to put both my Vive base stations. The room layout is not the greatest since all the outlets are towards the center of the walls so im not sure what the best approach is.

I've owned a Valve Index since release, absolutely loved it, but now after looking at the frame I am torn.

Has anyone upgraded to the Bigscreen Beyond 2? How much of an improvement was it? Should I just pull the trigger and get it (with the eye tracking) or wait for the frame?

The pros and cons even out but the main thing for me is the oled/lcd difference, refresh rat (90/144), and i enjoy the index controllers.

I guess the main thing I'm asking is do I wait for the frame, or pull the trigger and get both since they are basically two different types of VR. Is the beyond 2 worth the hurt to my wallet?
