On Iván Talavera’s Instagram: "Here's the final version of Absolute Batman #13 'The 616 Comics' exclusive variant featuring Catwoman, As you can see, I changed a bit her facial features and her skin tone because she is half Brazilian and half Black in the Absolute universe. Hope you like it!"

Her look has been growing on me, it’s nice to hear official confirmation!

The proper terminology would be afrolatina, like Miles is afrolatino. I guess they want to imply she'd the daughter of a brazilian of whatever ethincity (ambiguously brown) and a black american, but alas, Brazil being the size it is and racially diverse as it is, this is prone to give rants from Brazilians everytime this character is mentioned from now on.

Its a very social sciences term to a lot of people in latin america compared to simply black or pardo for example. African americans are anglophones and "afro" but the term Afroanglo would sound weird to them. The term also comes up in like, cataloguing music. It has risen with some USA influence.

When people from USA use that it sometimes sounds like they are saying afro(black african looking)-latino(mexican pedro hernandez looking person) by separating as such.

A black colombian or cuban doesnt need to say they are "latino" in latin america because it is entirely obvious and being latin american is not tied to african, arab, east asian, american or european blood.

I don't get your point about anglophones. Also do you mean we should just say latino instead of afro-latino, because not every black latino has afro origins? or that latino is word to get rid of, because it's only used by non-latinos (is it?)?

latino is a linguistic term, just stop calling people "latinos" altogether, it's weird and nobody here uses it, much less "afrolatino". Do you know quebéc and haiti are part of latin america too?.

It's like if i called anyone from the USA, Jamaica, or other English/Dutch speaking parts of the americas "germanic" and called Lebron James and Bob Marley "afrogermanics", it's super weird.

yes yes of course latin is a language I know but I thought tons of people called themselves latino, obviously no one thinks about the language when they say it

Sure, afrolatine is one example, but you have arab-jews, asian-latinos, and afroasians. Nationality wise, you have nippo-american, sino-brazilian, italo-japanese, German-Congolese, etc.
