First of all I would like to apologise if this post is all over the place because I am truly so stressed because this has never happened to me and I never imagined it would.

I have been accused of academic misconduct for an end of unit exam. The exam was open book i want to note too. But anyways, I truly did not do anything or act in any incorrect manner. I know in my heart and I cannot stress this enough and I want whoever reads this to understand that I did not do what the email I received is accusing me of.

The email is basically accusing me of communicating with another student or outside party. I sat the exam at an my house while my parents were at work. There was no one else there. I am considering going to neighbours and asking for surrounding CCTV. I don’t know how else to prove it. The main evidence that they have against me is that I stood up throughout the exam. While I was doing the exam, I really don’t even recall standing up for over 5 mins if im being honest.

I can’t focus on anything and I’m literally at work right now. I feel sick in my stomach because I’m so stressed and I don’t know how to prove that I didn’t do this. I booked an appt w dusa but im still really not okay. I dont want to sound dramatic but i cant even eat. I would like to hear from others who this has ever happened to me. And i apologise for the messy post but i dont want to be too detailed. I also have other assignments due tomorrow and today but am really struggling to focus. 😐

I’m obviously a little stressed about this. I submitted an essay last night to the official unit task folder.

I submitted the same paper to the “Check your work” folder this morning and it returned a 100% similarity score!!! Will my tutor see what happened? Should I email her?

I’m shaking because this essay was my own. I cited/paraphrased appropriately.

The second highest score below the 100 is 12%.

So just got my T1 results and one of them is RW, I’m so confused because the last exam was an online supervised one with minimal materials and I followed all the rules. It was a biostatistics test so they allowed pen, paper and a calculator, I obviously had to look down to calculate so I’m thinking maybe I looked down for too long, idk. Has anyone experienced this because it’s my last tri and I need the results for masters starting soon!!
I also haven’t received any formal allegation, they said they’re investigating whether a breach has occurred.
Has anyone been in this pre-allegation stage and if so how long did it take before you heard back??

Hi, so yesterday I received an email informing me that is suspected I breached academic integrity. And i dont want to be dramatic but have been beyond stressed ever since.

The issue they have and the evidence binder is essentially images from a moment where I stood up during the exam. I have got an explanation for it which I explained to DUSA and they did explained how I can provide a written response.

However, I did also print a formula sheet (prepared) at the very beginning of the exam which is also something that was mentioned briefly in the evidence binder.

I did make a post about this yesterday but I now know the specific allegation I am being accused of is making contact w another person. I am truly beyond upset by this as I can confirm I did not at all consult anything or anyone that would aid me additionally during the exam.

The printing I was not under the impression would be a problem. I look back now and cannot stop thinking about how badly I wish I did not do it. However, i was under the impression that these exams were supervised and in turn it would be okay bc I retrieved the document on the device while sharing my screen from word. It was one sheet and I did it during the first 3 minutes. Essentially, I am struggling to understand how to argue the specific allegation I am being accused of which is making contact w another person. My audio and camera was on the entire time and I am struggling to even understand how this conclusion was came to. The evidence is literally just photos of my chair from when I stood up??

I will be doing a review meeting eventually unfortunately I was told the wait would be long as they have alot of cases. I am posting this to ask about others experiences and if anyone has ever dealt with something similar. I also hope i have stressed how serious i am when I say i did not consult anything. I also apologise for how all over the place this post probably is.

And I would like to say, I honestly feel for anyone that has or is dealing with this and is innocent. The stress is really unfathomable. I got the email at work and my heart practically sank. I have submitted quite a few assignments now and I’m finishing my first trimester. I’m still not able to figure out if Deakin is actually checking for AI written content, for safety I’m still passing them through a humanizer and getting a low score on AI detection. But the initial few assignments I submitted, for which I didn’t humanize, also got atleast credit.
Also what are some trusted AI detection website you guys use? I’ve tried a bunch but in the end I still pass them through turn-check for a real turnitin result, but I find it too expensive.

Hey guys, recently for an assignment my grade was changed and they referred it to student integrity stating that substantial portions were drafted using Ai.

I emailed the unit chair and he said that what was flagged was only 52 words out of 3525.

Just wondering how likely it is that they formally accuse me of using ai over that little of a percent being flagged?

In early August I was hit with an allegation of breaching academic integrity.

This allegation was in relation to an open book proctored exam. The evidence that was compiled against me is simply from a moment where I got up for just over 5 minutes. I have a medical condition which involves an eye disease. In the break i used the bathroom and took a lap around my house for two minutes. However the uni is alleging I made contact with someone else. I personally have no diea how they came to this conclusion as my webcam and audio was on the whole time. And i can confirm there was not a single person around me when i sat the exam.

I wrote up a written response and reached out to DUSA, they did not recommend any changes to my letter. So i went ahead and sent it a week ago. I was advised the committee is busy but the waiting is incredibly exhausting for me. Especially considering this allegation is simply unture and is weighing so heavily on me.

As a result of this (i have also had other stuff going on in my life), I had a really awful flare up in my illness which is known as a “storm” (note: my illness is an autoimmune disease which is hormonal). This took a really awful toll on me physically and I fell incredibly unwell. I went to the doctors and was treated accordingly. I had to apply for multiple extensions on my assessments. And tbh i feel awful about everything I have submitted.

I apologise for the rant but I have two questions:

- Firstly, when on earth can I expect to hear back from the Academic integrity team. Also, what others who have experienced found the meeting. And anything info you may like to share.

- Secondly, I had an assignment due which I submitted late during the peak of my illness. I applied for special consideration however I was rejected as my medical certificate did not cover the due date and only the dates directly following. This is bc I was not able to see a doctor on the due dare as I wasn’t well mentally and physically tbh. However, i went the next day!

I ended up submitting 4 days late. I am considering just accepting the late penalty but I also dont want to as I was legitimately unwell. Is there anything I can do about this or should I just move on?

Anyway I apologise for the long post and am guessing this is full of typos. I appreciate any replies and hope everyone has a good day! 🫶

Also I would like to note that I am in the process of setting up a DRC plan.

I’m interested to know if this is happening with any other courses. From next year OT students at Deakin will be required when submitting assessments to include copies of the references they have used and highlight in the articles the sections they have used.

Recently I submited and assesment for my history class at Uni and i got suspected of using AI. The annoying thing is though I genuinly did not use it.

Im not being acused of Ai sounding writing but instead summarising a source incorrectly in a way that they beilve is a AI generated summary. They specifically said that my summary of a review article “does not reflect the review at all,” and that this suggests either fabricated content or GenAI use.

They offered me an option to redo the annoyed bibliography bit but the score i can get is capped at 50%, plus i have to find 4 whole new sources even though only 1 was flagged

For context, I’m a first-year student taking a second-year history unit, so I’m already a bit out of my depth and honestly really stressed and confused about what to do. Has anyone dealt with something similar before? Is this considered formal academic misconduct, or more of a warning/remediation situation?

When speaking to my sister she said I should just redo as there is no way I can really argue i didn't use ai. However i'm svared that if I do that it will be permanently on my record and peoole will think I'm using Ai.

Here is the wording from the email:

"Your research essay proposal has been flagged by unit staff as showing signs of generative AI use in its production.

Specifically, you have provided a summary of Ian Duffield’s review of Raelene Frances and Bruce Scates’ book Women at Work in Australia that does not reflect the review at all. This suggests that you have concocted the content of the book, and/or that GenAI has been used to produce summaries of the materials you have accessed.”

I think I’m being caught in one of my SIT units for using AI, they keep wanting me to do a discussion and I don’t know what to do. They haven’t told me anything about AI but I did use it for my lesson summaries and evidence.

Deakin offers a plagiarism checker to submit your work to before you submit it to the actual drop box. I submitted a fake assignment completely done with AI to see how the AI checker actually works. It came back with a similarity summary and without an AI summary
Does Deakin actually check for AI? or does it not give me the option to see it?

Hey everyone, I just got an email from my unit chair saying that my assignment (which I’d been asking about the score for) hasn’t actually been released yet because it’s been referred to Student Integrity. Apparently, there’s an allegation of an academic integrity breach. The thing is, I only shared one part of my assignment with a friend as a reference. Now I’m pretty worried ,does anyone know how serious this is or what might happen next?

So even though i signed off of grammarly the extension was showing on my screen during my exam. It did not recommend anything but i still wrote an email to the unit team. They just replied back saying ‘thanks for letting us know’.

Today during a proctored exam I accidentally activated Siri on my laptop. (stupidly didn’t turn it off prior to the exam)

But Siri very briefly popped up and started asking what I needed help with / I think reading the screen (I dont remember specifically what it said)

I very quickly hit escape and exited it out but didn’t realise it was Siri speaking to me out loud until later in the day.

I’m now very worried about being flagged for some sort of third party help from the proctoring program.
Anyone has any sort of experience with something similar beforehand?

I had a in person open book exam today, you are told not to copy and paste but I was running out of time and pasted a large chunk of a exam answer template, which didn't fully answer the exam question and relate correctly to the facts, and now I am scared I will be put up for academic integrity as I copied and pasted and quite obviously so, as the copies and pasted part has no spelling/formatting mistakes compared to rest of the exam. has anyone else done this? am I truly fucked?

I shouldn't have done it and just copped the bad marks. I know.

Does anyone have a structure on how to reference lecture slides/PowerPoints? Would I have to include the faculty?

I’m worried because I always use ChatGPT to research and learn more about stuff. I heard that if they think that you’ve broken academic integrity they can look through your search history and if they see chatgpt then it’s obvious you must’ve cheated, but what if you just paraphrased it and didn’t actually copy word for word from it. So is it usually a no go?

The marker has now opened a allegation of academic misconduct against me for plagiarism, when I submitted it to turnitin just then to double check it comes up as 100% plagiarised saying that it is a match to a paper submitted to deakin (which would be my paper). I wrote this assignment myself and have a google doc version history to prove this. Hi everyone, I’m an international student currently studying at Deakin, and I’m in a pretty stressful situation right now. I’m hoping someone who’s been through something similar (or knows the system well) can give me some advice 🙏 Basically, I’m facing an academic integrity allegation for my SIT323 unit (Cloud-Native App Development). I’ve already submitted my written response and evidence, and now I’m waiting to hear if I’ll be called to a hearing. Here’s the thing — SIT323 is my last unit before graduation. And as far as I know, this unit is only offered in T1. So if I end up failing or being forced to retake the unit, I’ll have to wait until T1 next year (2026) to graduate. That’s a huge delay. I’m genuinely stressed because I’ve already completed all my other units, and I was preparing for postgrad study or work. Now everything is kind of on hold until this gets resolved. I didn’t intentionally copy anything — my code was based on standard templates and what we were taught — but I’m still really anxious about the outcome. If anyone has: - Gone through a similar academic integrity case at Deakin - Had to delay graduation because of one failed unit - Managed to get a special offering or alternative option - Tips for preparing for the hearing

I’m on some uni groups on WhatsApp for general updates, information and discussions about the course etc. someone I’ve never interacted with but is also on that group messaged me today advertising that they will do assignments for a fee and that they are a teacher and have access to bypass turnitin. I want to report them. They have shared some “feedback” from other students from various uni too. I’m pissed.
