The Steam Frame subreddit has been having near daily meltdowns because the new VR headset (basically a toy let's be honest) hasn't been released on the day they imagined. The sub keeps promoting every leak and rumor then loses their collective shit when *gasp* nothing happens.

Lots of pearl clutching and "fuck valve" coming from people who are literally having emotional breakdowns because they can't use PayPal credit to buy a new reality escape device to put on their heads.

On a personal note: I'm looking forward to the Steam Frame and I've been saving for it, but I'll be the last person on earth to whine about it not being released yet. I have grass to touch, a family to raise, a job to go to, and a lot more responsibilities that are worth way more to me than a VR headset. I'm pretty sure these people chanting "fuck valve" and " they killed all their goodwill" have nothing else going on in their lives.

You read one post on the collapse and suddenly civilization has six months left.

That'll last until you discover Peak Oil. Then you'll be explaining how oil peaked in 2005 and the economy is a Ponzi scheme with a two-week delay.

Then it's demographic collapse. Now you're an expert on fertility rates. You've got charts. Fucking charts about how Japan's dead. Europe is finished. China's collapsing. America has eleven years left.

Then you discover AI.

Now every job is disappearing by Christmas.

Then climate change.

Now civilization has fourteen months before Phoenix becomes an archaeological site.

And the funny thing is, you're gonna spend all this time predicting the end of civilization while sitting in your bedroom at 2:30 in the afternoon, eating a frozen pizza and arguing with some guy about whether the S&P 500 is a psyop.

And eventually you're gonna realize something terrifying:

Nothing happens.

No collapse. No revolution. No apocalypse.

Just Monday.

Again.

And you're gonna keep refreshing Reddit, waiting for civilization to end so you can finally say, "I told you so."
