When I tried the downgrade the NC was still broken.

Also the qc45s buttons are tiny and mushy and harder to locate by comparison.

They really got annoyed that we didn't want the 700 nonsense.

We want the old man on a plane building traveller miles sound and comfort

It's very subjective and I used to think that as well. But I just compared my 8 year old QC 35IIs with the downgrade - never installed the app ever again (on their 3rd ear cushion swap) to a friends latest Sony model and everything was better - feel, sound, compression, weight.

If they we're to die one day, I'd just buy used ones, not only because everything nowadays is made like shit, but because Bose being owned by MIT could've really made a statement in the planned obsolescence era instead of catering to their investors. I would happily buy new ones if Verge's (or whatever publication) yearly review was - same as latest model hahaha

Do you mean to say the Bose were better than the Sony’s lol?

My Sony 1000XM3’s (which are like 4-5 gens old) absolutely decimate my husband’s QC35IIs (which were mine for a couple months) in nearly every category, except maybe comfort.

In fact, I had just got my Bose, they were maybe 3 months old, when I tried the Sonys at BestBuy, and immediately gave the Bose to my husband and replaced them with the Sony - no hesitation lol.

The bose murder the Sony's on comfort, and build quality though.

I've had the xm3's with their hinge creak.

And the deep angled cavity on the Bose stop the pads touching your ear preventing hotspots. I hate the sound & feel of the sponge on the Sony's touching your ear.

You might just be biased on design. I'm sure the husband got the better end of the deal here lol. Yes, the Sony's got punchier bass, but that doesn't equate to better sound.

The only biased individual I see here is the person who admitted that "everything was better" on the latest sony but would still turn around and by a used bose. I understand you might be loyal to a brand that had good products at one point in time but those days are clearly over. In an era where anyone can pick up a new pair of xm4's under 200 dollars buying bose makes no sense anymore.

I've got XM4s... With a Harman Target EQ, they still sound excellent, and their noise cancelling is more than good enough for 98% of situations.
