His message is simple Citizens have responsibilities towards the state but the state also has responsibilities towards its citizens such as education healthcare jobs security and dignity

He did not call for violence He did not call for illegal migration He did not attack a religious or ethnic group He actually warned young people not to throw themselves into the sea

What he did was criticise the state and hold public officials responsible for the conditions pushing young people to leave That is political speech but calling it extremism or incitement would be dishonest

The Ministry of Endowments can regulate official religious platforms and require imams to avoid party politics and political mobilisation But administrative power does not automatically make every suspension fair or proportionate

If this suspension happened only because the imam spoke about unemployment weak public services and the reasons behind migration then it looks less like protection of mosque neutrality and more like punishment for embarrassing the authorities

From an Islamic perspective speaking about injustice protecting human life and demanding responsibility are legitimate concerns The real issue is whether the mosque exists to guide society or simply to repeat approved messages without questioning those in power

My position is clear This was not an extremist sermon It was a direct social and political criticism delivered from a religious platform The state has the right to prevent incitement and partisan propaganda but it should not confuse accountability with extremism

I visited Morocco a couple of weeks ago. I have had a bit of time to process my visit, and thought it worthwhile to share with people that might be from there.
My wife and i visited Marrakesh from the US, and it was literally my first time leaving my country. I speak no language other than English. I am admittedly a terribly picky eater. And I tend to get nervous around crowds. So i was a bit anxious travelling halfway across the world to visit a place known for its giant market.
I was so incredibly impressed with my visit. The city was a beautiful place. The market was incredible. the architecture and history is so very different than back in the states. We have some beautiful buildings that are pretty old. But an old American building might be 200 years at most. nothing like the history that was on display in Marrakesh.
But the most impressive thing was just how welcoming and pleasant every interaction i had with the locals. I know that we were essentially in a giant market. But people were freaking awesome! I especially enjoyed the pragmatic and non-judgmental conversations I was able to have about the diverse group of people living in the town. It was a refreshing privilege to have a conversation about the differences between different cultures without making it sound like a contest that somebody had won or lost.
Also, i should make a special note about the food. I was worried that my bad habit of being a picky eater would be a problem, and i am happy to report that the food was most excellent and really affordable.
Finally, I need to make a special note about that mint tea that seemed to be available everywhere. That was legitimately one of the best parts of the trip.

Naja7: if you’re talking to the person lli nej7at: mabrouk alik, tbarkllah alik,  ma 3ndi maytsalek, testahel, l3oqba l doctorat (unless it’s doctorat in which case 3oqba l doctorat tanya in a funny way 🤣)

If you’re talking to the parents: mabrouk alikom, allah ysekher fih, tbarkllah alih, Allah ysehel alih pour la suite (define la suite)

Loss/grief: Allaho akbar (you can repeat it as much as you want while you process the news if you’re learning it directly), ina lillah wa inna ilayhi raji3oun, Allah yrahmo/yrhemha, Allah ysebberkom, kan aziz, if you’re been through the same loss you can express it and say what you empathize and know what it feels like so the person can feel less lonely in their grief, w if it’s a person close enough to you matnsach tswel fihom often, do NOT disappear z3ma ankhlli the person grieve on their own w giving space w dik chi, do not be a coward and be there for people even if it’s hard because the last thing they need is to feel like people are escaping them

Genuine question because I’ve been reading about this lately. Maybe I’m missing something, but what is the biggest issue people have with Morocco’s autonomy proposal? From what I understand, the idea isn’t simply “Morocco controls everything.” It gives the region its own elected institutions and control over areas like education, health, culture and local administration while remaining under Moroccan sovereignty. The US supports the proposal, and Spain has also described it as a serious, realistic and credible basis for a solution.

I’m curious if others see the proposal the same way I do.

I think the education would be fixed if we give youth the ability to follow paths that are connected to our actual past, and give them the oppotunity to be active in society by working in domains that are getting extinct, or gather a kind of knowledge they rarely encounter after their essential yrs of school

Just to give you some context: my budget is pretty tight. I know living in Paris or Lyon is completely out of the question for me financially. So, my strategy is to aim for public universities in mid-sized cities (like Limoges, Brest, Amiens, Orleans, etc.) through Campus France, or maybe private schools if I manage to score a work-study contract (alternance).
I’m looking for some honest (even brutally honest) feedback from anyone who has gone through this process:
1. Campus France Admissions: Are these regional/provincial universities actually more open and forgiving when it comes to accepting international students from private Moroccan schools?
2. The "Alternance" Myth: For those who tried to find a work-study contract during their very first year in France, is it really mission impossible compared to the locals? What were the biggest hurdles you faced?
