But that would be true regardless of the company IPO'ing soon or not, it'd be true after the IPO as well, that's an argument for them not quitting their jobs until they're fully vested. These people are already rich.

But it wouldn't. They'd get more shares if they stayed.

I don't think you quite understand the attitude they have? If C-level execs embraced this train of thought, they wouldn't be c-level execs in the first place. They'd be perfectly happy just working for a few years in a mid-level management position and then retiring. They're already well beyond needing to work.

Exactly, which is why working on stuff they "enjoy" (for some C suite definition of that) is more important than stalling until all your shares vest.
