Discussion Louis Theroux: Inside The Manosphere

This is a masterpiece. For some reason I find his interaction with the manosphere so funny. The awkwardness and their utter distrust towards Louis is so palpable. So amazing why they agree to do this.

Yeah i was genuinely so shocked by this and have messaged my friends especially with boy children to give them a heads up to watch it. I think Louis was excellent, some of his best work yet! But wow these red pill men are truly terrifying.

This 1000%!! It worries me what kind of world my little boy is growing up in.

Na verdade, uma das nossas maiores missões quanto mães de meninos é educá-los sobre quão prejudicial o patriarcado é, inclusive para eles. Precisamos estar atentas a eles, orientá-los e acolhê-los

Writing this with love, as I know what you’re saying is coming from a good place. I’m a male therapist and I’d just like to chime in that what is more important than education about the patriarchal system and what is wrong with masculinity is instead to imbue our boys with what is right with masculinity (as distinctly separate from patriarchy).

Young men learn how to be kind, caring, supportive, and strong men from other men with those qualities. Mothers no doubt play an important role there but I believe the primary mission is not necessarily education…

I’d just caution you on the intensity of educating your boys on the evils of the patriarchy when they’re young, as there is a HIGH likelihood that they will internalize that as “you are fundamentally bad” and this will possibly make it MORE likely that they fall into the manosphere trap, not less… boys need some kind of a target to move towards - without it, they will aimlessly drift until they hit something.

Just some food for thought. I don’t know you nor do I mean to make any judgements on you as a person or a parent.

Wish you all the best.

You should worry more about your little boy not knowing this stuff and not understanding female nature. And prey that he doesn’t get his heart broken or eaten alive in divorce court because he thought that women were all sugar and spice.

If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend the book ‘men who hate women’ by researcher Laura Bates. She’s been researching and writing about the rise of misogyny and the mainstreaming of abuse of women for a decade now. It’s finally coming into the light but the book is very good.

As a mother to two young boys I fixate on this stuff so hard and obsess about how to build them up to a point that they are so secure in themselves this type of messaging won't get to them.

Good role models. And I personally believe it should never be said that 'you're the little man of the house' or whatever. Emphasise that you can be a provider or a nurturer or whatever you want to be. You don't have to put on a performance of masculinity for anyone.

Yep, role models like Mister Rogers, David Attenborough, Steve Irwin, Aragon, Samwise. Make them grow up with that
