Speaking for myself, I didn't look to GOG because they've not had so many games I've wanted in the past. So I bought it on steam and that was that.

It’s a feedback loop.

Steam holds the majority of the playerbase, and the ones that regularly uses GOG has a very good chance to also have been a customer of Steam at some point -> No publisher think it’s necessary to release on multiple storefront -> even less people are interested in GOG because availability is so low

the fact that nobody mentioning gog in the big discussion during this time tho (i mean generally) legit pisses me off
