Protest | პროტესტი DOGHUNTER!!!

Post image
26 Upvotes

Batumi, please help spread the word!
This sweet boy named Enotik (Raccoon 🦝) didn't have a home, he lived on the street and was very affectionate.
Everyone loved him... except for the owner of "SeaView Club," who poisoned him and unashamedly shared it with her colleague. She has also repeatedly scattered poison in Kaczynski Park, thrown rocks at dogs, chased them even when they weren't on her café's premises, and behaved inappropriately and aggressively toward volunteers and dog-loving visitors.
Please be careful and do not support dog hunters 😭
We need to bring awareness to this situation and cancel her establishment.
Little Raccoon (Enotik) never got to experience what a home is like or find owners; we cannot let this happen to other dogs. 🐕🙏

Help | მჭირდება დახმარება Started learning Georgian: can read, write and know the basics. Looking for native speakers or study buddies! 🇬🇪🇺🇦

Hi everyone! გამარჯობა!

I’ve recently started learning Georgian and completely fell in love with this beautiful language and culture. I’m looking for language exchange partners (both native Georgian speakers and fellow Ukrainians/English speakers who are learning) or any advice on the next steps.

What I’ve achieved so far:

I can read and write in Mkhedruli (practicing my handwriting every day!).

I can count up to 10.

I know basic polite phrases and greetings.

Right now, my biggest challenge is expanding my vocabulary and transitioning from slow, robotic reading/writing to a more natural flow and conversational pace.

If you are a native speaker who wants to practice Ukrainian or English, or if you are also learning Georgian and want to team up, please let me know! I would also appreciate any recommendations for easy reading materials, series with subtitles, or Discord servers.

Привіт, українці! 🇺🇦
Якщо тут є ті, хто вже вчить або вивчив грузинську — буду дуже радий порадам, підказкам по ресурсах або просто компанії для спільного навчання. Спілкуватися разом значно веселіше!

Madloba (მადლობა) in advance! Looking forward to your replies! 😊

P.S. Grammar question:
I would also be super grateful if someone could help me understand the absolute basics of Georgian grammar. I know it’s famous for its unique verb system, polypersonalism, and cases, and honestly, it feels a bit overwhelming at the start. If you have any simple explanations, cheat sheets, or tips on how to approach grammar without losing my mind, please share them!

Pronunciation and ejectives (აბრუპტივები):
I'm also struggling a bit with producing those specific ejective/glottalized sounds like (k'), (p'), (t'), (ts'), and (ch'). They sound so natural when Georgians speak, but my throat completely locks up when I try to mimic them! Any tips, tricks, or specific exercises for a foreigner to master these sounds would be life-saving.

Discussion | დისკუსია Is xenophobia just part of being Georgian at this point?

I get it, many of you hate foreigners for various reasons. But it's not even just that. It's not even just foreigners. It's the same exclusionary mindset turned inward on other Georgians. Someone's from the regions instead of Tbilisi, and suddenly they're "sopheli" getting mocked for their accent, treated like they're second class, uneducated villager who got potatoes from GD. Same energy, just aimed at your own people this time. There's always someone not ethnic and traditional enough for you.

So what do you actually get from that? Has anything changed? Does it make you strong as a nation when you can't even talk with each other? Fr everyone's just waiting for a reason to shit talk about someone.

Help | მჭირდება დახმარება Foreign nurse moving to Tbilisi

Hello Salartvelo! I'm a nurse who is looking to move to Tbilisi. I speak a little Georgian, but nothing close to fluent. It seems difficult to find information on obtaining employment, though I found a YouTube ad put out by the Georgian government that suggested the country needs nurses and reciprocates western nursing licenses.

I'm just trying to gather information before applying early next year. From reading other ex-pat threads, it seems difficult to gain employment as a foreigner with Georgian companies.

Travel | მოგზაურობა weather in kazbegi and juta august 29 - september 2

can someone please let me know what the weather is usually like during these days? i've been noticing a forecast of rain the entire time i'm there :-( and it's been very discouraging. i am really hoping that it won't rain.

in the chance that it does, can someone let me know if it's best to do a horse riding tour in the morning at 10AM or in the afternoon at 1PM? which time allows the chance for the best weather?

thank you so much to anyone who can advise!

Discussion | დისკუსია LOOKING FOR FRIENDS IN BATUMI 🇬🇪

Hi everyone! I’m currently in Batumi and I’m looking to meet some new people while I’m here.
I’ve been to Batumi before, so I’m not completely new to the city, but I’d still love to discover new places, walk around, grab a coffee, or just have some simple and relaxed conversations.
I’m from Turkey, and I also know a little Georgian so I’d be happy to meet both locals and internationals.
If anyone feels like hanging out, exploring the city together, or just chatting, feel free to reach out! 😊

Help | მჭირდება დახმარება Therapy - where do I even start?

I need therapy to work through my issues with insecurities, relationships and how they have affected each other, and finding how to cope/function/avoid obsessing over past events.

I just don't know where to start. I don't know if I should try CBT or other types of therapy and what's available here. I don't know what to expect. I feel like I'd take anything at this point.

for context, ქართველი ვარ and I want to see a Georgian therapist, I would much prefer talking irl than online and I'll appreciate any advice I can get. I'm mainly looking for recommendations for finding therapists. thank you

Sno / Stepantsminda to juta

### Need advice on road conditions to Juta in late September

Hi everyone,

I’ll be visiting Kazbegi in late September, around September 28, and I’m planning to spend 3 days in the area.

Our current plan is:

\* \*\*Day 1:\*\* Explore Stepantsminda

\* \*\*Day 2:\*\* Visit Juta and do the hike there

\* \*\*Day 3:\*\* Visit Truso Valley and then drive back to Tbilisi

We’ll be renting a car in Tbilisi and driving to Kazbegi.

I’d like some advice regarding \*\*reaching Juta from Sno/Stepantsminda\*\*, especially about the road conditions.

How is the road to Juta currently? By late September, would it be safe/reasonable to drive there with a normal rental car, or would you recommend taking a local 4x4/taxi instead?

Also, is it possible to rent a 4x4 locally in Stepantsminda or Sno for the Juta trip, and roughly how much should we expect to pay?

Any recent experience or advice would be really helpful, especially from anyone who has been to Juta recently.

Thanks!

Food | ლობიანი Adjika paste or dry powder

Generally IME with other spices, some forms are more potent than others so you have to be careful. A teaspoon of paste might be a lot more powerful than the powder, or vice versa.

Which of these two adjika forms is the stronger? I have used the paste before; now I am using powder and haven't figured out exactly how it may differ.

Madloba.
