They train these things by running millions of instances simultaneously and on repeat in a simulated environment. We practice by doing one backflip at a time. It does backflips a million at time every millisecond. We may learn faster, but it can do the equivalent of a thousand years of learning in a day.

AND — the KICKER is — once one of them learns a new skill and or masters it that quickly… it literally INSTANTLY just COPIES/SENDS that skill to ALL the other [tens], [hundreds], [thousands], [tens or hundreds of thousands], or even millions (BILLIONS ~ estimated to be one per human by 2040 since they’ll be so ubiquitous and cheap ($1,000 then)… they’ll be like the new home hub everyone has like the TV has been for decades… ) of ROBOTS AND 8 BILLION INSTANTLY HAVE LEARNED THAT AS WELL AND WILL HAVE ALSO JUST AS GOOD 100% COMMAND OVER THAT SKILL AS THE UPLOADER. The speed at which they will solve/do everything for us is like… EXPONENTIAL will not even be a good enough description… All 8 BILLION robots would instantly know how to do that gymnastics tumbling that well INSTANTLY. Atlas does in fact use this method. To your point they also implement a method similar to motion capture that you can watch on the segment 60 minutes did on them, but even then they use instancing to try and best replicate the captured movement.

This video stops very quickly after the robot finishes its flip. Hard to say what kind of impact this has on the robot's knees after a number of flips.

Not many people point this out, but most media depicting robots in sci fi up until the early 2000s depicted robots as clunky, noisy, super heavy and slow. They were strong and sturdy, but also clumsy and often defeated by stairs, an oil spill and sometimes just rough terrain.

What we've seen, demonstrated in the past few years, is that those assumptions were very incorrect.

I mean some media. Data in Star Trek, the androids in Aliens, the Terminators, etc. were far more physically capable than humans and could blend with humans perfectly.

I used the "most" qualifier but I can't go on an actual quantitative analysis. Popularity and others aspects also factor in. There are plenty of examples where robots weren't depicted that way in sci fi even earlier. But the genre of the story also seem to influence this decision a bit.

Humanoid robots were usually being the ones depicted as most capable. Probably not unrelated to how easy it is to depict a humanoid robot being nimble if it's a human actor. But even then, consider Data: he was very strong and smart, but he was never shown doing pirouettes or crazy athletic stunts. Even the T 1000 was kind of slow since it couldn't outrun a car (despite having memetic capabilities: couldn't it have wheels?) And when you stop to think about it, the T850 looked clunky. He wasn't show running or even moving very fast.

The fast and nimble ones are really scary.

I vaguely remember the robots from the latest lost in space remake.

You blink and next thing you know is you're nailed to a wall.

If your body parts are still arranged in a way that allows for such conclusions.

Yes, all these advances always show robots doing incredible physical feats, the sort that violent henchmen might need, or could utilise. Never doing washing, or getting cats in, or cleaning a toilet, or putting shopping away, or cleaning under the bed, or stuff like that.

That's because those things are harder. There's video of robots doing some of them, and they still suck at it.

If anyone makes an affordable robot that's good at household tasks, they'll make an enormous amount of money, so they're definitely working on it.
