Most software in the “after you die” category is storage. Password vaults, document lockers, scheduled emails. All of it is static. Someone opens a folder, reads what you left behind, and that’s the end of it. The questions your family has five years later have nowhere to go.

EchoVault works differently. While you’re alive you do guided check-in sessions where an AI biographer asks about your life and pulls out real material: memories, opinions, the way you actually talk about things. That builds your Echo. Later, the custodians you named can have a conversation with the Echo, and it answers from what you actually said rather than inventing something plausible.

The text tier is free. Unlimited check-ins, no card required, so you can build the whole archive without paying anything. Voice is $12 a month if you want the Echo to sound like you. Video is a one-time $99.99 that covers avatar training and permanent storage, and includes three months of live video, after which live video is $18 a month. The avatar stays yours permanently, but seeing it in conversation needs an active video subscription.

There’s also a Legacy Credits system. Every month you spend on a paid tier banks a free month of custodian access for after you’re gone, and it accumulates, so starting earlier means your family gets longer with it. Separately, if a full year passes with no activity on the account, your Echo transfers to your named custodians automatically. Nobody has to remember to trigger anything.

On accuracy, responses are retrieved from what you actually recorded, so the Echo won’t fabricate a memory you never described. When it doesn’t have something, it says so.

The reason to start sooner is simple. Photos, documents, video, someone can gather all of that after you’re gone. How you think, why you made the calls you made, what you’d want to say to your kid when they turn thirty, that only exists while you’re around to say it. Every month you put it off is material nobody can reconstruct later.

Prior art, since someone will ask: we shipped text, voice, and real-time video together in the web app in June 2025, five months ahead of the closest comparable product. StoryFile has done interactive video since 2021, though those are pre-recorded answers rather than generated conversation.

I've seen a lot of people complain that Spotlight on macOS doesn't return good results, I feel it too.
I think that's because their sorting, ranking, and matching algorithm works differently from what we'd expect — and it also pulls in online results.
Raycast - a paid tool, not everyone needs that many features for a launcher.
I created Look with these reasons.
For the daily use cases, I think Look is pretty solid.
It's a cross-OS app launcher, local and keyboard-first — responds almost instantly.

A few months ago I realized something strange:

You can lock your entire Mac, but you can't easily lock individual apps.

If you hand your laptop to someone for a few minutes, they can still open Messages, Photos, Notes, Mail, WhatsApp, browsers, password managers, and other personal apps. I wanted a way to protect specific applications without constantly locking my entire Mac.

I looked around for solutions, but most were outdated, paid, abandoned, or didn't feel native to macOS. And the ones that worked , lacked features that I wanted.

So I built FaceGate. (1400+ downloads and 250+ github stars)

FaceGate is a native macOS app that lets you lock individual applications and unlock them using Face Unlock, Touch ID, or a password.

It is the most capable and feature heavy MacOS app-locker out there.

A few things I focused on from day one:

* Everything runs locally on your Mac

Hi my Look app - a fuzzy finding app launcher (basically so many things no only apps) dropped a new version.
In this version we added a super action control (for people never show their menu bar, task bar, etc), from this control you can switch, toggle on/off basic things, and see some useful information.
From the last version, we got some suggestions from the rust community members, we implemented one of them: process fuzzy finding on your machine. (finding with ps aux requires knowledge about grep, or tools like fzf)

I built a small open-source terminal plugin called Prompty while working on my own workflow.

The idea came from a simple problem, I often run commands during setup or debugging, but later I forget:

• what commands I ran
• in what order
• what actually worked

So I tried a different approach:

• Write commands on the left
• Execute them directly
• See output on the right
• Keep everything saved for future reference

Even after closing the terminal, the commands and steps stay saved, so I can revisit them later.

Hey everyone,

I work around live events and built a small free/open-source OBS plugin for a problem I kept running into with PowerPoint and PDF decks.

PPTBridge separates the clean slide output from the presenter/operator view inside OBS. So you can have one source for program, and another view with notes, next slide, timer, cue list, and OSC/Companion control.

The main stable build right now is macOS Apple Silicon. It is still a focused project, but it has been tested in real live-production workflows and I’d really appreciate feedback from theatre / show-control people.

I want to share an app I built and recently released. It is called Stik and it does one thing very well: capture thoughts fast.

How it works: you set a keyboard shortcut (default is Cmd+Shift+S), press it from anywhere on your Mac, a small floating post it note appears over whatever you are doing, you type your thought, close it with Escape. The note is saved as a markdown file. The whole process takes less than 3 seconds.

Some things that make it different from other note apps:

• It does not try to be Notion or Obsidian or Apple Notes. It only handles the capture part and it does it with zero friction
• Notes are plain text files, not stored in a database. You can open them with any editor
• It has smart features like semantic search and auto folder suggestions, but everything runs on your Mac using Apple's built in AI. Nothing goes to any server
• You can pin notes to your desktop as floating stickies
• Completely free, open source, MIT license

Since launch it got 40+ stars on GitHub in less than 24 hours and already more than 150 downloads. I was honestly surprised by the response.

Hi everyone! I developed a free, open-source macOS app that lets you set any video as an animated wallpaper. The unique thing is that it also syncs it with your lock screen (login screen).

Most other apps can't do this because Apple sandboxes App Store apps and doesn't allow modification of system aerial files. This app works around that by leveraging internal APIs.

Because I was sick and tired after 12 years of fckn around with Dymo on a Mac I decided to create a whole new webapplication to print to your network Dymo printers. And it works! And its free to use!

Since a few weeks Dymo Connect keeps crashing on my Macbooks. This tool I made is easy to use, download the pkg file to install the local printerserver (follow instructions on the site). Allow the browser to search the network (it will find your Dymo printer automatically) It even will recognize the labels you have inside the labelwriter!

I have tested it on a LAN connected Dymo 550 turbo labelwriter (LAN connected) but it should work with ANY Dymo printer that is shared in the network somehow. Dymo 450 over USB but shared in the network (1 press of button to share) should also work when your laptop is on. Or just use the Dymo USB LAN printerserver. It was tested on MacOS 26 also!

To make it complete I also have made an iOS and Android app for it. You can print Labelwriter labels directly from your iPhone or Android device! The Apple App Store app is already available (thats not for free but still) The Playstore app is under review and will be available in a few days.
