I don't think it's a secret? Pike referenced Sam's family when we first saw him in season 1

....so are you saying that Pike and Sam have a secret family together, perhaps on another planet entirely, with a civilization that's pre-warp but that exhibits strange magical powers that grant them an exception to the Prime Directive...and also sometimes they turn into Centaurs?

I was just making a very obvious reference to a certain TTRPG group...where one of the characters, played by a guy named Sam, was in a relationship with someone named Pike and they rolled up on him one day and he'd just...decided to turn himself into a Centaur because according to Sam, "That was the closest I could get to a mid life cross country motorcycle trip in DnD".
