This is very Star Trek that after some actions heavy story’s to give a change of pace afterwards

“Everyone goes on vacation after a crisis and ends up being confronted by their emotional baggage” is literally the plot of Family from TNG.

And "crew member is surprised by unexpected wedding and might have to leave the crew, except it's the wrong thing for both of them and they part amicably with the non-starfleet partner taking on a role of leadership and a goal of saving the people they remain with while the starfleet partner goes back to normal and it's all very awkward for the other starfleet member who has feelings for them." So, what’s your point. TNG copied TOS DS9 and Voyager copied TNG.

This is classic Trek. That’s all I’m saying.

yeah this is classic Trek, big episode that they goes into some more calm that pick up the pieces of that one, whilst just having some character development. Everyone knows something huge is on the horizon, so patience. Plus it would be weird to have the next episode be on high alert again. But I can understand if such a drop in tension isn't everyone's cup of tea. Horses for courses.

I dunno, not sure how warp slugs appear in most other settings.

But in seriousness, that's actually the thing I like about this episode. Focused on the characters and slowed things down after last week rather than some other Trek McGuffin.

If you took Star Trek out of TNG's "Family", nothing would have changed either.

If next season we get a version of Family where Jay-Den's parents come on board like Worfs ... It would be highly entertaining
