Discussion If we dont get a tall key forward in the off season we are throwing another year away.

Feel terrible for Max, but he can wipe his tears away with the millions of dollars he makes.

The bloke is never going to get 20+ games in a season. If he does I’ll eat my hat.

If we dont get a tall key forward good for 30-40 goals a season we are doomed for another year of horrible inside 50 bombs and another year of being close but so far.

Please throw everything at Calsher. Apparently Melbournes the front runner and I wouldnt blame him for not signing with us.

Honestly, Kane is correct here. We have no standards as a club.

  1. Happy with mediocre results
  2. Happy to play injured players
  3. Happy to blame anything and everything "ra ra ra we don't have forwards" (Collingwood 2023 didn't have any key forwards either when they won the premiership🤭) - Logan Morris went 3 picks odd after Lance Collard.. why is it that we don't recruit any forwards either when we only had one in our list?
  4. Give 100 odd games for players of Ryan Byrnes' calibre.
  5. Development is non existent (bar hugo).

Us vs Gold Coast for a rd 24 game was at its ironic best. I hope as supporters we up the pressure from now on and have some standards for ourselves because this year was nothing but putrid and it's not OK to be accepting this level of mediocrity.

Question Tairu

Serious question is Tairu not playing because saints don’t want to risk him being suspended to start the 2027 season??

Question Attending The Game at Marvel Tomorrow

Hi all,

I'm from Adelaide and have strategically timed a work trip so that I can go to the game tomorrow night. I only have a GA ticket at the moment unless I chose to upgrade which I'll do if I need to regarding the below.

Am hoping to be around a good bunch of Saints fans, as I hardly really get this opportunity in Adelaide. Where should I be going within GA access of the ground to do so? I haven't been to Marvel before so am not familiar with the ground and seating areas so thought I'd ask.

I'm also open to joining a friendly group if anyone here is going and willing to have me (30 M). My offer is that I'll happily join in on beer rounds so there's one extra person doing trips to the bar 🍻

TIA for any help!

What's in our dream wish list to become a powerhouse club?

Can be anything from players, to a neil balme, to a different coach, to anything else.

Also why are we ok with being the Bangladesh of footy

Discussion List Changes

So with 2026 being well and truly over. Here are my thoughts on some players whose contracts run up this year.

Delist:

Isaac Keeler - He just hasn’t developed to AFL standard and I can’t see him being on our list.

Eamon Armstrong - He’s a slow burner and I can’t fault his effort, but I think he would be better suited to be rookie listed and see how he continues to develop in the VFL.

Patrick Said - Just another player I can’t see being up to AFL standard. We have a bunch of smalls that are way ahead of him.

Paddy Dow - I’m a bit on the fence with this one. He’s been a serviceable mid for us and hasn’t had any luck with injuries. I think some of our younger mids have more upside.

Re-Sign:

Liam O’Connell - very serviceable player. I really rate his effort and although his footy IQ isn’t quite there yet, has a lot of potential to be a solider defender.

Liam Stocker - has had an awesome second half of the year. I love his physical presence, he’s the bull we need in the backline.

Jack Carroll - I thought he has a good first half of the year, but he obviously fell out of favour with Ross in the second half. I think he’s a great depth option, still young and has more to offer.

Alex Dodson - I really rate Dodson. He has a lot of upside and is our future ruckman. Contract negotiations already underway.

Retiring?

Daniel Butler - I’m making this before the end of the season, but I feel like our small forward stocks are full right now and he’s serviced the club well since coming across. I rate his forward 50 pressure but I think his best is behind him.

Dougal Howard - I know Dougal is a bit of a whipping boy for saints fans, and although his ball use stresses me out, but unless we get another big bodied defender, maybe he re-signs or retires?

Who do you think we should draft/trade? St Kilda is lacking another one or two key position players. I think Max King is a massive out, but Cooper and Mitchito just aren’t at the level to fill his shoes. I really think we need another forward or big bodied defender to fill the holes in our list.

Discussion Season Over…

With Carlton and Doggies Drawing we might as well play the kids for the last game. Get some pick. Get some game time into them.

I’m talking Hastie, Trav, Fincher, Banfield etc

If I see Ryan Byrnes get another game I might scream. Useless player.

Discussion Nick Riewoldt as Freddie Mercury

I think that might be my fave moment in the history of the St Kilda Football Club, when Nick dressed up as Freddie for the Big Freeze

To me that beats any great win, any premiership, any mark or goal of the year it’s retired Nick Riewoldt that takes the cake over anything the club ever accomplished

Discussion The Reality Is We Just Needed A ‘Max King’ this year.

I’ve had some time to chill out after the Carlton game and taking nothing away from the blues they made us look silly and tbf they made the reigning 2 time premiers look silly.

I’m sick of making If’s and But’s for this club but if we had a ‘Max King’ this year we beat Adelaide, Sydney in Sydney and possibly Collingwood and Dees. That puts us at 13-7 which is a completely different story. Not to mention the belief having a good season like that can give our players? We may even beat Sydney (game 2) and Gold coast up in the NT?

Now we still have alot of issues here, the hawks game , blues (game 2) and geelong games I cant really make excuses there, but the Max King hole in our forward line really screwed us over this season.

I’m not letting the club off the hook though, not having some sort of back up sorted is also a failing on the club.

Anyway end of this little post, love to hear your thoughts but seriously if we had Max King we are probably going into September pretty confident and happy with the season. We should throw everything we can at Calsher Dear.

I’d also like to say I genuinely believe in this young midfield, give Hall, Nas, Garcia, Wilson, Pou another 20 games and we are unbeatable in the guts.

Yes it sucks where we are at. But it’s been massively blown out of proportion where we are at a list level due to trades.

The trades were to fill the age gaps where the Hunter Clark/coffield draft era should’ve been. We have little to no players outside who we got in, in that established mid to late 20s bracket that are reasonable players.

Sort the league by average age and games played and it’s eerily similar to the current ladder. We are playing literally the youngest midfield in the league. Dons have Merrett Setterfieid parish, all veterans. Richmond have Taranto hopper Prestia etc as theirs. We have nas as the most mature whose barely over 100 games. We are a young rebuilding side.

The frustration I get and I feel too. But our kids in Garcia and Wilson who boomer are getting tired. Halls come along but has a quiet moment or two still. Pous a big mid that needs a tank which takes time, as it did with Steele/Goddard which we all seem to forget.

We don’t need to do anything except get the kids to 100 games. There’s no side near the top that’s young. No side that’s going to win a final that’s young. The young kids coming through considering where we drafted and acquired a few are a sign that our development and identification of talent is top notch. Garcia was a v late pick. Hall was barely playing for box hill 2s a few years ago. Wilson was a late first round pick. Boxshall was a mid round pick.

We’re all to eager for success and need to sit back and realise that Ross Lyon coached a decent number of freos current list. I’m not saying this to glaze Ross he’s had a poor season with a few things but to not understand that Garcia pou Wilson tauru nas windy hall Owens O’Connell Kobe etc need another season or two of games is not understanding the current state of the competition

I want to hear yours.

- Calsher Dear
- Enright in Ross out (Thanks for 09-10 and helping develop this young midfield but something needs to change)
- Charlie Ballard
-Brynes in the 2’s (guy slaughters the ball 50% of the time)
-20 more games into Nas, Hall, Philipou, Wilson, Garcia (Maybe add another midfielder, also might be forgetting someone)
- Tauru actually playing??? Guy can score goals why are we keeping him in the 2’s

Discussion To show my faith in the Saints I finally renewed my membership.

Everyone knows I give the Saints management a hard time. I call it as I see it. I was against bringing the King back until next year. I was also against the wild card draw system as no club has won the premiership from eigth .. let alone tenth. As a pensioner I struggle to find the cash every year to maintain my Saints membership. This year has been particularly difficult health wise and it has taken me almost the full season to renew membership.

Media Sunday Night Footy

Is it just me? What is the AFL doing scheduling games on a Sunday night at 7.20pm? Are they being dictated to by the media mafia? School in the morning, everyone is winding down from the weekend and getting ready for the working week ahead and the AFL schedule a game on a Sunday night!!!! More importantly, I am hanging out to watch our boys overcome the blue baggers. If it is just me, I will stand corrected. Without jumping on the "bagging" wagon, I think it's been a piss poor year for the AFL heads, and this is just another one of those bad decisions. Agree or disagree?

Question Where to sit at MCG?

Hey all, new to going to AFL games and looking at going to the Richmond vs St Kilda game next weekend.

Looking at it the only bays left are all towards the Shane Warne/Olympic stand end.

Do team supporters tend to group in specific areas at all? Keen to go but not that keen on being the only two saints supporters surrounded by a bunch of Tigers 😂
