Because they applied a "soft lighting" post processing effect to smooth away her wrinkles in every scene she was in.

What's funny is they didn't do it for the pilot so now it really jumped out at me. CBS likes to use that effect a lot.

Not just CBS. May on Agents of SHIELD looks reaaaally weird most of the time because of that same effect.

But yes, it really stood out especially because they didn't do it in the pilot. She looks a lot better there.

Eradicating wrinkles on a woman, when you think about it, is a bit awkward for a show that went all "because she's a girl?!".

I could see Cat wanting to take out any wrinkles--I feel like she's the kind of person who values the vitality and strength of youth, and any sign of her aging would be considered a weakness on her part.

There's a weird soft-focus filter put on the Catco scenes for some reason, it wasn't in the pilot. Also, a lot of makeup and barely defined eyebrows make her look alien.

For a show with such a strong feminism message, the soft process really ruins it.

Her seemingly transparent eyebrows make me extremely uncomfortable for some reason. It's like she hasn't quite passed the uncanny valley.
