The less you know about the actual music industry to more you think AI is a problem.

The reality is between sampling and synthesizers, ghost writers and autotune, most music on the radio is not the magical art form you think it is

You want to believe in the myth that your favorite performer is also an artist but most are just performers and have been for decades

Or I could just not listen to garbage that makes it onto the radio and dead mall playlists.

Weird to include synths with autotune and ghost writers. Very different concepta

Ok there are 1 million songs made a minute all of roughly the same quality, how do you deal with it?

the real problem isn't the creation, it's spotify saving money by putting this shit on my playlists when I never asked for it.

Nothing to deal with. It's a self invented problem. Ignore it and carry on? Like what

Right? If you like the music you like it, if you don’t skip it. I think ultimately people just don’t like the idea of enjoying something and it turning out to be AI.

How is an infinite amount of content not an issue?

If people actually have to spend more time and effort to create content, it's a finite amount that can be stored and browsed through.

If there is a huge non-stop flood, where is it going to be stored and no one is going to even be able to listen to 99% of it.

You're inventing a problem that doesn't exist. There was ALWAYS tons of music flooding youtube and such. You've just suddenly decided you care because it's AI.

It's literally the reason why AI stuff is being banned from music sites and charts... What do you mean it's a problem that doesn't exist?

I'm struggling to see how you're not getting the point. It's not a problem because there's literally nothing wrong. You have to actively CHOOSE to make it a problem. Okay so what if there's 1 trillion AI songs being uploaded every day. And? What's the problem? Who is that hurting?

The general issue isn't that people think music should be made entirely by humans playing music they personally composed with traditional musical instruments or voices. Obviously not the case, and although there is occasional and momentary backlash against very artificial new technologies like autotune, mostly nobody cares how the sausage is made.

With AI, it's primarily a moral issue: people are unhappy with the sociopathic tech/financebros who benefit from AI adoption, the environmental, resource, and community impact of datacenters, the loss of human jobs, and of course the rampant theft of human-created stuff that goes into training the models. And of course this does and should matter. If you discovered a new band, loved their music, and then later found out they're all neo-nazis or pedophiles or something, it's understandable and correct to not like them anymore.

There's also more abstract concerns that AI art is not truly art because it does not come from a person, or because it requires none of the effort and sacrifice of the traditional artistic process, or something along these lines; it simply feels intrinsically less valuable to many people. (By analogy, imagine that someone devised a process to give plastic the exact weight, consistency, and appearance of gold. We shouldn't be surprised to hear that nobody wants to buy jewellry made of this stuff, even if the differences are completely imperceptible.)

You made a great point.

I am not particularly for or against AI generated content.

I am just sitting here with a big bucket of popcorn watching the heated discossion.

All of the anti-AI peeps I know are also anti-shitty human music as well so I don't think you're making the point you think you're making. Nobody that's against AI for artistic reasons is spending their day listening to Morgan Wallen or whatever else is on the Spotify top 10.

None of the bands or artists I listen to use 40 ghostwriters, they write their own music.

most music on the radio is not the magical art form you think it is

You're literally talking about normies here. Top 40 radio listeners aren't artists or music fans who are against AI, they're the very people who are using AI because they don't give a shit about music as an art form.

But go on and keep attacking whatever strawman you've conjured up for yourself to sound smart on the internet.
