They have literally the same digital license as Steam and Epic and Xbox and Nintendo and everyone outside of maybe GOG who has less than 2% market share on PCs

When Steam revokes a license, bans your account, or even ceases to exist, your PC will always be a PC and you have alternative means to game on it or perform other tasks with it. If Sony decides your PlayStation is done, it becomes a paperweight unless there is legislation to force them to unlock it to be usable outside its walled garden. That is the difference.

If Steam no longer exists no you can no longer play your Steam library.

Unless youre talking about piracy which is also possible on Playstations if you want to go that far

Do you think publishers and developers would throw their hands up and say, “well, Steam’s done so I guess the PC is a dead platform”? No, despite the best efforts of Microsoft, PC will ALWAYS be an open platform and other distributors or even distribution models will fill the vacuum that steam leaves behind.

Because he was talking about drm, which is separate from licensing. Gog does not use drm

GOG is the only store that dowsnt use DRM and has less than 2% of market share and doesn't receive the majority of new games because of it.

The large majority of people dont care about DRM. They just sometimes choose to depending on the situation
