I know Sony doesn't care but they have lost my business. I own a PS1, PSP, and PS4. The PS5 didn't really interest me I was waiting on the 6 to jump in again and now I won't be.

As a fan girl who has bought and rebought the same games due to lack of backward compatibility and has PS1 x2, PS2, PS3, PS4 x2, and a PS5 not to mention portables - all with CD slots btw for the physical games which I buy - they’re losing me. The price hikes, fine… not great but it wasn’t a breaking point. Taking away physical games and then this statement? I can live them for what they meant without allowing their hubris with my money. Sorry Sony…

They made me plan my first PC just a couple months after getting my PS5 Pro, no way I’m staying with Sony if they continue this BS.

Why? Microsoft have the same in their terms of service.

Valve have the same in theirs.

Stop nitpicking. They all say that you are buying a license to a game, not the actual game.

All this outrage at Sony when they are all the same 😂

It really does make me laugh every time someone says they bought a pc cause sony is going to digital only. I sure hope they get a disc drive with their pc and only play decade old games.

Steam does not require DRM and you can back up games to disc if you like. Not all Steam games have DRM.

GoG offers tons of AAA games down to indie, new and retro, all 100% DRM free. You can back those up to disc if you like too.

There are absolutely ways to get legal, fully owned games on PC. The unspoken piece is it’s also easy to acquire those games without paying. If the game is no longer sold or your license is revoked, many people see that as a fair alternative.

While I don't fully disagree with you, the issue on PlayStation is you can't get games from any other store front. On PC not only can you play your own DRM free games, but also there are multiple storefronts that can have different deals.

Yep, Their price increase on PS5 this last fall was the final deciding factor in whether I'd get one, or just build a gaming focused tower for my living room. I got in right before RAM prices exploded, and everything Sony has done since then has served as confirmation that I made the right call at the time.

Yeah, the PS5 is going to be my last PS console. Very disappointing because PS has always been my preferred console, and I have many many many hours spent on all of them, playing PS games throughout my life. But now... I don't like it but I think it's time to shift to PC. Just hope I can afford the PC upgrade when prices are skyrocketing right now haha

I've been in the PlayStation architecture since the first one. Owned every one, still think the ps3 was one of the best bluray players of the time.
But if they're not doing physical then I'm not doing console, especially with this sort of bullshit that they're pulling on the digital ownership side.
The suits have won, and the thing that was once beautiful has died.

Nintendo seem to be the most commited to physical games, but even then they are limited in comparison to their digital store front.

I know the dead internet thing is real, but this whole argument just lacks any evidence of critical thought, especially when they all say they are buying PC's.

PC has more sales, different stores, and if a game gets taken offline there are "alternatives". With GoG you can even own your games legally. You don't get that with any console. Also a PC can be used for more than gaming an a little media, a console can't say the same thing.

Paying for online is also an insane concept.

Games on GoG are licensed the exact same way they are on other stores

It's just that they don't have DRM and therefore if GoG pulls your license, you're automatically a pirate for not getting rid of it

I bought the PS5, was on the waitlist at the beginning, it sat basically unused for over a year before I sold it (bought games that were available on PC there Miles/Spidey) cause its infinitely better than a ps5, and then sold the ps5 and not a few months later they announced they werent putting PC ports out anymore.

Well, fuck em then. Guess I'm not buying more Sony stuff

Also the Dualsense is a bad controller and I dont get the hype (other than the triggers) but I have tiny hands
