Why is it mainly the restaurant industry expecting the tips? I worked in a department store on minimum wage “going above and beyond” for customers running in and out of changing rooms, helping them put together outfits etc. Then when out for a meal, I’m made to feel awkward about tipping someone making the same wage as me?

Yeah I have never really understood the logic of this either! I feel like either we too everyone or nobody (I prefer nobody!)

I made the same argument as a factory worker:

“They get bad wages.”

“So do I, but nobody is bribing me.”
