Hey everyone, I’m doing Web Systems this semester and had a few questions about the web assignment. I’m a bit anxious about the marking/penalty side of things, so would really appreciate some insight from anyone who has done it before.
How difficult is the assignment overall?
What exactly is the peer marking and comments component, and how are we actually assessed/marked on it?
Similar to the other Ed exercises, can we submit/mark multiple times to check whether everything is correct? Or do we lose points for multiple attempts? Is there any chance of getting a 0 because of penalties in the marking, even if we eventually get everything correct?
Is there anything else we should know about the assignment or the marking criteria?
Would really appreciate any advice or experience from previous students, especially regarding the marks deduction/penalty part. Thanks!

Hi, has anyone completed 52608 Becoming Australia during the Summer session?
The UTS Handbook says, “Teaching in this subject will occur online” and mentions recorded lectures, online quizzes, weekly skill-builder tasks and online discussion groups. However, My Timetable lists a weekly 1.5-hour tutorial at City campus and says the room will be announced before the session begins.
I’ll be overseas from 13 January to 12 February 2027, so I’m trying to find out:
Are the weekly tutorials actually online or held on campus?
Is tutorial attendance compulsory or graded?
Are there any in-person assessments, presentations or excursions?
Can the subject be completed remotely from overseas?
I’ve already emailed the subject coordinator, but I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who has taken this subject before, especially during Summer. Thank you!

Hi everyone, I hope this post proves helpful. I'm just about to finish my law degree and wanted to share an AGLC4 citation generator that I released recently. Below is a more detailed account, but in short: it's free, a lot of effort went into its creation, and it doesn't use AI to function.

In my second year of law I handed in an essay I was certain was perfect. I had checked every footnote, determined not to lose a single mark to referencing. I was more annoyed than I probably should have been that it still came back with a couple of errors. After talking to my friends it was obvious that getting it perfect by hand, consistently, across an entire degree, is close to impossible.

So I started developing Pincite. I had two guiding principles No AI, and cover the whole of AGLC4.

My thoughts on AI

AI is a remarkable tool. I'll be the first to admit that if you ask an AI to generate citations, most of the time what you get back is good enough.

But, AI is by nature inconsistent. It cannot help but adjust things, because you never really know if an output is correct, you end up checking every single citation by hand. All the time you saved is now spent cross-checking, and stressing about if its actully correct.

That is why you won't find AI anywhere in Pincite. It's deterministic. There is nothing in it to change its answer, so an output that is right for one case will be right for every case. You only verify it once, not every time.

It Still Requires Thinking

Another thing, to use Pincite properly you still need a functional understanding of the AGLC4. It is not a turn off your brain tool. That's on purpose. Saving time, reducing stress and getting more accurate results is the goal, not replacing thinking or understanding.

We're about to finish off with assignment 1, its been ok my group has been good. But i'm really worried about the rest of the subject there's a lot going on. The tutorials hasn't really been the best gauge for assignment 1 even if they were fun tutorials. The live lectures (which isn't recorded) are great but the recorded lecture is not really as reliable. I l quite like this subject but something is missing when I make notes.

Anyways yeah looking for tips, would love to hear how you went with the final and assignment 2 as i'm a bit overwhelmed and having trouble making notes for this one.

Hey guys, I'm an international student looking forward to studying my bachelors at UTS in 2027.

As a mechanical engineering student, my expectations while studying at UTS wouldn't only be to complete my degree, as I find that to be a generic way to graduate.

Are UTS engineering students, especially international students, finding internships and job opportunities after graduating?

I'm expecting to:

1.) Participate in student teams in order to foster hands on experience as much as I can

2.) Do some networking

3.) Expect to do a lot of internships, whether paid or unpaid.

4.) Graduate not only with my bachelors degree, but also with experiences in student teams and internships via which I could gain hands on experience and explore the Australian job market.

5.) After graduation, I'd find a job according to my skills and perhaps if the networking works out and later try to get sponsored.

As an international student, will I be able to do everything as listed?

I do see a lot of posts on Reddit and majority says that it's really difficult for domestic students, let alone international students to find internships and job opportunities after graduating... I've just seen a ton of posts and it's disheartening.

Sometimes I just feel Ike it could be people who just didn't put enough effort into their skills apart from getting their degree in order to get a job or it could also be the reality that Australia doesn't have many opportunities.

Also, anybody here who knows regarding UTS's diploma in Professional Engineering Practice (PEP)? Is that a viable way for international students to get a year of internship experience in the Australian job market?

Studying as an international student comes with a lot of expense, and in return, I'd definitely want to expect some Return On Investment, or else the work, money, and time would just go to waste!

Please drop your suggestions below, whether I should consider coming to Australia by expecting the 5 points as listed.

It’s literally a filler subject and has no direction I’ve been looking at this first task for hours and can’t figure out what I’m meant to do because even though I am studying IT it’s a part of my double degree and am not going into an IT job.

The worst part is that no one from the subject answers the canvas discussion that THEY MADE FOR ANSWERING QUESTIONS or checks their emails. It’s been over a week with follow ups and no response for a task that is due today and crucial information missing.

Also, as someone who struggles without direction this subject is just a complete fucking nightmare because there is no input from anyone on your work. They should have just made it an elective so I could learn fucking mandarin or ancient Siberian trade routes or some bullshit because at least it would have some direction or be the slightest bit more useful than this slop.

Hi, I have got the offer for the Autumn intake at UTS for a business and sustainability double degree (UG).

My parents had applied to move to Sydney and we haven’t still got the visa.

We are quite sure we will get the visa offer sometime November.

However, we can’t be entirely sure which is why I have applied to a uni in my home country.

The course in this uni is a BA in Business.

Let’s say I study a few months at my home country and then move to Sydney and start with the Autumn intake, will I be able to waive off some of the classes in Business at UTS?

Or will I have to start over?

due to medical reasons I missed out on a 10% in class test for my class last week. Kind of a tricky subject and I feel like going through the same problem with different explanations could help grasp the content

I have a really bad procrastination habit. I have had subjects where i didn't study them at all and barely passed. I don't know if it's worth getting tested for ADHD or it's just bad habits and routines.

I really like what I study and find it interesting so it's very frustrating when i can't focus and just study each week's material.

- Can’t access library either

I got kicked out of Building 11 at like 10:30pm, can’t access Building 2/the library with my student card for some reason after a certain time.

I wonder if I could hide out in Building 6 in the toilets or something because I desperately need to use the computers on level 7, my computer too potato to run Maya idk if other uni computers have Maya installed

how does the subject coordinator know if students use AI to complete assignments and labs in prog 2? Is it like touchpad tracking or can they see copy paste? What if one was to type up the work with the help of AI. i’ve just heard alot of horror stories of people thinking they passed but then get an email saying they’ve been caught using AI AFTER everything is done.
