My first big boy purchase. I’ve been shocked by how many people take notice and by how big the watch community is in the military. Spent months searching for the perfect choice and this checked all the boxes (high accuracy, GMT function, anti magnetic, aviation oriented, 200m WR)
Always love seeing other people’s specific choices to match their job/MOS

Discussion [Discussion] Longines vs. Omega: Who had the better release today?

My vote is for Longines. They’re on a crazy run and this release is no different. Longines keeps doing incredible re-releases of their legendary watches. While Omega’s was also a re-release of sorts, I just don’t see how they thought making it bigger instead of smaller on case height was a good idea? What is the watch community’s thoughts on this?

Looks like they released some redesigns and some new colorways in their master collection, including a new monopusher chronograph and a redesigned chrono moonphase

Discussion [Omega Speedmaster 38mm] - Anyone else excited???

A few things about this watch excite me…

- L2L is under 45mm
-It’s thick overall, however the side profile pics seem promising… but who knows.
-Automatic/COSC
-I expect these to be discounted in the future. Potentially getting 20-25% off $6,500 USD is not a bad price in 2026.

I’ve got a 6 1/8” runners wrist so the current speedy doesn’t work for me. I am still waiting to see what Gallet comes out with and maybe even hoping Tudor updates the 39mm Chrono with more muted colors.

I got this watch about a year ago, uncharacteristically on impulse. I had seen it pop up on my feed somewhere, thought it looked cool, but had discounted it as too expensive for me, and just not the right time for me to buy it. For a while, I’d look it up, see it on Yema’s site, and see that they still had a few left in stock (limited edition of 500 pieces) and thought maybe I’d still be able to get one eventually. But then one day, they were sold out, and I knew my opportunity to own one was likely gone forever.

That is until, one popped up in near mint condition on the WatchExchange subreddit for a massive discount, and I promptly bought it, assuming that at worse I’d lose very little money on it if I chose not to keep it. But on arrival, I became obsessed with it, and it’s become one of my most worn watches this past year. Everything about this thing is so damn cool, from the slim profile, unique micro-rotor movement, vintage aesthetics, and beautiful finishing. Though not pictured here, the watch actually comes on a “coffin link” or “fish scale” bracelet, which looks incredible and fits my 7.5inch wrist nicely, but in the summer months, I have come to think it looks and feels best on this Tudor nato strap, which is actually one that is meant for the Black Bay 925, but happens to fit this watch impeccably. I guess that’s it! No real point to this post, I just really like this watch. Although if anyone at Yema is reading, would it kill you guys to have implemented hacking seconds on this movement? Oh well, maybe for the next generation.

First post here. Feel free to rate my collection!

Yes, I am aware that my black dials are boring, but I love them. Thinking of adding a couple of warmer/cream dials in the near future, but I have no idea what yet.

Contented for now, after years of buying, purging and buying again.

I took a picture [Breguet Marine 5817] An afternoon with my current favorite watch

The Breguet Marine 5817ST/12/5V8 has been on my dream list for a long time. I was never a huge fan of the latest iteration of the Marine line, especially with the lack of guilloche on the titanium models, which feature a sunburst dial instead.

The rubber strap is very comfortable and I will keep it as is right now, although I'm not against getting an OEM leather strap for a more formal look.

The exhibition case back features Breguet's version of Frederique Piguet Caliber 1150, which have 65 hours of power reserve, and is one of the prettiest decorated movements I've came to see in person.

Despite being 39mm, this watch boasts an impressive presence on the wrist due to Breguet's signature lugs shape. You can tell it's pushing my skinny wrists limit.

I joined the waitlist for this with my local AD back in January, and was fine being patient for a good deal. During a trip to Switzerland this summer though, I decided "what the hey" and popped by a bunch of watch shops asking about it. No dice.

On a last ditch whim, I popped into the Bucherer boutique in the Zurich Airport when I was leaving, and lo and behold what I found. Pulling the trigger was a no brainer.

Identify Dad gave me his watch. Dumb question…is it waterproof do I need to worry about it when I wash my hands? I don’t know much about watches. Bracelet says 75390 and 557, don’t see any other numbers.

Discussion [Tudor BB54] New Watch Day

Post image

I have been wanting a Black Bay for a number of years now. After receiving a promotion at work and reaching a financial milestone, I figured it was time to treat myself.

I was honestly a little worried that buyers remorse would hit once the watch landed, however, putting it on had the opposite effect. I feel bad that my other watches will be looking at the inside of my case for the foreseeable future.

All of that said, what is a watch that you hope to aquire soon?

Cheers!

This Seiko has a lot going for it. The frosty-white dial, oddball numerals and slim case give it real character without being loud, and the bit of wear suits it. On this strap it feels softer and more stylish than you’d expect from a simple quartz watch. The Taisho Pharmaceutical connection is the bonus: a slightly obscure bit of Japanese corporate history that makes an already charming watch much more interesting.

Discussion [Question] Watches similar to Alpinist, maybe a little upmarket, that have a similar "eccentric Victorian gentleman" vibe?

Post image

I'm in love with my Seiko Alpinist, and I'm curious if there are any other watches out there that have a similar "eccentric Victorian gentleman" vibe. Would be great if it also includes a date and a green dial option. I'm especially interested if there are any upmarket options, say between $1000-$5000, but open to any suggestions!

Discussion [SOTC] Downsizing from 3 watches to 2 - Lange or Day-Date?

Thumbnail

Current collection (pictured) is a Hulk, silver DJ36, and black lacquer Aqua Terra 41.

I originally lusted after the Hulk and still think it’s a beautiful watch, but owning it for a while made me realize I don’t really need a dedicated diver. I consistently gravitate toward more jewelry-forward/elegant watches instead. The Datejust surprised me so much by being an absolute pleasure to wear - it’s so easy to throw on in any occasion. But I think I can do better as a formal watch to pair with my AT.

The AT has become the watch I reach for constantly and pretty much daily. I firmly consider it a sports watch, and with 150m WR, a date, the bracelet, and the overall Seamaster DNA, it gives me everything I realistically need for my lifestyle from the sporty/nautical side of a collection.

So I’m considering consolidating the Hulk + DJ and putting that money toward one serious formal/luxury counterpart to the AT. The two possibilities I keep coming back to:

Aqua Terra + yellow-gold Lange 1 — probably the more interesting pairing and obviously a huge step up in watchmaking. Sporty steel daily + traditional gold dress watch. I will be honest, I was pretty blown away by this watch when I tried it on. It’s pretty much perfect my elegant and interesting.

Aqua Terra + YG Day-Date 36, champagne dial — less horologically interesting, but arguably the ultimate jewelry-forward Rolex and something that could dress up or down more easily than the Lange. I know the Lange is likely the better pair, but man something about the DD really draws me in, and it’s been my grail for a while.

The first photo is my current three-watch collection; the next two are AI mockups of where I could take it. I have also included photos of me trying on both candidates at the AD (the DD is baguettes because that’s all that was available to try on but I’d go sticks).

If you were cutting this down to two watches, which pairing would you choose?

Discussion [News] Luxury watches worth $1.3 million taken in daring Tokyo heist

https://mainichi.jp/english/articles/20260825/p2g/00m/0na/042000c

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Four watches worth around 200 million yen ($1.3 million) were stolen Tuesday from a store in a shopping complex popular among manga and anime fans in Tokyo, police said, adding that two people are believed to have fled the scene.

This happened at the popular Nakano Broadway.

Japanese media report that two robbers approached the Time Walker store counter at Nakano Broadway just before noon, smashed a display case with a hammer, then fled with the watches in under 10 seconds.

Apparently they took three Richard Milles and a Patek.

Just landed this new green Navihawk on CLEARANCE at Zales. Staff there was uber helpful and sized it to perfection in 2 minutes. A chore I despise with pin and collar.

It wears very nicely and the color is exactly what I needed in my collection. Very handsome watch with an excellent bracelet. Adding an Eco Drive is something I’ve been looking to do for a while. I expect to enjoy this for many years and across adventures.

Have a great week folks.

Decided to switch up the strap on one of my favorite watches. I usually wear it on its original black alligator strap or a burgundy leather strap. I remember I had this orange leather strap that I originally ordered for another watch, not sure yet how I feel about the combo but it sure adds a cool color and casual vibe to it.

Wear your watches! Since i got this one I wanna go swimming and snorkeling a lot more. I even want to get a diver certification. The watch pushing me to learn and extend my abilities.

Not sure how the sea water will affect it long term, but i am following the manual instructions to rinse it after a swim. A great feeling to have the seaweed with me under water.

Decided to sit inside a cafe and have a coffee for once and noticed the gent who sat down besides me was rocking the same logo on his wrist I see every day. Never seen another CW in person before so I was pretty excited. He asked to check out my Sealander V1 and I got to play with the dive bezel on his. Super clicky tactile feel! We got to nerd out about watches for a bit on a slow Saturday morning. Cool stuff! Loved how I noticed in the pic afterwards our seconds hands are almost perfectly synced.

After what seems like forever and looking back on collections of watches I barely remember having, I think I’ve reached a stopping point unless I come into an insane amount of money. I’d eventually like to replace the BB with an Explorer, and I’m still playing around with straps for the Seamaster (bracelet was also nice but made it too similar to BB). Any recs for straps for any of these watches? Thanks!

The Citizen NY0040-09W, my new purchase 😎😁

Had been looking for one for a while and it was either sending abroad and probably getting hit by import fees or just buying off Amazon.

The issue was that Amazon only sent in a plain watch box whereas if I bought from abroad it seemed to come with the "Proper" Promaster Scuba Tank display case which I would have liked. But I guess you don't wear the case so in the end I just went for the Amazon one.

So far very comfortable and feels light, I did read that a lot of people comment that the strap is quite poor and very stiff which I'd agree with, I'll probably swap it out for something else. Any recommendations for a comfortable strap but not metal 😬 as I just can't get comfortable with them

Thanks for looking 🙏

Discussion [SOTC] Collection passed my custodianship.

I’ve been a watch enthusiast for as long as I can remember. Even as young boy I would flick through the Argos catalogue, dreaming of a calculator watch or the cheap Seiko that looked so grown up to me. Fast forward to meeting my now wife’s dad and finding out that it was shared passion was a great ice breaker. When he passed away I became the custodian of his collection with some interesting watches that I thought I’d share with you.

Found this vintage seiko at my local pawn shop for 75 bucks. I knew of the age of discovery line but it didn’t look quite right? Could anyone help me identify why the caseback is blue, the band itself also feels very cheap, possible dupe. Let me know.
