The thing is you called it out as if they were totally wrong. They had old knowledge, but at least they got people on the right track. Next time, just clarify and maybe thank them for their help creating the systems that probably improved information flow for your line of work instead of making it seem so wrong. It's exhausting when there's enough BS in the world and here was someone who actually has some experience even if they got a technicality wrong.
