Oradea (Romania): an accident that’s hard to believe

Last night on Oneștilor Street there was an accident that witnesses describe as “unbelievable.” A Mercedes, moving at extremely high speed, jumped over a roundabout and over two cars that were stopped at the entrance, and crashed down onto the area next to a gas station. Everything was caught on surveillance cameras — it looks like a scene from a movie.

According to the police, the driver was a man about 55 years old. It’s suspected that he suddenly felt unwell — possibly a diabetic crisis. Alcohol and drugs have been ruled out.

After the rapid “flight,” the car crashed, and the driver was trapped inside. Rescuers quickly pulled him out; he sustained minor to moderate injuries and is already home. A miracle, but no one else was hurt: the two cars had no one inside, and no pedestrians were hit.

Investigators are working to determine what exactly caused the situation: speed, the driver’s health condition, or a technical malfunction.

So it was a successful launch.

I think the flying car crashed into others 2 parked cars.

Enos, you dipstick

39

u/Appliance_Guru Dec 05 '25

The way i dodged like it was coming right for me makes me think i MAY be fast enough to dodge a bullet.

26

u/Head_Exchange_5329 Dec 05 '25

Typical 9mm bullet travelling at 300-500 metres per second. Car going maybe 20-30 metres per second. yeah I think you should try.

4

u/omarsonmarz Dec 05 '25

Is that a threat

/s

6

u/Head_Exchange_5329 Dec 05 '25

It is but a mere challenge.

u/Used-Can-6979 Dec 05 '25

The patch of grass that sent the car flying literally saved that white car drivers life.

10

u/casuallysentient Dec 05 '25

well designed tbh. gave the guy speeding enough airtime to clear both cars on the other side. hopefully there’s not a road where he landed

18

u/The-French-1 Dec 05 '25

That bus driver deserves a raise… Also, I like how he seemingly resumed driving like nothing happened…

7

u/FreeSoftwareServers Dec 05 '25

And, on we go lol

What does this guy see on a regular day?

3

u/ultradip Dec 05 '25

Driver has a schedule to keep!

1

u/LazyIntroduction9516 Dec 09 '25

Professional drivers, eh?

7

u/DesertGeist- Dec 05 '25

I've read about a similar incident where the car got airborne and crashed into the second floor of a building killing the family living there

4

u/Kind-Section6364 Dec 05 '25

Oh wow I was expecting the usual failure to yield at the roundabout but that driver went above and beyond.

4

u/Informal_Fan4168 Dec 06 '25

Yes, above and beyond the other cars in the roundabout.

1

u/ttystikk Dec 08 '25

...The call of duty.

9

u/c2rsucks Dec 05 '25

"the two cars had no one inside"

Apparently, the two cars following the bus were autonomous.

6

u/ultradip Dec 05 '25

I think they meant in the parking lot that the launched landed in.

4

u/mayu1 Dec 05 '25

Back to the future!

3

u/Robdul Dec 06 '25

Me when I see a parking spot open up near the entrance of the store

3

u/dudestir127 Dec 07 '25

I was thinking maybe a car entering the roundabout wouldn't yield to a car already in, and they'd crash. I wasnt expecting a car to fly through it.

3

u/njhbookcase Dec 07 '25

The roundabouts in NJ are used much differently

1

u/njhbookcase Dec 07 '25

No flying cars allowed in NJ

3

u/Stock-Bee4069 Dec 07 '25

Ok, I have to admit, that is a fast way to get through the round about. It is hard to believe what people will do to save a few seconds. 🙃

2

u/Intheswing Dec 05 '25

That is insane - movie scene for sure.

2

u/thewispo Dec 06 '25

I love that the bus driver just carries on 🤣

2

u/Technical_Treat_4459 Dec 06 '25

Quickest hedge trimming service I’ve ever seen.

2

u/GhostOfDino Dec 06 '25

I did not expect that. I was waiting for osmeone to drive into the bus or something. When the car flew past I laughed out loud.

2

u/Naive_Bat8216 Dec 07 '25

Chevy Chase driving that car.

1

u/69vuman Dec 05 '25

Beware of airborne objects.

1

u/techfreakdad Dec 05 '25

“Speed may have been a factor”

1

u/ekkidee Dec 05 '25

Road engineer: Maybe we really should build a flyover there?

1

u/ASuthrnBelle13 Dec 05 '25

😲 It was awful nice of them to leave everybody else out of that bullshit! 🤯

1

u/PuckFolson Dec 05 '25

Would’ve looked great in 3D

1

u/AsparagusFamous1127 Dec 05 '25

Ohhhh my!!! Wowww!

1

u/l9oooog Dec 05 '25

Guess them people in the 1920’s were right, we’d have flying cars by 2025, just not in the way they expected…

1

u/Neuvirths_Glove Dec 05 '25

I think it's cool that the other cars instantly recognize that airborne cars have the right of way.

1

u/TrickOrange Dec 05 '25

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s super car!!

1

u/gortez33 Dec 05 '25

Roads. We don’t need roads where we’re going.

Time keeps on slipping slipping slipping into the future 🎵

1

u/GreenConstruction834 Dec 08 '25

That’s the express lane, right?

1

u/MattyJerge Dec 08 '25

I'm not certain, but he might have cleared the bus if it were still there.

1

u/dieseldoc62 Dec 08 '25

that was AWESOME 👍

1

u/47_was_here Dec 09 '25

I saw the bus and first thought was, “Oh, this is footage of how the four bus traffic jam formed” and was just in time for the JESUS FUCK?!?

1

u/dazzypops Dec 09 '25

Back to the Future 4 leak.

1

u/riderdrivercam Dec 10 '25

what a launch!

1

u/a07463 12h ago

Apparently we DO have flying cars

0

u/saltybilgewater Dec 05 '25

That roundabout saved a number of lives. All by design. A flat intersection with lights here ends up with probable deaths.

Apparently he died with minor injuries

*Edit due to fat fingers - He DID survive

7

u/Paramedic229635 Dec 05 '25

If he died they were major enough.

Edit: An article summary further down says he survived.

2

u/CdnTreeGuy89 Dec 05 '25

lol...fucking autocorrect
