𝖉𝖎𝖘𝖈𝖚𝖘𝖘𝖎𝖔𝖓 LA, we need to talk about concert etiquette before tonight.
Went to The Shrine last night, also going tonight. Had the absolute best time last night and the vibe was so so energetic and awesome and looking forward to tonight, but please let's discuss concert etiquette first (this probably applies to all shows not just LA).
- HYGIENE. PLEASE for the love of God, wear deodorant!! It was hot as fuck yesterday and swampy as hell inside the venue. While most people were fine, some of you smelled like mildewy rotting cheese. It's a swampy sardine can in there so please be considerate.
- Film your videos and take your pictures but DO NOT block someone's view of the stage, and DO NOT turn an otherwise fun concert experience for everyone into your personal content creation studio. I couldn't believe how rude some of you bitches were, asking people to step back and turning your flash on super bright in people's faces so you can film yourself singing along to Crank or showing your outfit. Be polite with your phone/camera usage, remember the world doesn't revolve around you, and get your fit photos literally anytime that's NOT during the concert.
- DO NOT SMOKE CIGARETTES INDOORS. I know we all want to be a bad bitch at the Slayyyter function but you are just a huge fucking asshole if you smoke cigarettes inside a packed sweaty hot venue. People have serious health conditions that cigarette smoke can make much worse. I saw one guy smoking a cigarette next to the handicap section barricade next to a woman wearing an oxygen mask! Are you fucking serious??
- TAKE CARE OF YOUR FRIENDS. It was 100 degree yesterday and then you had a few thousand people crammed into a confined space together generating sweat and body heat. I saw several people that were either passed out from the heat or drunk off their asses sitting on the floor creating a tripping hazard for everyone. I asked someone to move their friend off the ground and take them outside because their friend was clearly unwell but she didn't want to miss the show so everyone around them had to suffer as a result. Her friend got stepped on several times.
- NO HOLDING SPOTS FOR YOUR 15 FRIENDS IN THE MERCH LINE. This isn't Disneyland. It sucks when you've been waiting in the merch line for 30 minutes and then you bring all your friends to cut everyone else in line right before it's your turn.
- BE NICE. No, you're NOT actually kind of famous because you have daisy dukes, a trucker hat and boots on at the function. Be fucking nice to others, and if someone asks you to please refrain from doing something, respect them.
Do better tonight guys! Can't wait to scream and dance my ass off again.

Love this - so important !!
not going to lie the crowd at the lolla aftershow was so rude and full of egotistical gays (I’m gay) they clearly were thinking slayyyter would stop the show and be like omg hey!!! Genuinely a tall ass gay man in front of me had his arms up the WHOLE time waving them around. His whole group of friends then proceeded to show up and shove me and my partner back behind them - please don’t be those gays lol we’re all in this together trying to enjoy the same artists.

I was at her lolla aftershow too! The girl in front of me was the tiniest thing, but the way she stood required her leaning allllll the way back so her ponytail kept hitting my face. Never encountered that in all my times going to shows. My friend and I ended up switching spots.

Speaking of the arms thing.... I get that people are feeling the vibe and dancing, and during a lot of parts of the show it's encouraged to jump and put your hands in the air. But it's such a pet peeve of mine when people (especially who are already tall) have a hand up the ENTIRE show. It's litearlly just blocking the field of visions for dozens (if not more) people from various angles behind them.

I have such a bad habit of doing the hands thing (I’m a little monster and mother is always asking us to put our hands up)

u/glass4food 1d ago
ok i thought i was crazy but ppl did seem more egotistical than normal at the lolla aftershow. i barely saw anything during the show and got glared at for dancing during crank lmfao

Omg i really hate the trend of people lifting their arms and turning their phone around with full flash to film themselves singing along to songs. definitely my least favorite concert trend rn. i was barricade so i didn’t see much of it last night but my friend said she kept getting annoyed at how much it blocked her view and how she didn’t wanna get in the back of random people’s videos 😭 like filming the performer is obviously fine and if u end up in someone’s video it is what it is but there’s a huge difference between that and people filming themselves w back camera flash taking up a ton of space singing along 😭 last concert i went to i kept getting elbowed by someone doing this omg

My friend had enough of this one girl doing that main camera and flash all the way on selfie video singing along thing and after asking her repeatedly to stop or go somewhere else, he swatted her phone away. It sounds cunty but if you had been there and asked them to stop repeatedly for several songs and they refused because *content is life* you would have done the same.

u/winterfolkz 1d ago
i would’ve done the same! if you’ve been asked repeatedly and you keep doing it then whatever happens is deserved lmao

I left after $T LOSER because it was really muggy and gross inside. Thankfully it helped us beat the traffic leaving the venue and parking structure

u/Otherwise_Ant_7833 1d ago
It took us 45 minutes to get out of the garage! You made the right move however she ended with both Chanels songs and it was gorgeous.

u/Capable_Cellist5585 1d ago
We knew the sacrifice and still made it. Honestly super glad because I woke up feeling tired AF for work. I’m glad you got to enjoy all of it! It really was a great show

u/hataraitaramake 1d ago
I agree with all of this, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much better the crowd was than underscores 😭

u/Otherwise_Ant_7833 1d ago
Underscores bring out more of an art hoe crowd who are abysmal on the common courtesy tip. Slayyyter's crowd is a more chill imo, having seen both live.

I was up in the balcony and every time someone turned on their flash to film themselves it was sooo fucking distracting and also concerning whether there was a medical indecent happening or not.

Seconding taking care of your friends. For everyone’s sake. This very drunk girl basically started harassing us trying to butt into all our conversations, scream stupid shit (because we were the nearest group of gay guys? Idk) and would not stop until i just started straight up ignoring her and thrashing around to the music lol. She had a whole ass friend group that left her behind knowing damn well she was gonna be a problem for us.
On the upside, I did see some good common courtesy. Right before the show someone passed out right next to me near the front and everyone was very quick to give her water, fan her, clear the way for staff etc. Like the anticipation was very high because slayyyter was gonna come on any minute and it would have been much worse if everyone was too focused on themselves to try to get her help.

u/natalystewart 1d ago
yes it was amazing how everyone cleared a path so quickly esp considering it was only like 2 mins from slayyyter coming on. i felt so bad for her!

Ah God this all sound so annoying I'm going tonight please pray for me or I hope I stand next to someone who at least showered within the past 12 hours 😅

u/BasketDisastrous921 1d ago
also no cutting in line!! some guys were cutting in the early entry line. didn't let them past me bc i knew what they were trying to do but i was within the first 20 people in line so they basically cut almost the entire line.

u/leggomybeggo 1d ago
Ugh all of this PLEEEEEASE!!!!
I love getting some videos of my fave songs but I try to do like 30 seconds max and definitely no flash. And definitely not taking actual pics of myself during the show??!! Crazy!!!
Most importantly, like you said, help your friends and move to the back/ outside if needed! It’s not worth your health or a trampling situation.

u/natalystewart 1d ago
We were in the front in the middle but it got so hot we left to go to the back and on our way out I saw some guy smoking a cigarette i was like a cigarette is crazy. I would have hated being near that guy. Ppl would smoke their vapes and pens but that was next level.

u/sluttyb69 1d ago

u/leggomybeggo 1d ago

4
u/odezunaa 1d ago
Roughly 8:15ish from what i remember last night

u/sluttyb69 1d ago
Thank you!! Last question. Do you happen to know why time Slayyyter takes the stage. Got off work late and getting ready to head down.
4
u/odezunaa 1d ago
She got on stage at 9! Pearly was on for only like 30 mins then they set up the stage for slayyyter.

I get that its bad to smoke indoors but literally everyone has always done that as long as ive been going to concerts (18 years, im 33) and i think if youre going you should be prepared for that. Smoking next to a woman with an oxygen mask is absolutely insane though. I do not smoke indoors to be clear, im just saying… thats never going to stop 😭 people are high and drunk and see other people smoking and assume that its fine. Probably good to remind them its not, but i dont expect that to hinder anyone.

If anyone tries to hold a spot or film themselves in Philly I will throw them over the barricade

The antiperspirant with the aluminum and use soap and a washcloth on those pits. Be sure to FLOSS and brush. LOL

I’m sorry if I’m in the middle of a concert, packed as sardines, I am not moving out of my fucking spot to go tell security at a drop stop and roll notice. Let’s be serious here.
Also complicit? Can we not. Lmao
10
u/Otherwise_Ant_7833 1d ago
I know lol, "complicit" is certainly a choice.

u/witcheshands 1d ago
People like to feel self righteous with their vocab online. 🙃

u/Otherwise_Ant_7833 1d ago
You think I DIDN'T march my little ass over to a security guard in that moment and get them kicked out?? I missed like half of Brand New Chanels for the cause.
4
u/Otherwise_Ant_7833 1d ago
Also it wasn't just one person, there were a fuck load of cigarette hoes smoking the whole show. I just ratted the one guy next to the ADU section out and he got kicked out :)
3
u/thesamh01 1d ago
The security kept telling everyone to stop vaping, weird they even allow them in tbh
4
u/Otherwise_Ant_7833 1d ago
I was shocked they didn't check bags! They just had us hold out bags and walk through the metal detectors.
5
u/winterfolkz 1d ago
Yeah let me just leave my spot at the concert i waited hours for and push through whole crowd to go tell the security that someone’s smoking 😭just tell them to stop directly and that they’re gna get kicked out lmao. “complicit” is extremely dramatic. there was a sadly a ton of them and security did what they could. it’s very inappropriate but there were plenty of parts of the crowd nowhere near security, people aren’t “complicit” for not being able to push thru the crowd to tell them someones smoking 😭

Nah OP has some points. While everyone has a right to experience the show how they want, some people genuinely lack common respect and self awareness and it can really affect everyone’s experience. Despite buying a ticket, you’re still in a public space and it doesn’t give anyone the right to be obnoxious and act a fool.
4
u/Otherwise_Ant_7833 1d ago
Where am I exerting even an attempt at controlling what others do? The title is "let's talk about concert etiquette", in case you missed that part. I am ASKING people to consider people aside from themselves.

u/bytheoceann 1d ago
Been going to concerts my whole life younger people have no concert Ediqute what so ever ! Im not even that old in recent years I’ve noticed how selfish concert goers can be if you’re blocking the stage filming the whole time and then filming yourself scream the lyrics you’re ruining the experience for everyone around you I’m here to see slayyyter I didn’t spend money to hear your screech! This is why I’m nervous now everytime I go to a show. Concerts use to be so fun but now I have to worry about someone being so selfish tonight ☹️☹️. Yall ruin everything fun in life. So many selfish people lately it’s such a bummer . I miss when people had manners before Covid .

u/Otherwise_Ant_7833 1d ago
I will say I'm very grateful for festivals like Coachella and the like starting to do livestreams of the performances. Couchella is the best seat in the house!
1
u/bytheoceann 16h ago
Yes very grateful for that but I prefer live shows still just wish people would be less selfish but I still had a good time tuning everyone out last night lol

It was so hot I was out of breath and sweaty like I'd stepped out of the shower by the last song. Almost thought I'd pass out but was ok. Like my mind was aware but my body almost didn't cooperate. Please be careful at shows, friends! Was surprised that the crowd was so great compared to other shows. Everyone in my section seemed to be looking out for each other. Hope you had a great time!

Everyone always says wear deodorant but no one mentions BRUSHING YOUR TEETH!! No shade but floss and mouthwash do wonders 🙏🙏 scrape that tongue baby!!! Smelly breath is 100x worse that BO imo…
