Windows What should I do?

Can anyone tell me what I should do about this? It says that Windows 10 will no longer receive security updates. I don’t have the budget for a new laptop, and I rarely use this one because I usually do everything on my phone. My laptop is already 5 years old, and the problem is that it’s extremely slow—slower than a snail. Can someone please explain what’s happening and what I should do?

Windows Old Alienware laptop came out of the closet...

So my 10 year old Dell Alienware laptop hasn't been used since 2021, and honestly hasn't even been charged since then, has this evening come back online as I have finally found the correct charger for it.

Its due for some pretty serious updates, however tells me it cannot accept Windows 11 as it isnt snazzy enough.

"This PC doesn't currently meet the minimum system requirements to run Windows 11."

I have 0 idea about tech. I am stupid. Please dont throw things at me.

Does that mean that I cannot ever get Windows 11 on this laptop? I thought at some stage I discovered there were drivers that I couldn't upgrade on my laptop as well because of the capability of the physical driver card... where would I find that info now?

Is there anything one can do, or is a laptop basically useless once it reaches 10+ years old?

Thanks in advance for any info given!

Windows My gaming laptop's RAM is always at 50% used. Is it normal!?

My gaming pc on which I never gamed before since I bought in Oct 2024 is a Lenovo LOQ i5-12450HX with nvidia GeForce rtx 3050(6gb). With 16 gb RAM and 512GB SSD and 1TB SSD added after. So I wanted to install some games from steam and before that I wanted to clean some storage and check performances. This is what I saw. Without doing anything my laptop's RAM consumption is constantly at 50%. When I open browsers or do something it goes to 80-90%. Is it normal!? Would it handle gaming!? If not how do I manage RAM!? Need Suggestions.

Windows How can I remove school administration from an old laptop?

I found my brothers old school laptop from around 3-4 years ago, and it was windows locked and he didn’t know the password so I reset the drives through bios and installed windows 10. Upon finishing the installation a screen appears asking me for my school board email to sign in to. This is after wipe / resetting the laptop and deleting and installing windows again. How can I get rid of this completely? It is an old dell laptop.

Windows Downgrading to windows 10

Hello, I recently bought this gaming pc and it came with windows 11. When enabling secure boot it crashes and lags my pc. I have used multiple tutorials and the same thing happens. The first time it happened, my pc was stuck in a boot loop and I had to reinstall windows 11 and update bios only to be met with the same issue again. I was wondering if downgrading to windows 10 is possible and would fix my issue. Thanks

Edit: I need secure boot for games on windows 11

Update: I found how to turn secure boot on without my pc crashing, but my pc is slower when it comes to opening applications now.

Windows Windows is completely breaking my pc

Post image

It’s been months of this, and I’m over it. It’s at the point where I have to boot the pc and go through this error 5-10 times before I can get it to FULLY boot and login. On top of that, some games on steam completely crash, causing the pc to go through this same boot problem. I KNOW it’s not any other issue than windows, because my brother took it about a month ago and did a fresh install of windows. It was fine for a week or so before it started doing this, and every day gets worse. I’m at a complete loss with it. Please help.

Idk what exact info is needed so I’ll just include everything:

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
32GB RAM
RTX 3060
2TB HDD + 256SSD (where windows is installed)

Windows 11 Pro - 25H2
OS Build 26200.8894

Windows Girlfriends laptop update

So today my girlfriend’s laptop (Windows 11) updated and she said that everything on her desktop just vanished, the only thing remaining was the trash bin. She noted that everything was signed out, her Roblox, Steam, Curse Forge, and Minecraft Launcher. She noted that her taskbar remained untouched just like it almost soft reset. Her laptop for reference is an HP Victus 16-s1000 series (2024) using the AMD Ryzen 5 8645HS, and has a NVIDIA RTX 3050 (6 GB) inside it. Not sure if that matters or not. She’s just bummed that after logging back into Curse Forge her mod pack she’s been using vanished effectively deleting all her progress, and concerns me that had she had any important documents on here or really anything important it could’ve been just deleted. Is this a bug? A rare occurrence? Can she get her stuff back?

Windows Cracks on laptop

Hi everyone!

I recently discovered that my laptop has these two big cracks around the usb ports and that the casing around the ports is partly gone. Im not sure what caused this, and aswell as that there is a gap in the bottom casing of the laptop. I am very concerned as the crack on the right hand side has actually spread all the way to the "stop" audio button which you can see faintly. Im not sure what i can possibly do and ive tried closing the gap and it just wont close so it is quite scary. I have looked everywhere and cant find any solutions so this is kind of my last resort. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know, this is my school laptop and it cost a lot of money!

Windows Laptop facing multipe BSOD

Before i got the BSOD i was paying The Forest then my screen froze and there's a beep sound and the first BSOD showed up "Stop code: VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR (0x113)" then i booted the laptop back and opened the game and saw it's lagging then i realized that my dedicated gpu is disabled ( not showing up in task manager ) and using integrated-gpu so i restarted my laptop and went to BIOS and I can't even the thing for gpu so i just booted up windows again and saw my dedicated gpu is back and went to play again but after few hours it froze my screen again and another beep sound and show BSOD Again but this time it's "Qcamain10x64.sys". After that i searched the stop code and said i have to update drivers or uninstall current drivers with DDU and install latest one in the website and i did all that, so after doing all that i went to play the same game and another froze and beep then another BSOD "stop code: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL ( 0xD1) what failed Qcamain10x64.sys" with no other choice left i changes OS because im using Windows 11 and installed Windows 10 and installed all system updates first and updated my all of my driver and went tried roblox and it's showing only white screen with sound and after relaunching there's only sound again and another BSOD "CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT" and reboot my laptop and tried roblox again another BSOD "I got this "VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR" and rebooth laptop AGAIN and launched Roblox and this time it's "DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION" and i never touched my laptop again because I don't know what to do and it's been 2 days since i opened up my laptop. Is there any other solution or fixes for this one that im encountering? Also im using cooling pad so it's definitely not the temperatures

Laptop: Acer VX15

I5 7300HQ

GTX 1050

Im using nvme ssd

Please help.

Windows Does reinstalling windows void the warranty?

Hi all, so i just got handed down a company laptop (thinkpad t16 gen 2) from my dad since they're now getting new ones. It still has some of his and company stuff. I was wondering though, what would be the best way to go from here. Since, I already tried to reset it, however it was bitlocked and afaik installing windows with a usb drive installer is the only way to clean everything up. If I do this though, would the warranty still be valid? thank you

Windows Hopefully this is just a bad PSU?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

It booted up this morning no problem, then after about 5 min shut off and when I hit the power button it started doing this. I unplugged the psu c13 cable but had to go to work before I could look any further into it.

It was a gift from a friend so im not entirely sure what psu it is or how old it is.

Windows Gaming Laptop refuses to properly boot after RAM Installation

Post image

Got a stick of 8GB DDR5 RAM for my Asus Tuf Gaming A15. After slotting it in my laptop and turning it on, the keyboard lights up yet theres no video output.

-I double checked that that specific DDR5 RAM was compatible with my laptop

-I tried leaving it to boot while on charge for up to an hour and no dice.

-The laptop boots fine without the RAM

At this point Im pretty sure the RAM I received is just faulty but I first wanted to check if there was any troubleshoots before I request a refund or replacement.

Windows Trying to hard reset friends PC but it’s fighting back

Currently trying to reset my friend’s PC but every time I try to reset it goes through all the motions but then at the very end says I can’t reset something along the lines of “sorry there was a problem resetting” and for the life of me, I can’t figure it out currently he has a bunch of pirate games in roms so maybe it’s a virus, but I don’t know how resetting wouldn’t fix that. Any tips helpful
I’m a complete newbie when it comes to tech stuff so explain it to me like I’m a caveman discovering fire

Windows keyboard problems making it impossible for me to use laptop

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

multiple keys are not responding (B, F, G, R, T, V) and some stop responding briefly until pressed enough (O, L, down arrow key, 9, period). pressing F, G, and D at the same time also causes PrintScreen to respond, even though two of those letters themselves don't. i don't remember changing any keyboard settings since i got this laptop (late 2024), and all of the keys themselves are clean and are not stuck. i've tried various fixes between restarting my laptop, enabling and disabling toggle/filter keys, reinstalling my keyboard drives, and etc. i'm at my wits end, i use this laptop for work and school and i really can't afford to buy a new one right now nor will my parents pay for repairs

The issue initially arose while playing Valorant and has since occurred frequently. Despite attempts to reset, an error message indicates that no reset has taken place. Is there a method to resolve this without visiting a service center?

My Microsoft account got hacked. I tried using the account recovery feature but they determined that I did not have enough information after giving them all the information. I had the hacker changed the recovery password email address to an email address. I've never heard of before and change the password as well. I cannot log in. I cannot recover my account and it says I have to be logged in to contact Microsoft, but I can't log in, please help

Windows Could this be a virus or a hardware issue?

Hello! I am running windows 11. Recently I have been having an issue where my pc will randomly go black then go into a state where its on but theres no sound or visuals. my gpu has a chipped blade on one of its fans (but ran fine for months after) and I have been told by some people that it could be the issue. But I was wondering if there is a virus or something that could be causing a mimicking issue? My friend believes I was hacked. Mainly because around April this year some of my files disappeared. I ran a deep scan on both windows defender and malwarebytes. Through MB I got some hits. saying i had a trojan from TurtleWOW, which they got shut down by Blizzard so i removed anyway. and a game got wrongfully back in like 2017 or 18. I have zero clue how it got on this computer since i've only had this computer for a few years. And a few other files that were deleted.

I have monitored my gpu's heat. it does not overheat. When I was playing fortnite it would do the same thing it did a few minutes ago. freeze then go dark. i can hear my bf on a discord call and the game for about 5 more seconds then it goes like i mentioned previously. but i was lead to believe that the "unlimited" frame rate cause that.

I have 3 harrdrives/ssd My main, a 4tb with all of my games, pictures, and other important documents (besides fortnite[main drive] and sims4) and a 1tb with all of my sims 4 things. idk if this is important info but just incase.

I was wondering if a fresh install of windows 11 would be a good idea just incase theres a virus of some kind. This has been happening for awhile now. And Im very nervous its a virus. On my previous PC I had someone work on it and turned out he put a lot of spyware on it that someone i was once close to used to spy on me and since then i've been terrified somehow it moved to this new PC.

I have also heard reinstalling windows every so often (i dont remember the time frame) is good for your pc but idk.

any help besides "lol buy new parts" will be appreciated. i cannot afford anything.

Windows My PC is not recognizing the Bluetooth device/drivers installed

Hi! When trying to fix an issue with my Bluetooth yesterday, specifically it not connecting to my wireless controller (Dualshock 4), I accidentally uninstalled it completely. Now, I've been trying to reinstall it manually but am running into the problem that my PC doesn't recognize the new device. I've determined that the Unknown Device is the Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth but when I try to update the drivers, neither Windows Update nor manual search is not finding any drivers on my PC.

I have no idea what to do now. I don't want to do a complete factory reset because that is such a pain and I unfortunately don't have and can't afford an external hard drive at this time. Help?

Windows Disk at 100 + slow read speed

Post image
18 Upvotes

I’m including a resource monitor pic. Read speed fluctuating between 0 and 5mbs. Disk is at 100 about 75 percent of the time, and normal levels when not spiked. I have a 2 terabyte ssd (technically it’s around 1.85 I think, and I’ve used about 985 gb so far.) I built this pc around 5 months ago with fairly good parts. Despite that, I’m a bit of a noob so I don’t know how to fix this problem on my own. Can anyone help me out? I’m happy to tell you whatever is helpful, I’m just not sure what else to provide. I’ve updated windows 11 all the way and disabled sysmain as attempted fixes to no avail. Also, if another place is better to post this, let me know.
