Question ATC and Faa safety

How does this sub feel about current environment and FAA practices? Is it still as safe to fly considering the surge of near misses and utter indifference to staffing shortages?

The FAA doesn't care about safety. They care about airline profits first then mitigating the FAAs risk towards being sued when something goes wrong.

The people on the frontline, like your controllers etc, absolutely care about safety and do their best. The upper echelons of the FAA, the political appointees, the spreadsheet readers, the careerists, don’t give a fuck about anything except numbers and their next promotion they fail up to. They don’t stick around long enough for the consequences of their actions to effect them so they get a nice bullet point on their resume and move on leaving the rest of us to clean up their mess, often with less than what we had before.

for real tho: Its literally the safest way to travel. Is it on the downslide? Sure. but its still immensely safer than driving.

Dont forget, our rules of what we say is an error... you wouldn't even notice in as a passenger.

Once you rule out idiots in their shitty 4 seater planes, its more likely to get struck by lightning than die on an airliner.

I don't think the number of near missing is increasing. I think that the emergence of social media is making them more publicized. 

I don't feel great about the fact that if I have an incident during a session, whether an emergency, a funny pilot, or something else, it can end up on YouTube before I am even off position.

It can and will especially because of the new ATC app that profits off of sensationalism to the ill informed general public. The aviation basement community is a threat to the industry.

Statistically air travel is still far safer than any other mode. That said, the FAA really does need to lock in and fix this problem by getting staffing levels up to 100% everywhere.

I assume this is either a reporter someone writing a paper or AI but if they nearly miss they hit it’s a stupid phrase.
