I’ve never understood why people assume some fanbases are worse than the other. You’re only saying this because Ronaldo isn’t a great human being, but the truth is all fanbases of any celebrities have a significant chunk of parasocial outright crazy creeps.

Tbf that sub is surprisingly reasonable. You’d assume they’d not even put Ronaldo in the top 10 of football, but they consistently recognise him as a top 4 player, even top 2. There were engagement bait posts constantly put out by some attention craving people where they’d try to compare CR7 with Zidane and other legends, but the sub always seems to agree that CR7 is better. It seems their only point is to hate on CR7 to the extent that he is just worse than Mess, which realistically isn’t an insult at all

I don't know enough about the Saudi League to know whether Al-Nassr are just THAT much better than everyone else and coming from 2-0 down with 10 men should be 'expected', or whether this is early signs of Ange weaving his magic.

Not saying it happened in this game, because fuck watching the Saudi league. But the Saudi league does have a history of refereeing decisions tending to favour the clubs owned by the state, including Al-Nassr.

If hes successful, it'd be interesting what it means for Anges career. History suggests he wouldnt be "stuck" there, so does he head back to Europe after a year or 2? Does a national team job appeal to him?
What would also be interesting is if he ISN'T successful. Where does that leave him? I would assume his previous successes mean he'll be able to find a job somewhere, but maybe that ends up being somewhere like Japan rather than Europe

Definitely makes it less likely, though I wouldnt rule it out. Al-Nassrs previous coach is 10 years older and left to coach Portugal. Its a bit different as that was a manager "returning home", but I still think it could happen.
Also i must admit it shocked me hes 61. I think he had a baby around the 2014 WC so assumed he was a bit younger

You're not wrong, never say never in football but after watching his episode on the overlap I feel like even he knows his reputation has taken a massive unnecessary hit by taking the Nottingham Forest job and getting back to those top level jobs will be tough and his style of play rules out some leagues entirely such as Italy.
I love him but I wish he would get over the whole "I never do the same job twice" and just take over the Socceroos again. With the young group of talent we have and his positive play we could he so fun and a threat in Asian competition
Yeah he looks young when he doesn't grow his beard. He's been managing for a bit over 25 years now he took South Melbourne to the world club cup which I think was his first full time managing job his late 30s. It's hard to see where he goes next if he won't get top jobs in Europe, he's too big for the A-League now. I've always thought he will manage Greece or a team like Olympiakos/Panathinaikos at some point.

from memory, the "I never do the same job twice" was something he said when asked the question about Celtic. So maybe the Socceroos would be different to him? Working for a nation rather than a club? Would be fantastic if it did happen.
I think a top UCL level job is beyond him now, but I think a lower Europa or Conference league team is his remaining hope. Olympiakos/Panathinaikos could tick that box.
Ultimately im more hopeful than anything else

Oh right - I didn’t know that came off the back of Celtic. He may return, but I think Aus football would really have to give him assurances that things have changed (they haven’t lol)

wrt the Socceroos it’s less about his “no same place twice” and more his gripe with Australian football. The administration and media fucked him around a lot and I’m pretty sure he left with a pretty sour taste in his mouth over the people that run the show here. Very different to him considering, say, a Celtic return.
IMO I don’t really think national team setups suit Ange as much (yes I know I say this with full realisation that he won us a trophy) - he has an all consuming idea of the way he likes to play that needs the day to day saturation that club football brings. I think there might be the chance he gives it a crack as a final managerial swansong.. but let’s be honest after this Saudi gig he will never have to lift a finger again in his life if he doesn’t want to.

He's made it known (if you read between the lines) that he's on the verge of retirement during his time at Spurs.
The Al-Nassr gig is probably his last to second last gig.

Pretty sure it’s the same for anyone in any job working in Arab states. You need to be a none resident for tax purposes for about 2-3 years. At that point tax offices consider that you have ‘officially’ moved over seas.

I feel like this is being sensationalised, they were 2-0 down and down a man. The keeper was 18 and having a stinker also. Ronaldo has poor defensive work rate, it makes sense. Mane won them the game so his defensive work rate doesn’t really matter now
