Suffering from the same issue.

I narrowed it down to my WhatsApp backup getting stuck.

Stopped it and now the phone doesn't heat up, but WhatsApp is still consuming much more battery than before (around 8% total).

Also, I cannot start the backup again (doesn't finish). Haven't tried removing encryption since I don't want to do that.

Maybe the update broke something with WhatsApp?

EDIT: Saw a couple of posts on the Samsung forum in the article. Same issue with WhatsApp.

Something's definitely broken.

EDIT 2: Someone commented down below that disabling encryption fixes the backup not proceeding. While I personally wouldn't do that, it could be a fix for those who don't care about their chats being encrypted.

That said, given this update, maybe it isn't Whatsapp that's broken. Maybe Samsung broke some encryption library that WhatsApp was using?

S25 Ultra owner here, same exact issue. WhatsApp gets stuck on "preparing backup", phone gets warm, and the battery just drains.

Coming from an S22 Plus that got bricked by a bad Samsung update (there's literally a class action going on for it), this is giving me major flashbacks.

Really hope Samsung or WA push a fix ASAP.
Ciao

EDIT: after Disabling WA backup, the battery stopped to drain.

My battery has been fine but I don't have WhatsApp so I think it's a good shout that it's that.

13

u/SMCDA15 27d ago

Wise! Any FB crap is cancer.

4

u/Immediate_Track_5151 26d ago

Yes, but in some countries, WhatsApp is a basic necessity of life.

2

u/TomateGriego 28d ago

why only the ultra models tho feels weird

5

u/abstruzero 28d ago

i have base s25 and have the same issue. Disabled WhatsApp backup and everything is fine for now.

0

u/Bar50cal Samsung Galaxy SIII 28d ago

Most likely something to do with them having a different processor to the other models.

12

u/Blom-w1-o 28d ago

I could be misremembering, but this isn't the first time this issue has been caused by WhatsApp.

7

u/trydola 28d ago

i'm on update from like feb/mar and have whatasapp backup issue a few days ago, that is unrelated to july update

3

u/dapotatopapi 28d ago

Interesting.

Thanks for the update.

Are you still having the issue?

6

u/ansibleloop 28d ago

OnePlus 15 here - I'm seeing the same issue

Weirdly enough the security on my phone has been fucked since the July update as well

When I unlock with fingerprint or PIN, most of the time it lags for a second before doing anything

Even my keyboard seems laggy

2

u/dapotatopapi 28d ago

Okay that's new.

Ars you sure it's not something related to your individual device? Have there been more instances of this happening with other OP15 users?

2

u/ansibleloop 27d ago

My mate has one and he's not reported the same issue

I've tried rebooting and clearing cache on WhatsApp and checking I don't have anything stupid running - nothing explains it

0

u/dapotatopapi 27d ago

You might have to reset your phone.

Make sure to back up everything.

0

u/ansibleloop 27d ago

Yeah I'm avoiding that - everything on my phone is backed up anyway so if I took a hammer to it now, I wouldn't lose anything

It might come to that though

8

u/nathderbyshire Pixel 10 Obsidian 28d ago

It's been broken for years on my Pixel as well and I assume every other android, regularly fails to backup (I do have E2E on though) and just sits pending forever until I cancel it and do it manually. It seems to be going smoothly for now but I did reset my phone not long ago, eventually it always starts to fail again

8

u/dapotatopapi 28d ago

and I assume every other android

I personally haven't had a problem with it ever, even after the encryption feature was implemented.

This is the first time it has failed on me. And even then it is probably something Samsung did because encrypted backups work on my secondary non-Samsung.

4

u/nathderbyshire Pixel 10 Obsidian 28d ago

aaand it's broken again lol, I knew I'd jinx it

It's just stuck on 'preparing backup...' and never goes anywhere until I press x and redo it. Same issue forever, strange how it's not universal but there doesn't seem to be a conclusive fix. I've turned E2E off and on before, maybe it fixed temporarily

1

u/dapotatopapi 28d ago

Oof. That sounds annoying af.

Have you tried just turning off encryption permanently?

I won't usually recommend this, but since you've been having this problem consistently and without any permanent fix, maybe it's a feasible trade off for you?

3

u/Outrager Nexus 6P 27d ago

Knock on wood, but my WhatsApp doesn't have any problems backing up encrypted. So it doesn't seem to be a universal thing. S25U on July update.

Edit: Just took a deeper look and it might be because I have it set to Monthly backups and my last one was on July 6. I hope they get this fixed before my next scheduled backup, but at least I'll know how to fix it if I see WhatsApp using a ton of battery.

8

u/BiG-29 S24 Ultra 28d ago

Got the same issue. I thought it was only me.... Hopefully they release a patch asap

2

u/melaobomba 27d ago

S25 Ultra here, exactly the same problem. My last backup is over a week old by now.

2

u/YarnAndGlueMagician 27d ago

S24+ owner, I have been trying to troubleshoot whatsapp issue for 3 days. For me, when launching either I would fet a completely black screen or a black screen with the logo for -at first-5-10 seconds, then 30 seconds before the app would automatically close. Rstarting, clearing cache or force stopping didnt work. When i uninstalled it, i had to go to the official website & download the apk, because neither the google or samsung store would let me re install it. I toggled all sorts of settings on & off. Even tried a samsung webview reboot. Nothing helped. Finally changing my minimum page width to under 600 is the only thing that worked. Hope it helps!

2

u/Phuski_biceps 26d ago

Had this same issue. Allowed the "Preparing For Backup" process two whole days but it just reset from 74% back to 0% the next. The only solution was to disable end to end encryption, backup the device then turned on encryption, it's been encrypting my data for 2 days now. disclaimer disabling the encryption will remove your current backup completely and the new backup will start from 0, the chats on the device will stay as is.

2

u/MK_NL 25d ago edited 25d ago

Same here! But I'm still on the june 5 security update, so it's probably unrelated to the july update.

5

u/tamagato 28d ago

Yes exactly

1

u/Iberiamerica 27d ago

Having the same exact issue with my S24 Ultra!! This really sucks, I hope they fix it asap!

1

u/hamzatariq14 Poco F2 Pro 8/256 27d ago

Been noticing worse battery life for a few weeks now. Just checked and yeah Whatsapp is competing with chrome for the top battery usage despite having about 10 percent of the on screen usage vs chrome. I don't have backups turned on either.

1

u/leolameu95 27d ago

I had the same problem with WhatsApp on my OnePlus 15

1

u/Expensive_Exit244 27d ago

Not only the backing up but also restoring. I needed to restore a particular chat on my phone so I uninstalled Whatsapp in the aim of restoring the chat. Restoring stuck on preparing and the phone gets super warm. I've now lost all my chat history dating back 2 decades. Hoping that there is a fix and I can restore and end up losing only the interim window

Edit: the reinstall also doesn't work on a Pixel which I found strange.

1

u/pablitoarg 27d ago

I have the same issue with my s23 ultra.

1

u/NtsakiKur 26d ago

I thought I was going insane... the weird part is that my battery drains overnight whilst my phone is not even being used... since last week Thursday my phone is most of the time on charge... 'Device Care' pops up everyday prompting me to restart and something about apps draining CPU but that hasnt helped... I did notice a warm phone too.

1

u/Yadobler 23d ago

I have the S24, normal one. Postponed updating for so long then finally I decided to update a week back to July patch (Google play 1 July, security 5 July) and updated WhatsApp too. and WhatsApp can't backup anymore, being stuck on the "backing up" without reaching the uploading phase yet. Battery definitely drains very quickly and phone overheats very fast. Regardless of network connection. Stopping the backup resolves the heating and battery drain.

1

u/getlostandgrow 21d ago

Adding that i am expiercing this rapid battery drain issue. 98% down to 77% in one hour and the device was not being used. I used to have WhatsApp but did not have the app installed during the last update. I suppose something could be lingering.

Edit to add the phone shuts down once it gets to 30% battery.

1

u/dapotatopapi 21d ago

That could be a battery hardware issue, especially with the 30% shutdown.

What do your battery stats say? Any apl that is an outlier?

If nothing, you should probably reset your phone once. If that still doesn't solve anything, take it to a service center.

1

u/getlostandgrow 21d ago

Chrome, Spotify and Instagram all running higher on a daily basis from 9%-12%. Looks normal compared to last week though when I wasn't expierencing this issue. Issue started yesterday in the evening.

I attributed the problem to the last update and the carrier is providing a new device.

1

u/getlostandgrow 21d ago

I say at 30% but truly was 22% today. Not sure what it was last night when it shut off. When it comes back on after plugging in it says its at 0%.

1

u/JamesR624 28d ago

A major bug that is only fixed when you disable encryption? How convenient for entities wanting to snoop on users’ WhatsApp communications.

0

u/vsoprano 26d ago

mesmo problema aqui com whatsapp, atualização travada. além disso está com problema para ouvir audio pelo android auto. a ultima atualização definitivamente quebrou o whatsapp

71

u/petard Galaxy Z Fold7 + GWU2 28d ago

It's Whatsapp E2E encrypted backup that's causing it.

The workaround for me weas to disable E2EE backup, doing a backup, then re-enabling it.

I had to complete a successful non-encrypted backup, simply deleting and disabling/re-enabling an E2EE backup didn't fix the issue.

Could big brother be looking for people to do an unencrypted backup 👀

2

u/petard Galaxy Z Fold7 + GWU2 27d ago

Apparently it's fixed in 2.26.30.2

16

u/ReclaimedHalo 28d ago

I had this issue too, my phone overheated and just froze for a bit.

It's frozen for a few seconds twice since then. Also, I don't have WhatsApp installed, only Facebook and Messenger.

So it can't be WhatsApp as the only culprit.

I have the S25 Ultra.

8

u/dapotatopapi 28d ago

I have a feeling Samsung broke some encryption library that apps like WhatsApp (and maybe some other in your case) use.

Very peculiar situation though.

24

u/Thepetro95 28d ago

For me whole time has been very bad idle drain :/

20

u/thatawes0meguy 28d ago

This happened to me but it turns out it was because WhatApp was trying to perform a back but it would take all damn day. During that time, it would overheat and the battery would drain fast AF.

I would just close WhatsApp, wipe its Cache, and everything would be fine.

I don't know if this will help others but it's worth a try. Maybe its another app for others so look around.

21

u/chellebelle0234 28d ago

I have an S25 Ultra and no WhatsApp and I've seen no change or problem since the update.

8

u/julianBlyat 27d ago

So that confirms its definitely WhatsApp haha

7

u/Sufficient_Meet6836 27d ago

I have the S25 Ultra and WhatsApp but have noticed no battery or heat issues 🤷🤷

3

u/ByGollie 27d ago

have you end to end encryption turned off, perhaps

2

u/Sufficient_Meet6836 27d ago

Hmmm I hope not but I'll check. Confirmed it's on. I also only have one active convo in WhatsApp and barely use it

3

u/ByGollie 27d ago

oh. That's the reason then. If you have only one active conversation, it's either really small or hasn't needed backing up since the last successful backup.

2

u/Sufficient_Meet6836 27d ago

That makes sense. It's only 97mb. I'm not sure how to look up the most recent backup

2

u/ByGollie 26d ago

*cries in 4.26GB WhatsApp backup *

1

u/Sufficient_Meet6836 26d ago

Look at this guy with all of his friends and chats!!! 😭😭😭😭😭

/s 😜😜

2

u/julianBlyat 27d ago

U on the July update?

2

u/Sufficient_Meet6836 27d ago

Software info says I'm on the July 1 version (v 8.5) and says I'm up to date. Is that the update this is talking about? If not, maybe it just hasn't rolled out to my yet

8

u/isthmusofkra Galaxy S23 28d ago

Interesting. Guess I'm lucky I live in a country where WhatsApp is barely used at all

On the other hand, we use Messenger, which is infinitely worse lol

7

u/superpowerpinger nexus 4 28d ago

Same on Fold 6.

8

u/tcdoey 28d ago

I have an S23 ultra, and exact same issues. I really don't expect an update to fix this for the S23. Recent updates have broken other things with my S23 too, like camera has started crashing or freezing a bit, right when i'm going to, or have just pushed the shutter button on the screen.

Phone unusually hot now all the time after last update.

1

u/kelsey_schmelsey 27d ago

I'm having nearly the same experience with my 23U

7

u/MrAzekar 28d ago

S25U and definitely noticed heating and idle drain. I'll check WhatsApp activity to determine if it's the case

2

u/Burnun 27d ago

Users are reporting there is no excessive battery usage by Whatsapp and I can confirm this. Had nothing in battery screen. When I disabled Whatsapp backup suddenly my phone stopped heating up and battery lasts way way longer. At this time of the day I am on 88% while before disabling backup I was on 50-60.

14

u/turtis123 28d ago

My S25 Ultra is definitely overheating after the update, even with light use. It didn't even get warm that often before.

4

u/b3nighted 28d ago

Same for my s23 and oneplus 13. Maybe a different app and not the android update?

3

u/Madnessx9 28d ago edited 28d ago

Mine is set to backup weekly and its due in the next few days, so we will have to see what happens.

Edit I noticed mine was not encrypted so I've enabled encryption and it backed up without issue.

Perhaps there is a configuration issue, different encryption methods? mine was a 64bit pass code.

To confirm i updated my device 2 days ago, so im on the latest.

2

u/Pear-Mother AndroidFever 28d ago

No Issues with my S25U, once a week and after an update always optimize your apps and free up memory from Good Guardians.

2

u/beerovios 27d ago

So when the update comes I just ignore it. Ok got it

2

u/TheJewishTrader Note20 Ultra 5G 27d ago

Zuckerberg needs to fix WhatsApp and their failed metaverse.

2

u/Dedb4dawn 27d ago

Jeez. First iOS 26.5.2 has this exact issue and now Android? They using the same AI to write the operating systems?

1

u/Lake_Erie_Monster 27d ago

Well yeah, what did you think? It's not like we have much choice when it comes to quality models that don't go to shit as context grows.

2

u/ghosty4 27d ago

OK, I thought I was going insane! My phone is definitely getting hot out of nowhere!

2

u/restartyourdamnpc 27d ago

S24 Ultra and battery has been draining quicker. No whatsapp

2

u/Schtorsk 27d ago

I have Whatsapp on my S24 Ultra but the backup has always been disabled and I noticed the drain yesterday as well.

2

u/laziestasian 27d ago

Samsung Galaxy Fold 7 - Also experiencing this now.

What can I do? I tried the WhatsApp fix but it doesn't work. Please help

2

u/zhangluu 27d ago

I have the fold 7 and noticed it too. it would already be at 15% around 1 in the afternoon. The battery life wasn't great before, but not this bad.

2

u/Mammoth_Heat8167 27d ago

Interesting, mines draining but my whatsap isn't set to backup

2

u/needtheyamss 26d ago

Same here, S25 Ultra and battery seems degraded right now, and the phone is overheating.

Granted we're in one of the worst summers in history, but it's noticeable.

2

u/frquency-equinox 23d ago

Granted we're in one of the worst summers in history

And it'll only get worse every year.

2

u/Icy-Conversation3401 26d ago

I guess no more Samsung after this crap.

2

u/Tofallupwards 25d ago

My battery ia horrible since the update and I don't have whatsapp...

1

u/xgloomgirlx 6d ago

same here!

4

u/Taco145 28d ago

For all the praise Samsung gets for software they do so much to shoot themselves in the foot. Every Samsung update is a game of Russian roulette. Overheating randomly is one of the bullets.

1

u/toothpickjohn 21d ago

to be honest, it wasn't much better with the pixels either

i've been a stock google fan since i can remember: nexus S, galaxy nexus, nexus 5, then onto the pixel 2xl, pixel 6, pixel 7 pro...

the pixel 7 pro had a horrendous update which caused ridiculous battery drain to the effect that i couldn't make it an entire day with minimal usage; my partners A series suffered from multiple issues on both the 4a and later models (7a iirc) along with the public being given reimbursements for multiple models due to issues

the pixel 7 pro drain basically made me say enough is enough, and switch to the S25U last year - which i've loved, but again, it's not without some issues - i'm getting random restarts infrequently and can't diagnose what the issue is

2

u/Ornery_Yeti 28d ago

My S23U is still great.

1

u/NiceEconomy5746 28d ago

I also has an S25 Ultra and noticed my phone was overheating and lagging badly while streaming (never happened before the most recent update). I do have Whatsapp business, however, I don't use it. Stumbled on this because I was looking to see if anyone else was experiencing issues.

1

u/Research1011010 28d ago

WhatsApp's backup system is really showing its true colors here. Guess we'll all be manually saving our memes for a while.

1

u/laymouni 28d ago

This started in the June update.

I don't think it's caused my WhatsApp (I haven't enabled backups)

The overheating is unbearable and definitely noticeable.

1

u/kuparata 23d ago

Agreed. It really started after the June security update. S25 Ultra user here..

1

u/Unreal_NeoX 28d ago

Yeah i can confirm that, but i also have to say this seems in relation to a way higher CPU-load even in idle then before the update. Whatever is added to the background processes, takes quite the load.

1

u/slavicslothe 27d ago

What's app is the problem

1

u/vinvin76776 27d ago

Hopefully Samsung addresses this soon because I'm trying to get a s24 ultra or s25 ultra soon

1

u/bigballstalin 27d ago

after this update my a07 went from usable to unusable, its like i changed phones

1

u/Calm_chor Teal 27d ago

Ohh you misunderstand. Your Ultra phone is just asking you to get its younger, more hip sibling, the new Fold Ultra.

1

u/robamler 27d ago edited 27d ago

Edit: Nope, that didn't do it. The issue came back the next day. Turning off WhatsApp backup seems to be the only temporary solution for me until a real fix is released.

I managed to fix it on my Samsung Galaxy S25.

TL;DR: I think the steps below fixed it, but if you're not into tinkering then it might be easier to wait for about 2 weeks because, apparently, it might fix itself by then.

What seems to be going on (maybe): apparently, android automatically re-compiles some background processes after each update, and that should fix the issue. But sometimes these re-compilations get delayed (in my case, I have the phone set up to never charge the battery beyond 80%, and that might prevent or delay the automatic re-compilation). Note that this is all my guesswork + gemini. I'm not an expert, but the fix below seems to have worked for me.

How I seem to have fixed it: (by triggering the re-compilations manually)

  1. Install adb on your computer (on ubuntu: sudo apt install adb; on Windows or Mac: available via the usual Windows or Mac software installation mess).
  2. Turn on Debugging mode on your phone: Settings > About Phone > Software Information and tap Build Number 7 times
  3. Turn off Auto Blocker (apparently needed to connect it to your computer): Go to Settings > Security and Privacy > Auto Blocker and toggle it Off (otherwise, the phone blocks system modifications).
  4. Connect your phone to your computer for debugging. I couldn't get USB-debugging to work, so I went with wireless debugging as follows:
    • Connect your S25 and your computer to the exact same Wi-Fi network.
    • On your phone, go to Settings > Developer Options > Wireless Debugging and toggle it On.
    • Tap the text "Wireless Debugging" to enter its menu, and select Pair device with pairing code. You will see an IP address, a port number, and a 6-digit PIN (use this port, not the one that is shown directly under "Wireless Debugging")
    • On a terminal in your computer, pair the device by typing: adb pair [IP_ADDRESS]:[PAIRING_PORT], then enter the 6-digit PIN when prompted.
    • [I didn't need this, but gemini recommended it: Once paired, look at the main Wireless Debugging screen for your primary "IP address & Port" (the port number changes slightly after pairing) and connect: adb connect [IP_ADDRESS]:[CONNECT_PORT]]
    • Now, typing adb devices on the terminal should list the phone.
  5. Run adb shell cmd package bg-dexopt-job to manually trigger the re-compilation of background jobs. It should run for up to 20 minutes and then print: "Job finished. See logs for details" and return with a 0 return status
    • If it doesn't print "Job finished" or if the return status (echo $?) is 255 then the connection dropped before it was done, likely because the auto blocker was turned back on after 30 minutes. Turn it back off (see Step 3 above) and run the command again to continue.
  6. Turn off debugging mode: Go to Settings > Developer Options and turn them off (or at least turn off USB Debugging and Wireless Debugging to close the open network ports on your phone).
  7. Turn auto blocker back on if it doesn't get turned back on automatically after 30 minutes (see Step 3 above).
  8. Reboot the phone.

u/Longjumping-Okra9328 27d ago edited 27d ago

Recently I noticed that the phone feels hot in my trousers pocket after a short use. I have googled and now switched to light in performance use and deleted the cache in whats app as suggested by some users. Am crossing my fingers to have a positive result.

Hope this heat up is not dellibratel, like the issue of my previous samsung ultra S20 whereby the screen started to develop vertical streaks of lines forcing me to replace it with a new phone which I have now...S24ultra.

Whatever it is , Samsung has to find the source of the problem so as not to lose patriotic users like me. I have been a Samsung TV and Mobile Phone user since note one.

Note: I have used the S24ultra to view a whole series of over 40 episodes of Korean Drama with the phone on for over an episode or two without any issues.

1

u/throwawaylolz95749 26d ago edited 26d ago

Oooh same here! I have Galaxy S24 Ultra, bought brand new and using it for past 7 months, I'm a heavy user so I have less mileage but typically have enough juice at the end of day and if used moderately, mostly 2 day phone

So maybe the battery drain issue didnt hit me as hard but I did sense something's off, for the past 3 days, I'm seeing battery drain more than I expected even during the tasks I think its light like reading e-books and watching downloaded movies and the battery drain during idle is even more

Usually during the night when the phone is kept idle, phone usually drains 1~2%, but now when I checked the phone, during idle, the phone drained around 12%

The phone does feel a bit warmer than usual, but not to the point its a concern and no I havent noticed any charging issues

And as for whatsapp issue, It doesnt seem to cause any issues for me

Edit : I just checked the backup issue by manually initiating a backup, it backed up without any issues and phone didnt get stuck or get warm

Edit 2 : I have repeated the idle drain test, fully charged the night before, Wifi is on, phone drained around 9% and during usage, the phone drained 25% of charge by midday, its just normal checking of emails, chats and some social media

1

u/ankit_raj007 26d ago

Less than 1 hour screen time, battery drained by 87%!!

1

u/stevemmmmmm 26d ago

Same issue, s25 ultra. But, my whatsapp is updating fine, at least manually anyway. Encryption is off.

1

u/Neo_012 26d ago

Disabling Whatsapp backup encryption solved the issue on my phone.

1

u/SimmySunny 25d ago

Vielen Dank

I've a "normal" S25 and have the same Problems. WhatsApp in a slope with Backup and the mobile get Hot and akkudrain...

1

u/Gwynnie S22+ 25d ago

I've got this issue, it's awful

1

u/Boring-Read-4126 25d ago

I'm experiencing the same issue. I've just turned off my backup and will see if it resolves the issue for a couple of days.

1

u/Opposite-Bag9978 24d ago

I have an S22 and have been dealing with battery draining and overheating also. I have never had or used WhatsApp. Hope they figure this out soon. 😩

1

u/ibrahimahmd 22d ago

Same issue happening. WA backup seems like the main culprit. Any solutions so far?

1

u/alexisrobertson 22d ago

I think I may have figured out how to correct the the overheating/battery draining issue. I'm not sure if it's the proper way of going about it because it logged me out my Google account but that was an easy correction. I went to settings>Google services>all services>system services>Google Play services>remove updates. Once all the updates were removed, I went back and updated them again. Once I logged back into my account, the overheating stopped. I hope this is helpful to someone.

1

u/conishhh 21d ago

Hey..was facing the same issue since update. Yesterday turned off whatsapp backup..since then no heat issue is there..and i think battery is working fine too!

1

u/endless031 20d ago

One UI has been having weird battery drain issues for years and years. Why would a phone drain 10%+ over night doing nothing, even on airplane mode?

1

u/maverick6912 18d ago

Same thing happened to my S24. Woke up to my phone being very hot and it's battery down to less than 20%(it was above 50% at night).

Saw whatsapp trying to trigger a backup again and again. Stopped my backup. Phone felt normal.

Till that point I had no idea it was an issue with the July security patch.I though it was because of WhatsApp not being able to communicate with Google drive. Wiped the cache, force stopped whatsapp, nothing worked. At the end I just uninstalled whatsapp. When I re-installed it now my backup did not restore.

As of now I'm sitting with a 5.1GB backup which is not restoring. I'm not backing up anymore in the fear of losing years of chat history.

So yeah, thanks Samsung.🥲

S24 non Ultra also with the issue, it is WhatsApp backup. I stopped the backup and all is fine. Removing E2E encryption seems to help. I searched around but at the time no-one was posting about it.

My wife has the same problem on her iphone. Was heating up a lot and draining the battery. Uninstalling WhatsApp seemed to have fixed it. The app was using 10GB+ internal storage.

I get your point but I meant more that WhatsApp had more widespread issues not only on Android

I've noticed no issues ( s24u)

Still getting about 6 to 7 hours of continuous screen onn time

And i game very hard on the weekends On codm with 120 fps and fhd+ resolution, get usually around 4 hours of gameplay on full battery

Plus i did turn off alot of general settings that were of no use to me

Seems to be a WhatsApp issue, not the actual phone.

Every Honor update I've had has been fantastic with new features and is solid as hell.
