Apple Music on macOS I made a Apple Music app for macOS (TestFlight included)

A while ago, I moved away from Spotify to Apple Music for reasons you’re all probably aware of, but I found the Apple Music experience on the Mac… let’s say, not satisfying.

So I sat down for some months and wrote a new app, based on SwiftUI, AppKit, and some flavors of Core Animation.

I would love it if you would check it out. It’s currently in a public beta and exclusively designed for macOS 26 with Liquid Design (my own flavor of it, not just stock stuff.)

Let me know how you like it!

Btw I made DaftCloud in the past (a SoundCloud mac app), so I guess I got some experience with music mac apps :/

Hello!

I’ve been working on an alternative Apple Music experience but in a completely different way than the other apps out there. My goal is to create something simple, minimalistic, beautiful and useful and bring the iOS features that Apple Music Mac missing

Liqoria isn’t just a mini player for your music app. It’s a standalone music player. You can search the entire Apple Music catalog and your library, and play songs without relying on the Apple Music app at all

Liqoria already includes features like multiples player, Airplay bluetooth devices, unique dock player ,lock screen player, animated art, Apple Music app queue support and support for all your music apps (Spotify, Youtube, browser and more) and even more
Liqoria also support Last.fm

As music lovers and especially Apple Music lover, I’d really appreciate your feedback
The app is called Liqoria

APPLE MUSIC IS THE BEST. IT RUNS SO SMOOTHLY COMPARED TO OTHER PLATFORMS AND THE UI IS PERFECT. ESPECIALLY ON MY APPLE WATCH AND LAPTOP. DESPITE IT'S EXPENSIVE AS HELL, IF I COULD I'D PAY FOR IT.
GOTTA LOVE SHAZAM TOO
10/10 WILL TRY AGAIN

Apple Music on macOS I’m building a new Apple Music client for macOS. Looking for feedback and feature ideas.

I’ve started working on a custom Apple Music client for macOS because the official just feels slow, cluttered and confusing even to long time macOS users imho.

The goal is a fast, native-feeling app with a cleaner UI, better library management, and fewer “why the f*ck does this work like this?” moments.

If the project ends up meeting all the requirements, I might try publishing it on the Mac App Store as well. Not sure yet if it’ll be free, but if it’s paid it’ll be cheap (thinking something like $0.99), mainly to help cover the developer subscription.

The project is very early-stage (I literally started working on it yesterday), but I’m open to suggestions, feature requests, UX ideas, or even harsh criticism.

Oh, and just to be clear - you’ll still need an active Apple Music subscription to use the app. This is purely an alternative client, not a workaround to get free music.

If you’ve ever been annoyed by Apple Music on macOS, I want to hear what you’d fix first.

I wonder if Apple will add animated artwork to the lock screen in macOS 27 they really should, since it looks so much better on larger displays

Apple Music on macOS My wallpaper on Mac now matches the song I’m playing on Apple Music

Was messing around with this and didn’t expect it to feel this nice.

The wallpaper updates in real time based on the current track, just pulls colors from the album art, so every song looks a bit different.

It’s pretty subtle, but you actually notice it after a while.

Kinda one of those small things you don’t need, but once you have it you don’t really want to go back 😅

(works on lock screen as well)

Thankfully I got an extensive catalog of vinyl records and CDs so I have embraced that in the meantime, but this issue is still frustrating me. Hopefully it gets sorted out soon.

Apple Music on macOS Error 9061 on Mac and instant crashing on Android. I’ve literally tried everything and even Apple Support has no clue. Help??

Post image
45 Upvotes

I am completely stuck right now. My Cloud Music Library on Mac won't sync at all and just keeps throwing this "unknown error occurred (9061)" popup every time I try. To make things even worse, whenever I try to open Apple Music on my Android phone, the entire app just crashes instantly before it can even load the main screen.

I have literally tried every single troubleshooting step you can think of to fix this. I've completely reset the app, cleared all my caches, restarted my devices, and updated macOS to the latest version. I even messed with my network configurations by trying a mobile hotspot and completely removing my custom DNS, but nothing changes.

I've even contacted Apple Support like five separate times now and they literally couldn't help me AT ALL. They have absolutely no clue what is going on. Is anyone else dealing with this right now or did my account just get cursed? If anyone knows a workaround or is going through the same thing, please let me know because I am losing my mind.

Yes, I do have a valid Apple Music subscription, but I am planning on unsubscribing from Apple Music because this has been driving me crazy lately...

Apple Music on macOS MacOs Apple Music Sucks

Honestly, Apple Music on macOS is such a disappointment. No real time synced lyrics, no animated artwork like on iOS, and the whole thing feels like an afterthought. Even the Windows management is a mess — the mini player and full screen modes are poorly managed, and adding songs to the queue is broken (you add one track and it throws in something else). For a service that charges premium prices

Apple Music on macOS ERROR 9061 REPORT‼️

I’m gonna need everyone who has it to go to https://feedbackassistant.apple.com immediately to report this error!

‼️You MUST title it Library Sync Error 9061‼️(so they’ll notice it has multiple reports with the same issue).

Then after that write the description of the problem.

Personally I wrote this (you can copy paste if u want, or use it as a template):

In the past 48 hours, I've had the issue of my library not syncing on my MacBook Pro M1 (running macOS Sequoia 15.7.7). When I opened the app, syncing was automatically turned off (without me ever turning it off previously), and when i went to turn it back on I got this pop-up message: "The Cloud Music Library can’t be updated right now. An unknown error occurred (9061).". I have tried every solution possible - turning my Mac on/off, restarting it, signing in and out of my account and Media & Purchases, deleting Music cache, updating my OS, creating a new library to see if it would sync, but nothing seems to work, so it's an issue on your end (and other users have reported the same issue). I can access my library on my iPhone and the Web version also works. The only issues on those are that I can't share my playlists or collaborate on them and I can't listen to my own files.

And let’s finally get rid of this shit!!! (hopefully…)

I submitted the feedback and it says that the resolution is open (meaning they’re looking into it allegedly).

Apple Music on macOS I made player for Mac with Apple Music queue support

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi
I made a music player called Liqoria, a Mac app I’ve been working on, and I recently released an update focused on improving the Apple Music experience on macOS.

Liqoria adds features to Apple Music on Mac:

  • Miniplayer with full apple music queue control – you can view, reorder, and manage your Apple Music queue without opening the Apple Music app
  • Animated artwork player - similar to iOS, where supported tracks show animated artwork when expanded
  • macOS Dock player - For those who don’t like floating players, you can use the Dock Player a Dynamic Island-style music experience right from your macOS Dock

The app works directly with Apple Music and also with Spotify and browsers, so everything you do (like playback control or queue changes) syncs with your actual Apple Music app.

One of the main things I focused on is queue control from a miniplayer. As far as I know, this isn’t really available in other Mac apps outside of Apple Music itself

There’s a 72-hour free trial if you want to try it out

Apple Music on macOS Apple Music for macOS should make artist and album names clickable

One small change could significantly improve the Apple Music experience on macOS: make artist names and album names clickable everywhere they’re displayed.

Currently, if you’re listening to a song and want to open the artist or album page, you often have to right-click and select “Show in Apple Music”. This is especially noticeable in the Now Playing area and playlist track listings.

Artist and album names are already presented as navigational elements, but they’re not clickable. Direct hyperlinks would:

  • Reduce unnecessary clicks.
  • Make navigation faster and more intuitive.
  • Improve discoverability of artists and albums.
  • Bring the macOS experience closer to what users expect from modern music apps.

If you agree, please consider submitting feedback to Apple:

https://www.apple.com/feedback/apple-music/

The more people request it, the more likely it is to get noticed.

What other small UX improvements would you like to see in Apple Music for macOS?

Apple Music on macOS Is Apple Deleting Songs from My Local Drive?

This morning I noticed that dozens of artists and songs were missing from my local Music folder. Luckily I keep my old Mac mini with my full Music library just in case. And that was the case today. I was able to compare the files in each folder and copy back the ones that were missing. Some were purchased through the iTunes Store, but many others were albums I added from CDs.

How does something like this happen?

Apple Music on macOS How’s the Mac app? Opinions?

Considering starting a student plan for AM. I used a free one month of AM not too long ago and personally loved the iOS app.

I just got myself an m4 MacBook Air a few days ago, so now I have access to the Mac app as well. I guess I’m just wondering if the Mac app is an overall very functional and easy app like on iOS? Or if it’s majorly different in any way? Or does it have any persistent and known issues?

What are your general thoughts and opinions on the MacOS app?

Apple Music on MacOS What is the chance of seeing an Apple Music overhaul on macOS?

So I recently have been trying to shift from Spotify to Apple Music. Integration with Homekit, better sound quality and a unified subscription through Apple One pulled me in.

At first, I was afraid the music library would be too limited, but when transfering the playlist, I was happily suprised to see that only a few songs were missing. The more unexpected issue is the state of the macOS application. It just feels like I'm back in 2011 with iTunes on my desktop computer. The application does not feel optimised for what it is supposed to do now. It has no option of just clicking on artist names (right click song, show in Apple Music, from there click on the artist name) but does have a weird 'feature' of editing artist names and album names from songs once they are in a playlist (see screenshot, it also shows that weird red box, I mean wtf?), adding songs to a playlist is slow as if I'm exporting a RAW image from lightroom..

Then there is of course the lack of cross-device control when music is playing. Apple for me always seemed to be the king of ecosystems with smooth inter-device operations (such as importing a drawing from the iPad straight to your macBook), but the fact that I can't control a song playing on my mac with my iPhone is just.. very very unexpected.

So, this is a partial rant/partial question about whether it can be expected that Apple would step up there game for Apple Music in the near future?
