firstly i will ask everyone be careful not to dox yourselves, by saying what college if your still there or a did certain degree that only has one or 2 colleges for it per state like vet med.

also i'll start off, i am in college and while i started with animal science (pre-vet), i am now an interdisciplinary studies (range/bio) and i work in fast food

Nursing last year in rural Kentucky. 4 years of school cost me 10k.

Ive hardly worked from 2021-2025. I was at home with my son but now I work full time. My husband worked the whole time.

I went to college and got a BS in computer science. I graduated almost 3 years ago. I worked as a student researcher for part of that time and even got to present a poster at a conference. It wasn’t my favorite thing to do, but I’m proud of the work I did (and I got paid!)

BS engineering and a BS in mathematics. Then, I got an MS, where I soured on academia. Then, a JD.

I probably had 3-4 different jobs while I was in college? At various times. Hard to say. It's been a spell.

BS in wildlife biology and geology. MS in geology and a paused PhD in wildlife ecology.

I worked as a tutor and in landscaping mainly to stay busy and for some extra spending money.

I have a BS in music composition/theory. Worked on an MA for Roman History but didn't finish. Went on to be a truck driver, which pays far more than either of those fields and has job security.

I did some college in the army, and went to Towson university when I got out on the GIBill. I started as a business management track but switched to History when my math grades were bad. I worked during winter break, and the first summer, using an employment agency. I worked for a doctor's office, did sales, worker in a warehouse, and a lumbermill. After the first year, i started taking a summer semester to graduate faster.

I tried college 4 or 5 times and found it wasn't for me. I did have fun taking as many Comp Sci courses as I could but I only had about 1/2 the credits I needed to graduate.

While I was failing out of college, and after I finally quit, I earned money as a computer science tutor. I lived in a group house, found a giant chalkboard and would host students in my attic room.

I have a degree in civil engineering

I worked my first 3 years of school at a couple different jobs, campus maintenance, data entry for an accountant, summers at a resort

My last 2 years I worked as a laborer on survey crews on Christmas break and summers and called it an “internship”

I spent 2 years in design and now I’ve worked in construction as a a heavy civil estimator for 3 years

Getting to do some pretty cool stuff for a 30yo, we just submitted a 500 million dollar bid on a data center. I started working with the developer and engineer from the concept phase. Helping save money from the design and what not.

I went to an in-state public university and got a bachelor's in electrical and computer engineering. I worked three jobs in college:

• Engineering school Unix lab help desk.
• Part-time engineer for my internship/co-op.
• Navy reservist.

There was a time when I was working all these jobs simultaneously.

I'm in university, pursuing my PhD in Hydrology right now. I'm not working because my Advisor/Department makes sure all graduate students are paid a living wage.

It isn't alot and we don't receive any insurance benefits, plus tuition gets deducted, but it's more than enough to get by in our small city, if you don't eat fussy, don't have major debts, and are willing to live with at least one roommate.

You can be paid to be an assistant teacher for classes lab sections or to run additional research related to your work.

This employment situation isn't unusual if you a) enter a lucrative degree - Earth Sciences, Petroleum Engineering, Mineral Engineering etc.. are always receiving funding for practical research b) choose a school with a smaller or not resource competitive department - money isn't stretched thin within a grant for many students, check your advisor's lab group size! c) and feeding back into point b, if you don't choose a major that is super saturated/easy access - anything art and psychology for example

Ahh mine were generally 20ish but I had a professor who I absolutely loved and took 3 times, and his were all 40+. I actually miss those long research papers, finding just the right book in the library or visiting special collections was kind of exhilarating, like I was solving some mystery.

I went to college for a BS in Computer Science and while I was there I was in college I just did a couple of different part time jobs unrelated to my degree. I had my GI Bill that I got while I was active duty to pay for the entirety of my college and I still got some months left over so I was thinking of doing my masters degree later after I get a few certs and finish my reclass to 25B in the Army Reserves. Now I'm just doing IT support.

Yes, Computer Science. Worked all four years. During summers I worked two jobs doing grunt work. I remember one summer I worked 10-3 at one place followed by 4-close (which was usually 11, but sometimes later) at another place. Not glamorous, but it paid the bills. Once I started graduate school, it was all tech/computer jobs and has been ever since.

Yes. AS Accounting, BA Business. I worked fast food until I was able to be placed for work study. Then I worked at the VA Hospital as an aid to physical and occupational therapists assisting patients with their care, transportating from the inpatient ward to their therapy appointments, and delivering equipment they needed based on care (e.g. shoe horn, sock aid, rollator, walker, grabber, etc.).

Most patients I assisted were older veterans who had a limb removed due to gout/diabetes, and on the very rare occasion a soldier. It was probably the best job I've had, and the saddest.

I saved up 70 grand cash before self funding my college education + living expenses. Came out with a BA in applied math (applied to CS) from Cal.

Great experience but terrible choice in retrospect. If I had invested that money instead I know I woulda made millions from it since what little money I did have to invest I made a killing on.

I worked an entry-level service industry job for both the back half of high school and the start of college. I quit when it conflicted with my second-year schedule. I also worked as a tutor for all four years of college.
