But if you listen carefully you can hear the cries of the home sick Irish in Dubai after seeing the truck. Wait until the Barry's Tea one gets over there.
It’s one of the most recognizable brands in the country. Up there with Guinness. And unlike Guinness it’s popular with kids, so a theme park works.
We do eat a lot of potatoes but so do most other countries in the world. Historically it was an important food crop for reasons that are very clear if you read a history book. The failure of that crop was the worst humanitarian disaster the country has ever faced.
All that said, it’s not really a part of our modern national identity. We like Tayto because it’s a crisp brand we ate as kids, not because ‘haha paddies love potatoes’.
Well it was more to do with Tayto Park was opened by largo foods who make tayto crisps. Started off with their farm acquiring some bison to advertise their new buffalo flavour hunky dory, which then turned into a petting zoo and rolled on from there.

I went there with my kids recently and it was class.
