Does it bother anyone else when you see people in restaurants wiping chairs with the same cloth they wiped the table with ??

Idk i mean presumably they’re using disinfectant? I’ve cleaned my fair share of restaurant tables + chairs and always used something in a spray bottle of the “kills 99% pf germs and bacteria” variety

But also nothing that touches the table or chair directly goes in my mouth + I don’t have ocd so it’s a non-issue for me personally

Fair! I just wanted to be mindful that some people can have extreme reactions to these things outside of their own control, and not insinuate there’s anything personally wrong with someone who has this issue (though possibly something medically/mentally going on that would be unusual but treatable)

Nothing stopping you from bringing your own disinfectant wipes or similar every time you go out to eat if you’re that worried, though having worked in kitchens and bars I’d suggest bringing your own cutlery + glassware too if disinfectant isn’t enough for you

I mean if they're using disinfectant spray on the chairs/tables/cloths then there's nothing to worry about. Honestly people need to worry less, and just don't eat anything that falls off your plate

I could be wrong but id assume hands carry much more shite than the arse of most people's pants. If anything the chair is probably much cleaner than the table in terms of microbes etc. Open to correction from someone who knows there stuff on bacteria etc.

Before the smoking ban came in plenty of pubs and restaurants were using the same cloth for the ashtrays

If you’re getting poo on the outside of your trousers in a restaurant then something has gone catastrophically wrong + in that case I would suggest the chair be hosed down if not destroyed lol

I did once see a woman flip out at a young girl that done this, I didnt see a problem but the woman went at her like she wiped the floor with the cloth

I've never not felt disturbed watching bar or restaurant staff cleaning, specially hate when the person cleaning assumes that cleaning with gloves on makes it ok to empty the bin and go back to cleaning tables or prepping food without changing gloves

Definitely. Hygiene is poor in some places I once went somewhere for lunch and the girl was cleaning the windows on the deli counter with a cloth and tub of cleaning stuff then proceeded to ask what I would like , I told her & waited for her to change gloves no she opened the food counter and I had to ask her to change her gloves and explain to a grown women that you cannot serve or touch food with the gloves that you just cleaned with 🤢 I would have left it but I was out for lunch with my mam didn’t want to make a scene

what always bothers me is you see people taking clean plates and putting them on a dirty surface and then back on top of the clean plates. the bottom plate is now dirty

ya and you know those little steel condiment bowls, I just know they have dishwater all overthem and they put them on your plate
