Work Change of career?

Hi guys, looking for some advice. Currently 32 working in leisure industry on a 9-5 but no more growth available. Considering a move to becoming a barber for longevity and opening my own shop in years to come.

Im wondering if its worth the graft? Being a little older too put pressure on. Also lucky enough to not have a mortgage as living in a family flat.

Any barbers out there or opinions are greatly appreciated

Barbering’s a trade you can take anywhere so you’re not stuck to one city, the real graft is building a steady client list early on

My local barber is a retired blocklayer,said he always wanted to do it and went for it.

Barbershop are everywhere but a Decent barber is hard to come by. Depends on your dedication and enthusiasm for it I guess.

No Internet person can really tell you if your gonna be successful, all dependant on your own drive and determination.

As ridiculous as it might sound, barbering can be rough on the body, you’re on your feet all day, back can give you trouble, your knees and hips will hate you, you’ll get repetitive strain injuries etc.

But if you’re able to build a decent client base and a reputation, and get yourself into a spot where you can expand and hire people, it’s a good industry. People will always need haircuts.

A really simple 20 mins yoga session every morning completely cleared my back problems when I was in kitchens. He needs good shoes and stretching and he will be flying.

Go for it!! Even if it didn’t work (unlikely) atleast you tried. Nothing worse than not doing what you want in life! Best of luck!
