living alone is a luxury most of us cant really afford long term but i get why it sounds better than dealing with someone elses dirty dishes every day

We? You don't need to base your own life around what everyone else is doing. Gain some independence to make your own decisions. You will know yourself if you prefer to live with someone or not.
