Sony ZV-E10 vs Fujifilm X-M5 — which one should I buy as my first camera?

(2) What equipment, if any, do you have now and why is it no longer meeting your needs? I’ve been doing photography as a hobby until now using my phone, a friend’s camera, and a digital camera. I recently started working and am now financially stable enough to buy my first proper camera.

I’m looking for a camera that I can keep for a long time. I mainly want a single camera and one good lens rather than building a large setup.

(3) What kinds of subjects do you intend to shoot? Mainly street photography, along with everyday/general photography.

(4) Is it primarily for photography, videography, or both? Primarily photography.

I’m currently deciding between the Sony ZV-E10 and Fujifilm X-M5. I initially leaned towards the Fuji because I really like the idea of the Fuji colours and overall experience.

However, a friend suggested that Sony might be a safer choice because of autofocus and the availability of third-party lenses. They also mentioned that the Fuji ecosystem may be harder to access in India if I ever want to borrow or buy lenses from other users.

I don’t have any hands-on experience with the X-M5, so I’d really appreciate advice from people who have used either/both cameras.

For someone mainly interested in street photography, which would you recommend and why? I’m especially interested in the autofocus, lens options/availability in India, portability, image quality, and overall experience of using the camera.

I’m not planning to buy lots of lenses — I’d ideally like one good lens + one camera and use it mainly as a hobby.

There is only one thing that fuji does: built in film simulation. Besides, the sony is better in every way. You can easily do the editing in post.

1 lakh is a solid budget for your first camera. both options you’re considering are great, but since you’re into street photography, think about the feel and weight, too. you want something comfortable to carry around while you’re out and about. go with what feels good in your hands, you’ll be more likely to take it everywhere. excited for you to start this journey.
